@user224@lemmy.sdf.org

I like computers, trains, space, radio-related everything and a bunch of other tech related stuff. User of GNU+Linux.
I am also dumb and worthless.
My laptop is HP 255 G7 running Manjaro and Linux Mint.
I own RTL-SDRv3 and RSP1 clone.

And shoutout for this one too: github.com/tomaspinho/rtl8821ce

Otherwise I wouldn’t have a functional WiFi card either.

I haven’t updated my Manjaro install for past 2 months. Things are going to be crazy.

Software Defined Radio, Ham Radio, RF Electronics, amateur satellites and Meshtastic.

The only community I am (more than) fully satisfied with here is Linux.

Oh, but also communities like askdentists, psoriasis, etc. Those were pretty helpful on Reddit.

Why though?

If you want any more privacy, just download Wikipedia Maxi (EN) package from kiwix.org (a bit over 100GB) and self-host a kiwix server.

At least it’s recognizable. Windows 12 will probably be just a single blue square.

But in reality, you really only recommend it to strangers. If you recommend any piece of tech to someone you know, you iust changed your status to tech support.

Not trash, just returned to the shop. HP Smart Tank 580 printer.

I'm looking for a privacy respecting vacuum robot

I’m looking for a vacuum robot preferably under 500€ and with a cleaning station. My main concern is that most robot vacuum providers seem to need to be connected to the internet. Are there any providers that either don’t need that, where I can block the internet connection or any other way not getting a spy in my home?...

“I’m looking for a privacy respecting vacuum robot” must be one of the most dystopian sentences I’ve read in quite some time.

I think this one is just as good:

Philips changes terms after the sale: requires data-sharing account to use a light bulb…

This will be the year of desktop Linux.

Perhaps Handbrake.

But if you do care about the quality, then you should just download those movies in higher quality than DVD. Like this you’re just getting 480p/576p with visible compression artifacts at the same file size.

And keep going for the rest of your life, just at a lower frequency because there’s more screw-ups to keep getting reminded of.

I’ve seen such video. The dude struggled to move because he just barely fit in enough to still be able to breathe. There was water in there, and he said he has to return because it’s starting to fill with water.

Fill with water? Nope. Nope. Why would I go in such space.

Or for the BBC to promise to return the film, undamaged, once they’ve digitised them.

“Yeah, so…, we lost them it seems. But not to worry, here’s a £10 voucher to McDonald’s.”

I know, it’s stupid, but anyway…

“If I don’t survive, tell everyone I used GNU+Linux, btw.”

But realistically, I’d probably be repeating this to myself: “Do not talk right after you wake up! Do not talk right after you wake up! Check the time, wait at least 2 hours. Do not trust yourself right after you wake up!” in hope that I’d remember to do so as to not accidentally disclose private information while still being high.

Don’t try to make it seem safer than it is. More telling name for Dihydrogen Monoxide is Hydroxic Acid.
Hydroxic Acid has Ph level of 7, which is highest of all acids. It easily damages metals like iron and even steel.
Furthermore, it can cause fire or even violent explosions in contact with alkali metals.
Under the influence of electricity, it will also produce highly explosive, odorless gas.

STAY AWAY FROM HYDROXIC ACID!!!
