zalgotext,

Brij

Baggaj

Yeah, a soft g is kinda just a j

zalgotext,

They use blanks so they don’t have to pay a special effects person to edit in gunfire sound effects and muzzle flash

zalgotext,

What if I just wanna stop paying rent? Is that a worthy enough reason to want to buy a house?

zalgotext,

To say they have nothing going for them and are being propped up by the government is not at all accurate

That isn’t what they’re saying though, is it? They’re saying that SpaceX has the ability to fail more than NASA, because they’re not a government organization funded solely by taxes.

zalgotext,

By your logic, do you consider ground meat to be vegetarian? Animals aren’t slaughtered specifically for ground meat, it’s made of the extras, off-cuts, and all the bits that typically won’t get eaten, in a very similar vein as how gelatin is made.

zalgotext,

You just described the difference between -5C and -15C without any difficulty at all.

After converting to Fahrenheit lol.

It’s what you’re used to.

That’s kind of my whole point. It’s what I’m used to, and you listing out the Celsius scale breakdown isn’t going to convince me to want to use Celsius for everyday uses. Of course I could get used to it, but it would take a wholesale, nationwide switch, just like it took the UK. Until then, telling me how much better Celsius is is just pissing into the wind, and honestly, a little underinformed.

zalgotext,

Fahrenheit scale is super arbitrary and it’s hilarious when it is posed as a “human-centric” scale.

The Fahrenheit scale is literally based on what was thought to be the limits of human comfort though. 0° F started as the lowest measured temperature in Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit’s hometown, and 100° F was his estimate of normal human body temperature.

You think it’s arbitrary because you’re used to a different scale. To me, having a scale go from 0C to 40C seems arbitrary, especially because I live in an area where for 3 months out of the year, it’s constantly below 0C, and it’s critical to know the difference between -5C and -15C, rather than just lumping them both into the same “sub-zero” category. I’m the same vein, categorizing 10C as “jacket weather” is borderline useless. The “jacket” I’m going to wear at 10C is much heavier than the one I’m going to wear at 17C (if I wear one at all), for example.

By the way, you can do the exact same breakdown of the Fahrenheit scale, except it’s more than twice as granular, and it goes from 0 to 100, like a bunch of other metric measurements… It boggles my mind when metric users use the 0 to 40 Celsius scale up as an argument against Fahrenheit.

zalgotext,

Joshua Weissman. He started out super chill, most of his recipes were pretty approachable, the editing wasn’t over the top, the b-roll stuff at the end was tasteful.

Now it’s like he’s catering to a whole different crowd. The editing is over the top and jammed with memes, he’s more idk, psychotic isn’t quite the right word, but it’s way less chill, he’s constantly saying stuff like “if you don’t use XYZ ingredient then what are you even making this recipe for?”, his recipes are more over the top, and he has a much more elitist opinion of himself and his food. The change happened so quickly too, it was kind of shocking.

zalgotext,

Already subbed to both of those channels lol. I also like J. Kenji Lopez Alt and Brian Lagerstrom for similar reasons - their videos are more about how to cook than just following a particular recipe.

zalgotext,

Welp, that settles it, I’m making croissants this week

zalgotext,

From my view, I enjoy watching Twitch for two main reasons:

  1. For the same reason I like watching live sports rather than a 15 minute cut of highlights - the feeling of experiencing events in real time, the payoff of seeing a big play unfold after all the anticipation leading up to it, watching strategies and counter-strategies unfold in real time, that kind of stuff.
  2. For the same reason I like watching video essays, stand-up comedy, interview shows, podcasts, or other media where one particular person is the focus - that person is entertaining to me. They have a personality I vibe with, they’re funny, they have an interesting perspective, etc.

To a lesser extent, it’s also nice background noise. I can throw a stream on at the beginning of my workday and not have to fiddle with it until I’m done with work, because it’s a constant, reliable source of background noise.

zalgotext,

Who? I’m looking at the Overwatch 2 directory right now and can’t find a single one. Like half of them listed don’t even have face cams on, judging by a quick scan of the thumbnails.

zalgotext, (edited )

Why are you ending* every sentence in jk

zalgotext,

It’s very noticable.

(Note: frequencies this low could cause discomfort or even damage to your ears, make sure your volume is at an appropriate level before hitting play, especially if you have headphones in)

zalgotext,

Neat

zalgotext,

Just rewatched the first season this past weekend, the soundtrack for that show is absolutely incredible

zalgotext,

That That with Psy and Suga frequently gets stuck in my head

zalgotext,

Anti-antibiotics… Isn’t that just biotics? Like from Mass Effect? IDK, could be cool 👀

zalgotext,

The sheer amount of mummies they have on display at the British Museum genuinely made me uncomfortable. Walking through those exhibits, the main thought in my head was just “hey, you guys think you should put some of these back?”

zalgotext,

Nah, most good chefs are cigarette addicted and depressed, that keeps them skinny

zalgotext,

Running a universityNCAA athletics program is legitimately very expensive

FTFY

zalgotext,

“What kind of coke head relative!”

Oh the irony

zalgotext,

Why? My coworkers are barely literate and won’t read anything with more than 4 or 5 words, writing a commit body would be a waste of time.

zalgotext,

At the very least make sure Subway Surfers is playing in one of the corners
