Cries in piano

MadBigote,

What do you spend money on? After I bought my piano and bench, I haven’t really spent any more money on it. Although the piano and bench are more than enough to call the hobby “expensive”.

Nomecks, (edited )

Better pianos, mainly lol

Passerby6497,

Wall to wall pianos… pianos IN the walls

Nomecks, (edited )

It’s more like cheap keyboard -> cheap digital piano -> not cheap digital piano -> baby grand and then the sky’s the limit after that! Also you’ll probably need a bigger house at some point.

Falcon, (edited ) to linuxmemes in Look at that fragmentation!

I wish there was more variety.

You basically have BSD and Linux and in the Linux space {glibc/musl systemd/openrc/runit PKGBUILD,ebuild, deb, rpm} which seems like a lot but it’s the really niche stuff that’s fun to pull apart and play with.

Did you know that cats taught themselves to mimic the sound of a crying child to get the attention of humans? I think it’s some evolution thing, ionno. Maybe someone smarter than me can explain 😅

OpenStars,
@OpenStars@startrek.website avatar

Close - they meow for their cat mothers too in the wild, it’s just that humans keep cats in a permanently juvenile state when we keep them as pets. Also, our patting them mimics their mother’s tongue action, which causes them to purr, which is also an entirely natural sound for them to signal the mother that they are alive and content. We did not change them so much as co-opt what was already there, using it for the benefit of both human & cat:-). From there, some things like level of aggression and body size were bred to suit our mutual partnership better.

Global pandemic is redundant

MindlessZ,

Pandemics aren’t inherently global, just widespread

DragonTypeWyvern, (edited )

It has varying definitions, but not quite.

Definitions can range anywhere from “Effects a whole country” to “has spread to several large regions” to “threatens to affect the entire globe” but as a general rule the definitions shy away from saying global because then people will quibble about, like, Greenland not being effected because those bastards shut down the ports again.

So you could, for example, have a pandemic that spread through Europe and Asia but the swift and decisive actions of competent executives prevented the spread to the Americas.
