Funny thing, originally Dry Bowser is actually just Bowser, but dead (undead?).

He became like that when thrown into lava in New Super Mario Bros world 1, came back fighting as a skeleton in the last world, then Bowser Jr threw his bones into black magic soup or something and that revived him as good old meat Bowser.

But after that Dry Bowser became a separate character, probably because Nintendo loves having dozens of slightly different variations for every character.

@sundrei@lemmy.sdf.org avatar

From now on, I will always think of regular Bowser as “Meat Bowser”.

brsrklf,

Just saying, Paper Mario and Pink Gold Peach are referred to by material too, it makes sense. Also there’s a gorilla that’s entirely made of Funk, which as everyone knows is one of the five classical elements of the universe.

I haven’t seen that many sedans in years. Therefore I think it’s an old photo.

I have no doubt in my mind that there’s some subset of the suckless crowd that thinks dns is bloat

We should remove all those useless microservices! /s

@Kuhelika@lemmygrad.ml avatar

No you don’t understand bro. DNS is a useless service that serves no purpose other than increasing attack surface for hackers. Who needs dns when you can just type ip address?

iopq, to linux in Is DNS Bloat too?

It’s insecure, which lets governments like China poison it. They straight up block encrypted DNS

knfrmity,

The EU regularly forces DNS server operators to remove entries or redirect certain domains. It’s super easy to circumvent but most users don’t know that.

@domi@lemmy.secnd.me avatar

I still remember that time some judge ruled to ban a IP belonging to Cloudflare and the internet was on fire for a day in my country.

blog.cloudflare.com/consequences-of-ip-blocking/

knfrmity,

The sites I’m thinking of never had their IPs completely blocked, the DNS entries for the domains were just removed. If you were to switch to a non-EU or self-hosted DNS server you’d get to the site.

But the domains in question are generally ones the US/EU/NATO propaganda machine has told people are bad, so there’s no outrage when they’re blocked. In many cases there are often cheers.

uiiiq,

As long as there is an oversight and rules, I don’t have a problem with that

moon,

It’s not insecure at all, quite the opposite. Also with DoH, it blends into regular traffic.

iopq,

DoH is blocked in China, they cut any TLS connection to a known DNS server (1.1.1.1, 8.8.8.8, 9.9.9.9, etc.)

My prediction is that we’ll go DNSSEC globally when IPv6 gets mainstream adoption. It sucks how many just don’t care enough.

domi,
@domi@lemmy.secnd.me avatar

when IPv6 gets mainstream adoption

At the current speed that would approximately be in 2087.

lolcatnip,

Whoa there, let’s not get ahead of ourselves.

Chobbes,

The abysmal adoption of DNSSEC is just embarrassing, and I haven’t heard any good arguments for why we shouldn’t do it. There’s one blog post that gets passed around as justification for not adopting DNSSEC, but it doesn’t really go into any technical detail and is mostly just the author saying “I’m scared of governments and TLDs”… which is maybe fair, but you still have to trust them for regular CA certs and everything, so why not make thr base secure?

Honestly, I might care slightly more about DNSSEC than IPv6 adoption… IPv4 exhaustion and NATing everywhere sucks, but the fact that you can’t trust DNS is like… insane.

risencode,

when IPv6 gets mainstream adoption.

After my death then. Alright, carry on.

vzq, to memes in The machine is always broken

Funny thing is that over here in Europe the ice cream machines seem to work almost all the time. I understand that it’s because they use a different brand of machines, but I’m not sure about the details.

ji17br,

Canada here, never encountered a broken machine.

EmpathicVagrant,

There they had to change the machines to the other brand because the ones they use here (us) was found to literally be designed to require a ton of maintinence so they could make money charging for repairs.

TLDR machine designed to break breaks a lot, not allowed in Europe.

I don’t even know how that jello is a sauce. It just stays solid even when warmed up. It’s good, but, like… On its own. I usually put it on my dessert plate, not the dinner one.

I like it on a sandwich the most. Piece of turkey, piece of cran log, some stuffing, some gravy, and a bit of sweet potatoes. Mmmmmmm.

Vespair,

I’m with ya. Cranberry sauce is S-tier, and I don’t discriminate between fresh or canned.

Whatever form cranberry sauce comes in, please put it in my mouth

KnightontheSun,

Well, I’ll have to disagree. I’ll only eat the fresh stuff. That gelatinous log is what made me think I hated the stuff. The first year I had fresh was a game changer. That’s all we do now. But to each their own and I hope you have as much gelatinous log as you want.
