such_lettuce7970, in Have you ever had a hyper realistic dream that you still remember after years?
@such_lettuce7970@kbin.social avatar

Yes, a nightmare I had as a child, many years ago (around 30ish). I was in a desert/beach....the air was dusty and orange-tinted. There was a gazebo made of wood, almost rotting or rotten, and a giant golem who trapped me in a wooden box. The whole thing was terrifying, and dry and hot.

Bipta,

I had this dream.

Bipta,

No I'm just kidding.

starlinguk, in do you guys shop on places like aliexpress/Temu and if you do what items have pleasantly surprised you?
@starlinguk@kbin.social avatar

Some arts supplies are good. I'm very poor and I hate consumerism, but I can't really afford the good stuff so I sometimes resort to stuff like this. They do good acrylic markers and have a huge pack of normal markers that's also really decent.

supermurs, in How do you cheer yourself up after a rough day? Or a rough year?

Take a walk in the forest and then go to a sauna.

milicent_bystandr, in Downvotes = “I disagree” or “this is bad and you should feel bad”?

I think someone else mentioned the same here, but as I’ve browsed down the opinions, I wonder if it’s good for different communities to have their own subculture on what votes mean.

For sure, outsiders dropping by might vote ‘counter-culturally’ and unhelpfully, but you can get a general sense of understanding in a community.

For r/all-alike stuff I’m sure things are different.

Two! Both when I was between 10 and 13 or so.

The first I had walked down the street to my friend’s house, knocked on the door, his mom answered and I woke myself up because I spoke out loud “can Shane come out to play?” The sound of my own voice woke me up because I was talking in my sleep.

The second was more or less the same. I left my house intending to go down to Shane’s house, but I tripped off the curb and woke up.

I’ve also had a recurring dream since I was a child that I would wake up in the middle of the night, fall out of bed and instead of simply hitting the floor I fell miles and miles through dirt and rock until I landed in a weird prison carved into dirt. I would be deposited into a dark hallway I couldn’t see the end to in any direction, an along one side of the wall were jail doors of cells. I could hear moaning and screaming and felt intense fear. But I would always wake up there and never “explore.” Not really realistic, but I still sometimes visit this dream prison and it still creeps me the fuck out cuz I don’t know what it means or why it’s always the same except for the place my bed may be.

No

berkat, in Have you ever had Detroit-style pizza?

I’ve had Detroit style pizza, but I can’t say I liked it very much compared to other pizza styles so I don’t have good recommendations.

My favorite is neapolitan pizza so I’d recommend trying one if you come across a place that does them and haven’t tried it yet.

Ima be honest, I deleted my reddit account before even creating this lemmy account

Depends on what kind of post it is.

General discussion threads, sure - ‘up’ = ‘good content’, ‘down’ = ‘irrelevant’. Irrelevant could be because it’s not to do with the matter at hand, it could be hateful, trollish, whatever.

Post asking for a specific fact, like in ye olde askahistorian? Up = correct, down = incorrect. Doesn’t matter how well written or how good the intent is, downvoting for disinformation.

One of the things that Slashdot got right was being able to upvote / downvote with a reason. (Perhaps only being able to upvote / downvote occasionally too, which stops brigading.) Made it possible to filter on why things were good, save ruining your fake internet points when you were mistaken about something as opposed to being an arsehole.

Interesting! I’ve kinda thought this myself, that having a sort of sentiment meta data attached to online actions would be an interesting way to go, kind of as a substitute for the body language and gestures we use and pick up on in real life.

milicent_bystandr,

Enter: the wheel of upvote options and the multidimensional spectrum of downvote options. Don’t worry, I’ll ask Google to analyse my life history and feed it into the emote-i-vote.

Come to think of it, I like the attach emoticon thing in GitHub (and lots of other social media? But I’ve liked it in GitHub) to get a relatively convenient and concise expression of “I like your message in this particular(ish) way”

Yea emoji reactions are fun. Calckey has them and it works well.

cashews_best_nut, in Be honest, do you still use reddit?

Nope, in fact after trying the super delete Suite (failed) I’m creating my own userscript to delete all my old comments. Once it’s finished later today I’ll post about it on Lemmy for others to use.

15yr old account dead and banned. The only time I check out Reddit is to look at the Western Europeans taking the piss out of each other on 2westerneuropean4u.

TimeIntegrated, in Be honest, do you still use reddit?

Not really. I think I visited twice this month - pop in to see someone’s comments page and some small sub. Nowadays if google sends me to Reddit, I just view the cached version.

I can relate! The best antidepressant for me is immersion in my hobby of open source software and computing. I also enjoy learning for its pure sake.

exercise something fierce, whatever works best for you be it running, lifting, cycling, swimming, doesn’t matter. It’s free brain chemicals!

Kolanaki, in How to make subscribed feed more diversed?
@Kolanaki@yiffit.net avatar

I just browse by All and sort by New Comments. I get a diverse feed of topics, some I may not even be aware of, all with active discussion due to any new comment or reply pushing them to the top.
