Giant ugly concrete buildings with tubes connecting them because it's too hot to go outside. Children haven't ever seen the sky except for in photographs. There are vents everywhere to keep the buildings cool, but it's still hot. The majority of social interaction will happen over the internet because everyone is isolated into their own "apartments". Thankfully, due to the mass pushback against billionaires hoarding wealth, everything will be cheaper. Everything gets delivered by AI robots/drones to families through amazon or some other delivery conglomerate, there is no in-person shopping. This includes things like groceries.
I really hope it doesn't end up like this, but based on how things are going, that's my unfortunate expectations for the future.
Well in that scenario, I think we surely would invent suits to let people at least go outside and perform tasks. Still bleak af tho and not too far fetched maybe
Don't tailor your speech for people who can't read or think.
If someone wants to misunderstand you they'll do so no matter how hard you try to accommodate them .
I think a better way to convey the intended sarcasm is to make it hyperbole or exaggerated. I saw your comment and one would have to be pretty dense to not see the sarcasm, so you did that well.
this works until you come across people that actually think that hyperbole is normal. Every time you think "oh, they can't be that idiotic...." that's when the knuckledraggers take as a challenge.
My guess: Airsoft or paintball MilSim (Military-Simulation) operation. OP is a sniper. There is an ambush. Long-shot: re-enactment of The killing of Osama Bin Laden. OP's crush is there. OP's butthole is sore, so they want a few days of no toilets to allow their bottom to heal.
I saw it mentioned somewhere that when you see subscriber counts for a community those counts only reflect the amount of subscribers from your instance. At least that is the way I understood it. I know that's not related to comments but there seems to be some ways that the federation work that is not great. Could it be that the comments are from an instance that your instance has de-federated from?
I would recommend passing your time by letting out the poop and taking it back in. That is all the finest advice I can provide you for this fasting endeavour.
For the longest time Reddit only supported media through external sites (Imgur, copy, etc).
Memmy (iOS app in beta) supports uploading media to Imgur and then inserting the link, much like Apollo did; hoping to see that extended to other hosting sites as well
Personally I think that hosting media is not the right move for Lemmy/kbin. Creates a long term never ending cost and liability. Reddit worked fine without hosting for a decade.
Seems like animated pictures in posts only work if it's in WebP format but in post bodies or comments gif works too. mp4 should be possible in theory but does not play for me. See this test post.
For the apps I doubt it. The native media libraries often lack support for animated images.
