TheShadowKnows, in What's a quote that has stuck with you for your whole life?

“A long habit of not thinking a thing wrong, gives it a superficial appearance of being right, and raises at first a formidable outcry in defense of custom. But the tumult soon subsides. Time makes more converts than reason.”

-Thomas Paine

People uphold their own oppressors because of a need to uphold tradition. F**k the monarchy.

yads, in How do other Europeans survive the raining season in Asia?

Don’t people shower several times a day in highly humid places?

LibertyLizard,

Not usually… probably depends on local culture though.

Lemmy exclusively on my phone (Memmy app) and reddit occasionally when on my PC.

eek2121, in Be honest, do you still use reddit?

I visit the Ukraine livethread on worldnews once a day and that is it. I use Lemmy or Mastodon mostly.

I am not logged into my reddit account, and ads are blocked. I use a VPN. I cancelled my reddit premium subscription when the API changes were announced.

XbSuper, in Be honest, do you still use reddit?

Nope. Without RIF it’s painful to look at.

Strayce, in Be honest, do you still use reddit?

I used to visit reddit for fun. Now I just check it if it comes up in a google search.

HomesliceAbe, in What's a quote that has stuck with you for your whole life?

I took an introduction to nursing class in high school where we had to know the names of all the bones, the chambers of the heart, CPR, etc. During one particular topic, one of the students kinda snapped and exclaimed “I’m too stupid for this!” The teacher, a badass ER nurse who was a single mom, rode a Harley, and had seen everything from electrocuted flesh to years-old bed sores, simply said “Good. That means you’re learning.”

I work with special needs kids, and whenever they complain about feeling stupid, I pass along that wisdom, but in a bit nicer way: “You’re not stupid, you’re just learning.”

I take the occasional peek to see if it imploded yet. I do miss certain communities. Only last week I was looking for some info on a historical subject. Google turned up nothing so I wanted to r/askHistorians. I hate they decided to stay on reddit and don’t switch to lemmy.

If I have to Google something, and the answer is on Reddit, then yes.

Jackolantern, in Status no poop guy

Oh yeah! The first legendary post on lemmy. Years from now, I can say to my grandkids that I was there when the poop post came out. I was there

SighBapanada, in Be honest, do you still use reddit?

No. I’ve completely switched to lemmy and couldn’t be happier. I’m actually surprised by how much I don’t miss reddit, I thought it would be tougher to break out

Lemmy got active enough after the API changes took effect that I have rarely been back.

francisco_1844, in Be honest, do you still use reddit?

No. Have not logged for weeks and can’t think of any good reason to go back.

ryathal, in Be honest, do you still use reddit?

I’ve gone back and lurked a single sub a fee times that doesn’t have an active user base here. Even the sub is slower now, than before the protests and app removals. The mobile site is cancer compared to RIF, which really helps to not go there.
