JackGreenEarth, in People who own typewriters, what is your favorite use for it?

How is writing something 9n a typewriter quicker than your phone?

Usernameblankface, (edited )
@Usernameblankface@lemmy.world avatar

My phone has notifications that distract from the idea I had, and I can use all my fingers on the typewriter rather than 2 thumbs.

Downsides are a lack of autocorrect and too much noise if anyone is sleeping.

SpaceNoodle,

Well, for starters, you don’t type “9n” by accident.

I mean, I might. But it takes white out or starting over to fix it

BowserBasher, in How Many Streaming Services Do You Have?

Two. Disney+ and WWE Network (UK so it’s still standalone). Always been a Disney fan so it’s a no brainier for me to have access to all the films and shows so easily. And the UK version has Star included so there’s other films to randomly find too. WWE Network is still the only way to go about it here, £9.99 a month (still, it’s never increased) and that pretty much is half what you would pay for the PLE each month. Plus NXT is now only on there in the UK so more than enough to justify the price for me.

Everything else I set sail for.

Yea if you want to steal something from Reddit, copy the content and paste it here. Don’t just post a link and direct traffic back to that shithole.

  • detalferous,

A lot of posts are from bots. It would be cool if the bots could make a whole new submission and not link back, but all things considered I’m just happy there is interesting content.

For some types of posts that's fine - the capybara community, for instance, is a steady stream of capybaras from reddit (I think) and that's not the type of post that needs interaction with OP or comments. Posts from say, tech support, very inappropriate to copy to Lemmy imo without a link back and an explanation as it might get a conversation going but it also confuses people who think their response might be seen by the OP.

    0ops,

That’s my take. What’s even the point of reposting r/askreddit posts?

    Lophostemon,

And what the hell is karma worth here?

    Lophostemon,

intensely_human, in We've already started this year off with crazy shit. What else do you guys think will happen this year and why?

I think combat drones will go full autonomous this year, as a means of overcoming control signal jamming.

It will be limited-mission autonomy, and only as a capability not the default operational mode, but there will be a huge push to make the newest drones capable of continue the mission in the event of lost connection with their remote controller.

It will also be necessary because of the sheer numbers of drones involved in the Ukraine war. There simply won’t be enough pilots.

Obviously, autonomy already exists. Iron Dome operates autonomously, because attackers have the initiative, the robot is required for fast-enough response.

Teknikal, in Anime fans, what are your favorite anime openings of all time?

I liked the angel bears intro enough thar I let it play I usually skip past them all honestly.

thrawn, in Good “Buy for Life” Brands

Don’t think I saw this one yet, but Briggs & Riley luggage. Lifetime no-questions-asked repairs for all functional damage, even if intentionally inflicted.

They’re also just very good. The BIFLness is cool but I’d have gone with another if it weren’t also the best in general. Super practical design.

I really think they’re re-using the assets for all the characters now, with slight tweaks from movie to movie.

Disney has been doing this for the last 80 years or so.

And the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle movie. The sad fact is that these are the exceptions that prove the rule.

    Varyk,

What do you mean? There are so many styles of animation, you mean like Pixar movies all look the same?

    RGB3x3,

Pixar, DreamWorks, and Illumination are the largest studios that make animated movies these days and they all have such generic character designs now. Very soft, very round, large eyes, large mouths, and overall visually boring.

And they often have the same cliche actions and expressions.

    fsxylo,

I think it’s weird to put illumination with the other two because while it’s technically a financially successful studio, everything they put out is borderline bootleg quality compared to the other two.

    Varyk, (edited )

Okay, so not every movie, just some recent popular movies from the same year from two of the largest studios with personnel and historical ties, and I guess illumination is also 3d animation if a different character style.

I understand the gripe, but that’s a very small section of animation.
