netburnr, in What was the last dumb phone you had before your first smartphone?
@netburnr@lemmy.world avatar

LG Env, I actually miss it.

Bishma,
@Bishma@discuss.tchncs.de avatar

I had the env2. Hands down, my favorite phone to date.

droidpenguin,

Oh ya I remember wanting that one a lot! I think it was too expensive for me at the time, so ended up with the alias 2 but I envied anyone who had one of those.

ediculous,

ENV2 gang. Great phone.

xc2215x, in What do you want for Christmas?

Books that interest me and clothes.

shinigamiookamiryuu, in What do you want for Christmas?

I don’t have any long-term desires that come to mind that can translate into Christmas wishes.

serpineslair, in What do you want for Christmas?

Leather jacket and gloves for when it’s too cold for my denim jacket. A front mudguard for my mountain bike. I realise my comment is less wholesome and/or less depressing than some others. XD

Vaginal_blood_fart, in What are your "poor person" money life hacks?

Take care of your teeth.

GrayBackgroundMusic, in What do you want for Christmas?

Peace and quiet. Someone else to clean and remember things. I’m tired of being the most responsible person. I’m not even that responsible, imo, but everyone else is worse.

weew, in Do you prefer to wear a smartwatch or a regular watch?

dumb watch. I really just need a quick glance at the time and date mostly when I can’t (or don’t want to) whip my phone out.

No batteries, kinetic powered, waterproof, cheap.

Some smartwatches have features I might be interested in (offline GPS tracking) but not at the price I’m willing to pay. Still waiting for prices to drop more.

And aside from Garmins and other high end dedicated expedition/marathon watches, everything else’s battery life just seems like crap. Like if I ever leave home for a single night I’ll have to pack a charger? That’s terrible.

Lorindol,

Check out Amazfit Bip smartwatch series. I’ve had one for 4 years, the battery lasts 3-4 weeks and it cost about 40-50$ when I bought it.

spacecowboy, (edited ) in Would anyone here know why we refuse to send international observers to some countries ?

Do you think America is some bastion of fairness and truth? Most of the countries that are stricken with corruption and poverty are that way because the USA meddled with their shit.

The USA should stay the fuck in its own country, and stop influencing the weak countries of the world.

I just want to feel for a year, that humans aren’t going to be the death of 70% (or more,) of all living things. Including ourselves, in the near future. Most of the people I know live like hyper-ultra kings and queens of olden times. Unthinkable abundance, quick or instant to obtain things, and often, a variety of things all of our great ancestors could only dream of. And yet… People seem to believe that it’s not enough to have all of the things they do.

JusticeForPorygon, in Do you prefer to wear a smartwatch or a regular watch?

I would prefer a smart watch if there was one I could afford that meets my wants.

victorz,

What are your wants?

JusticeForPorygon,
@JusticeForPorygon@lemmy.world avatar

Well, I’d like if it were able to tell the time, and I suppose being able to respond to messages would be nice, though I don’t want to pay for the extra cellular device. GPS would be cool, and I suppose the general fitness features but I think most of not all of them have that. I have a Pixel 6, so I was looking at the Pixel watch series, but the battery life doesn’t seem all that great which is kind of a deal breaker since I will certainly forget to charge my watch. Oh! Sleep tracking! I definitely want that since I don’t think I get very good sleep most nights.

CADmonkey, in What is your favorite hobby?

Motorcycles. Both riding, and maintainence/repair. Wonderful for my mental health, and they’re all cool in their own ways.

son_named_bort, in What do you want for Christmas?

Red Ryder BB Gun

SlurpDaddySlushy, in What is good to eat when you have no appetite?

I make broth with Better Than Bouillon.

Yum. Also, careful of the sodium. Drink in moderation, or dillute it a lot.

tal, in What is good to eat when you have no appetite?
@tal@lemmy.today avatar

to eat something to keep my strength up

I wouldn’t worry too much if you haven’t eaten for a few days. I know of one instance where someone who was seriously obese went on a diet, and aside from vitamins and water, went over a year without eating. I’ve done over a week myself for the hell of it. Unless you’re absolutely emaciated or have some sort of medical condition that creates a need for it, you can probably handle going for quite a while without food.

All that being said, this isn’t to encourage doing it. Just that you’re probably not creating any kind of dire health situation if you don’t eat for a while.

While it may be true that you can survive without food, it should be mentioned that we need energy to heal and recover from illness. Food provides the energy we need to heal.

Please eat at least a little bit while trying to recover from illness.

jeffhykin, in Anyone have any guides or tips for how to decorate home living spaces to feel more "lived in"?

Really surprised nobody mentioned plants
