quinkin, in What is good to eat when you have no appetite?

I’m Australian so Vegemite toast is my go to when I am not feeling well.

TechAdmin, in Do you prefer to wear a smartwatch or a regular watch?

I’d rather not wear anything on my wrists but I like data so wear an Apple watch 7 to collect health data. I use Health Auto Export app on iOS to sync health data to homeassistant. I found straightforward guide to set it up but it is not perfect, need to open the app regularly for the data sync to happen. Battery life sucks, for my usage max it’ll last is a little over 2 days. Quick charging works well enough so usually only gotta charge for a few mins once a day.

philpo, in What game do you play to just chill?

Timberborn is always nice,

so is Minecraft.

Subnautica is also very relaxing after you know your way around it.

But Red Dead Redemption 2 is the most “chill” game for me. You can simply go out to hunt, enjoy the nature, etc.

FontMasterFlex,

You can simply go out to hunt, enjoy the nature,

So incredibly ironic, this statement. god forbid anyone GO OUTSIDE, no, we have to enjoy nature in a video game.

philpo,

Yeah, you’re of course right, after a 12h shift people should go outside in the dark rainy night instead of enjoying themselves for an hour in front of a PC and first and god forbid they live in a region without much nature.

FontMasterFlex,

Look I play games too. I never said not to. I said it was ironic that someone would ‘relax’ by ‘going outside to enjoy nature’ in a video game. IDAF where you live, outside is outside. I’ve lived in remote areas and i’ve lived in heavily populated areas. no matter where I lived there was a park, or a sidewalk nearby. maybe put down the internet for a minute and go outside if you’re getting this triggered over a sentence.

Fellow Timberborn enjoyer here. Waiting for the Simple Floodgates mod to get updated.

Pulptastic, in Do you prefer to wear a smartwatch or a regular watch?

I am not a watch guy but I love the data I get from my Garmin so I wear it pretty much 24/7

cheese_greater, in What is good to eat when you have no appetite?

Not sure if people will scorch this idea but one thing I love when I’m having trouble is scalloped potatoes cut up real small and you just graze it all day. Ginger ale is a nice companion but try to get as low dugar as you can find and use a metal straw and sip very preciously

I know there’s dairy and a bunch of other stuff but it goes down super easy and the trick is to have it in a million pieces so you can really go slow. Hope it helps

sharkfucker420, in In which scenario would you last longer before being outed as a time traveller?
@sharkfucker420@lemmy.ml avatar

I wouldn’t make it with the Vikings man. I wouldn’t be outed as a time traveler but I would die

TheOctonaut,

Is this like that “the 90s were 10 years ago” effect? The viking age was 1,000 years ago. More, really.

500 years ago the world had been circumnavigated

sharkfucker420, (edited )
@sharkfucker420@lemmy.ml avatar

Oh fuck me I didn’t process the 500 year mark when writing this. In that case I’d probably just starve

Neato,
@Neato@kbin.social avatar

Nah. You'd die of smallpox.

HenryWong327, in In which scenario would you last longer before being outed as a time traveller?
@HenryWong327@lemmy.ml avatar

I mean this seems like an easy answer to me no? People in the past wouldn’t suspect you’re from the future, they’d think you were posessed or something. People in the future would be much more likely to think of time travel, plus they’d have records of old accents and stuff.

Neato,
@Neato@kbin.social avatar

Time travel to the future is interesting but not harmful. Time travel to the past is disastrous. But no one had concept if it do you'd be free to overwrite the future.

Stern, in In which scenario would you last longer before being outed as a time traveller?
@Stern@lemmy.world avatar

I think the language/dialect barrier would be a huge one in either case. To wit, the historical versions of the lords prayer- en.wikipedia.org/…/History_of_the_Lord's_Prayer_i…

Future would be rough with a near complete lack of knowing current cultural norms, lingo, history, and knowing how the three seashells work. Top that off with all the stuff developed in just the past 100 years vs. the amount of progress we could be making in 5 times that length of time, and I feel like the future would be a lot rougher then the past.

In the past you could excuse a minor faux pas by saying you didn’t get off the farm much and maybe folks would just think you were a bit slow. Not being socialized in the present or future? Bit less reasonable.

Neato,
@Neato@kbin.social avatar

You've got it. In 500 years we'll never advanced so much and there will have been so much current exchange and drift I doubt you could be understood at all.

In the 1500s you could get by as a foreigner who barely understood the language. You'd have zero cultural norms so most language that wasn't literal would be unintelligible.

TootSweet, in What is good to eat when you have no appetite?

Instant ramen and crack an egg into the boiling water right at the end and stir. Gives it some protein and makes it a more substantial meal.

ReallyKinda, in What is good to eat when you have no appetite?

Hawaiian delight baby food, oyster crackers, broth (better than bouillon and a clove of garlic)

brewbellyblueberry, (edited ) in What is good to eat when you have no appetite?

If taste isn’t a concern, I’ve gotten by with chlorella and cocoa chia pudding for longer than I care to admit. I don’t mind the taste of chlorella, but most people apparently don’t find it and other seaweed all that appetizing, but it’s a drink so you can just chug it like a beer or something and neutralize the taste with like a splash of lemon juice or water with lemon juice. Won’t fill your stomach all that much, though.

Miso soup (with wakame and maybe tofu and veggies cut down to tiny pieces?) is also a great addition to that.

sturlabragason, in What is good to eat when you have no appetite?

Buttered toast with salt, grapes (possibly frozen), Gatorade.

_danny, (edited ) in What is good to eat when you have no appetite?

My go to is plain white rice with plain chicken thighs if I can stomach meat if not I’ll make it with some chicken broth.

If you’re struggling to eat for more than like a week you probably should bite the bullet and see a doctor. A prolonged lack of appetite can be a sign of some pretty serious stuff.

dirtySourdough, in People of Lemmy that take more than 5 seconds to start your car and drive, what are you doing?

Telling someone that I’m on my way. Finding music to listen to. Figuring out what my next errand is or checking if I have anymore errands.

pendulum_, (edited ) in What's the name of the belief that gods/entities are quasi-semtient memes (the linguistic term, not the cultural term) in the same manner that corporations and governments are considered people?
@pendulum_@lemmy.world avatar

Personification?

Edit: Anthropomorphic Personification!

(GNU Sir Terry Pratchett)

Pons_Aelius,

This was my thought as well.

Gods exist because humans believe in them. The stronger the belief, the stronger the God.

As belief fades, so does the Deity and their power.

SethranKada,
@SethranKada@lemmy.ca avatar

Yup, that’s it exactly.

That works, thanks!
