redballooon, in What's the name of the belief that gods/entities are quasi-semtient memes (the linguistic term, not the cultural term) in the same manner that corporations and governments are considered people?

Maybe Egregore?

SethranKada,
@SethranKada@lemmy.ca avatar

Huh, that’s a pretty good description. I’ve never heard the term before, so I’ll need to do some more research before I know if it fits. But even if it’s a dead end, that’s an interesting enough topic that it’s worth delving into anyway.

SzethFriendOfNimi, in What is good to eat when you have no appetite?
@SzethFriendOfNimi@lemmy.world avatar

If you’re able to hold solid foods besides the things like Gatorade/pedialite/ensure fig newtons are pretty calorie dense too.

Drusas, in Do you prefer to wear a smartwatch or a regular watch?

I have yet to find a smartwatch which reasonably fits my tiny wrist, so there's really no competition.

0x4E4F, (edited ) in What is good to eat when you have no appetite?

Any form of crackers works for me. Cheese flavored are the best for me, but just about any form of crackers or food that is well baked.

Nihility, in What is good to eat when you have no appetite?
@Nihility@lemmy.world avatar

I’ve struggled with appetite issues for a while now and my go-to whenever I can’t get myself to eat regular food is nutritional drinks like Soylent, Boost etc. Enough calories to replace a meal and you won’t miss out on nutrients.

Name brand ones are unfortunately super expensive so I usually stick to the Kroger Fortify+. I know you said flavor isn’t a priority, but avoid vanilla. It’s wretched. Chocolate is the one that’s most palatable.

TheGiantKorean, in What game do you play to just chill?
@TheGiantKorean@lemmy.world avatar

Shattered Pixel Dungeon. Which is weird because it’s actually quite frustrating, but super rewarding if you win.

gac11,

Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup has a similar feel to it. It’s a lot more involved if you want way more variables to play with. There’s and Android port from PC that takes some getting used to, but is pretty fun to play over and over.

TheGiantKorean,
@TheGiantKorean@lemmy.world avatar

I need to check this one out again. A friend of mine highly recommended it.

DashboTreeFrog,

I played this a bit on mobile and really enjoyed it, not sure why I stopped in retrospect, I was never able to beat it even once. Another one where dying isn’t a big deal cause replaying is part of the fun. Been thinking of checking it out on PC but just never got around to it

TheGiantKorean,
@TheGiantKorean@lemmy.world avatar

Hit me up if you ever need any tips. I’m not the best out there, but I’ve won with all 5 classes. Currently working on winning with all 9 challenges on.

zabadoh,

I find the boss battles in Pixel Dingeon too difficult when I am forced into them before my character is ready.

Pathos Nethack is a better mobile dungeon crawler with no time pressure for the fixed encounters.

TheGiantKorean,
@TheGiantKorean@lemmy.world avatar

I’m check it out!

Putykat, in What game do you play to just chill?
@Putykat@lemmy.world avatar

Sky Children of the Light (solo player)

luminaree,
@luminaree@lemmy.world avatar

This is also my go to for some chill gaming!

dominoko, in How do you work full-time and stay awake all shift?
@dominoko@kbin.social avatar

First things first, do you get enough sleep at night?
I work a desk job and do consistently get pretty drowsy around 2pm. I find that eating a lighter lunch and moving around keeps me awake. Take a walk around the building or something, it's bad for you to sit all day long anyways. I drink an energy drink every day as soon as I get in but I don't know what effect, if any, it has on my afternoon drowsiness.

GutterPunch,

Probably not… I’ve always heard people get 8 hours of sleep when it’s dark, but my whole life I’ve always had broken sleep that doesn’t return to sleep after waking back up, and after years of being unable to sleep consistently at some point I changed approach and just sleep whatever time I get tired. It slightly improved my physical and mental health at the time but my overall tiredness never really reduced, I just don’t stare at the ceiling waiting for sleep anymore. The times I get the longest sleep tend to be when the sun is up, which is a disaster for being on-call during daylight business hours.

willya,
@willya@lemmyf.uk avatar

Well sounds like you already have your answer and it’s that you need to get more sleep. If that’s not a possibility try to get some modafinil.

badbytes, in Do you prefer to wear a smartwatch or a regular watch?

I wear a not so smart watch. Like short yellow bus watch.

theworstshepard, in People of Lemmy that take more than 5 seconds to start your car and drive, what are you doing?

Adjust seat from when my husband used it. Adjust mirror from when my short husband moved it Put laptop bag down into the passenger footwell Fish can of drink out of my bag and put it in the holder Put phone into holder, turn on Bluetooth Turn of Bluetooth speaker Connect car Bluetooth if it hasn’t happened automatically Choose podcast or music Seatbelt on Set wipers if needed Pull away! Takes a minute, roughly

RBWells, in Would you choose invisibility or teleportation?

Teleportation by a long shot, though I would be afraid it would make me fat and unhealthy (never walking just teleporting everywhere).

If you are saying I can hold another person and teleport us both? Abso-damn-lutely teleportation, can you imagine the savings on travel?

wooki, (edited )

Thinking too small.

Contract out to nasa or highest bidder and transport goods and people to ISS. Transport goods and people to mars. Get spacesuits and transport asteroids to the highest bidder. Become richest person on earth.

Lemminary, (edited )

Plot twist: The conspiracies are true and NASA drugs you and abducts to you experiment on you and learns to milk that sweet teleportatium out your ears while tied up in an underground warehouse somewhere in Area 51.

wooki,

Oh great now it’s a horror story.

LostAndSmelly, in Do you prefer to wear a smartwatch or a regular watch?

I wear a basic watch so that I can keep track of the time without opening up my phone all the time. I discovered that when I wore a smart watch I was constantly peaking at my notifications and paying less than quality attention to my family. When I gave up the smart watch I was less distracted but still found myself wasting time when all I intended to do was check the time

MostlyHarmless, in Do you prefer to wear a smartwatch or a regular watch?

I like to wear a smart watch that looks like a regular watch. I have a Withings. It does basic notifications, has the usual health functionality such as heart rate, workouts etc. But the battery lasts a few weeks between charges.

yamanii, in What game do you play to just chill?
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

You want arcade experiences

DashboTreeFrog,

Legit, I was looking into getting a light gun working with my gaming setup recently cause that was my favorite thing to do at arcades.

Public_Tumbleweed, (edited ) in Do you prefer to wear a smartwatch or a regular watch?

I’m using Huawei gt2 pro watch, its great. 2 weeks battery life, it can measure your sleep, stress, hearth rate, steps etc and tell time obviously. Only problem I have is in order to connect watch to my phone I need to use Huawei health apk (its not on play store anymore all thanks to USA) and sign in with Huawei id. But I also like regular watches
