Subverb, in So, who or what ruined Christmas this year?

Fucking Darlene. Did you try her sugar cookies? She clearly didn’t mix the baking powder with the milk again.

Alph4d0g,

There’s an old saying in Tennessee - I know it’s in Texas, probably in Tennessee - that says, fool me once Darlene, shame on - shame on you. Fool me - you can’t get fooled again.

11 Grams of gunpowder

Tagger,

You did the maths?

Corkyskog, (edited )
@Corkyskog@sh.itjust.works avatar

I did the minimum math… I didn’t really feel like figuring out the exact density of an air tag. It is definitely more than 11 grams by volume of gunpowder, but how much I cannot say.

I am lazy… and Googling Airtag volume just displays results about the actual loudness of an airtag alert.

There is also the question of whether you would just compress the gunpowder into a puck, or store it inside an airtag shaped container. If the latter you might even lose a gram of gunpowder.

JoBo, in Why does America say 'merry christmas'?

Common in the UK too. I think it’s because we often add “… and a happy New Year”. Two happies doesn’t scan and merry New Year doesn’t work as well.

ArumiOrnaught, in Did any coal-in-your-stocking type of things happen to you on Christmas Day?

Ass on the toilet, face in the tub. I was in the bathroom from around 9pm to 4am.

LemmyKnowsBest,

Almost sounded like you were setting us up for a rhyme:

Ass on the toilet, face in the tub, 8:00 p.m. I stumbled home from the club.

semnosao, in So, who or what ruined Christmas this year?

my local electricity company just let half of our city without energy from 15h Christmas eve to 08 on Christmas morning. Here in Brazil the tradition is to eat at midnight and then exchange gifts. This year it was not possible for me, my family and my friends.

HollandJim, in So, who or what ruined Christmas this year?

/c/technology.

Never tell anyone there what you want or use. You’ll get very little aside of absolutist ideology and abuse.

Telodzrum,

Seriously though, it’s like internet comments and takes never stopped being 2008 over there.

brenno, (edited ) in What search engine do you recommend that isn't Google or Bing?

Another option is SearXNG. It’s meta search engine, which means that it aggregates other search engines like Google and Bing but without tracking or logging, because your searches are proxied using a public instance, that will mix your search with the ones from other people.

And about default search engine, don’t know what you’re talking about, both chrome and Firefox allows this, in mobile and desktop.

Nomecks, in Corporate Censorship Bring You Here?

I just got sick of everything becoming a profit driven cesspool. If open-source social media can take hold it could radically change our whole society. I have to help it get there.

SplashJackson, in What search engine do you recommend that isn't Google or Bing?

I like AskJeeves but a case can be made for WebCrawler

DogWater, in What do you like about socialism?

I like that the government is financially able to provide social services above and beyond anything Americans are used to. Those services are a reliable way to help out neighbors.

There’s no reason for any American to be unhoused, hungry, uneducated, or in need of healthcare. If wealth taxes were implemented, 95% of Americans wouldn’t have any more money taken from them than they already do and it would do so much for millions and millions of Americans.

A socialistic society lifts up the people that need it most and doesn’t hurt anyone in a way that they can’t cope with. And moreover, some studies estimate that helping out those poorest Americans allows them to add value to society in ways that makes up for the wealthy people and corporations getting taxed heavier.

Waraugh, (edited ) in US residents: What big domestic policy improvements have the american people won from congress in the last 30 years?

I’m hoping that the repeal of Roe vs Wade seals the fate of the republican party. With continued legal action against gerrymandered states, a solidified stance against women’s reproductive rights, along with the overt racism I’m optimisticly hoping to see a functional dissolvement of the republican party in it’s current form by 2028. The pessimistic side of me is worried about strategic division of the democrats “not wanting Biden” or other short sighted horeshit driving us straight into a hate filled fascist government we can never recover from.

seals the fate of the republican party? the repeal of Roe vs Wade happened on a democrat’s watch and on a Catholic one

when was it you saw and heard Biden on tv defending abortion rights and saying is fighting for us? maybe a few times shit is so real he should be on the tv or streaming or something everyday

Biden has rode “I am not Trump.” into the ground but people are still supporting him on that fact alone

and Obama who Biden was in the White with wrote policies that harmed the health of the citizens and Trump and then Biden both expanded on while in office en.wikipedia.org/…/Family_Smoking_Prevention_and_…

when has Biden been a champion of healthcare or for cannabis or for gay marriage? dude is Catholic for God’s sake and very public about it and his policies and actions in office have reflected this he chose a prosecutor for a vice who openly opposed what he promised on the campaign trail the ones he has went back on like cannabis when he fired all those staffers

and everyone still thinks he is a cannabis champion

being not trump does not make someone a better more qualified candidate

Biden took my right to vote away so this is one of the only outlets

know in this next election it will most likely be Biden vs Trump same as before how could it go differently remember what happened when we were going to have more options

Obama and Biden chained the Green Party candidate to a chair so she could not debate with them and the other major politicians how is that not fascist

Beemoe,

This is one of the dumbest comments I’ve ever read.

tastysnacks,

Its not so much that the comment is dumb, but Verdant Banana thinks we’re dumb.

AdamBomb,

the repeal of Roe vs Wade happened on a democrat’s watch and on a Catholic one

The actions of the Supreme Court are completely unrelated to which party occupies the presidency at the time. The two branches are independent of one another.

MedicPigBabySaver, in What's a food you love, that isn't worth making from scratch?

Everything!

I didn’t cook/bake growing up. I couldn’t care less about doing it now. I have a handful of places that have yummy food from steak to sushi. And a great bakery. I need not to spend a moment of my time doing anything more than eating & enjoying.

lightnsfw, (edited ) in Corporate Censorship Bring You Here?

I was banned from Reddit for saying child molesters deserve to be tortured in horrible ways.

Days later I see a similar thread of people saying the same type of shit about business executives with no action taken against them. I opened a ban appeal to inquire what I did differently than these dozens of comments but all I got back was a canned response that the ban would stay in effect. The only conclusion I can draw from this is that Reddit wants to create a safe space for child molesters. So yeah, fuck that site.

HenriVolney, in What makes a (good) monarch?

A guillotine!

ani, in What is this growth on fallen tree branches?

I spend quite a lot of time in the woods

Let me ask the real questions OP: what do you do in the woods?

Just kidding. I just walk our dogs there (quite often)
