jaybirrd, in My wife and her best friend accused me of having an affair, then got angry when I didn't have one

There needs to be better awareness and support structure for postpartum depression and postpartum psychosis. It is truly horrifying and when you’re a parent, you often don’t realize it’s happening until things are really bad. The mother has really scary intrusive thoughts (sometimes intensely violent) and often does not feel safe to open up and get help. There are many tragic stories out there where things spiraled completely out of control and ended up in infanticide or suicide, sometimes both.

Mothers and their partners/spouses preparing to have children need to learn how to identify it and have a plan for what to do if it happens. It’s more common than you might think, and support is needed when it happens.

devdad, in OP asks legaladvice for help on escaping her physically abusive husband. He is a cop.

I really missed this sub

Me too. It’s about the only reason I still open Reddit, every now and again.

StackedTurtles,

Same. I use an rss reader on my phone and have the best of sub as an rss feed in it. That way I can still read it decently from my phone.

Tangent5280, in OP asks legaladvice for help on escaping her physically abusive husband. He is a cop.

So many such stories don’t have such a happy ending. This woman is lucky to be able to leave safely.

trimmerfrost, in OP asks legaladvice for help on escaping her physically abusive husband. He is a cop.

Here I can’t even get a woman, and there’s someone beating the shit out of his woman

ScrivenerX,

The real victim of domestic abuse: guys who are so narcissistic that they associate everything with the fact they don’t have a girlfriend.

pizza-bagel,

In addition to what @ScrivenerX said, this is also problematic because you seem to think women are aware someone is an abuser and then continue to date them. Abusers are incredibly manipulative and isolate their victims as much as possible over time so that they feel they can't realistically leave once they reveal their true selves.

superduperenigma, (edited )

Have you considered that this incel/niceguy attitude towards women is part of the reason women don’t care to associate with you?

Edit: Wow I figured you’re a troll but holy shit. -815 points in 16 days. That’s impressively low.

OhYeahThat, in OP asks legaladvice for help on escaping her physically abusive husband. He is a cop.

My favorite updates are the getting out of an abusive life safely. People underestimate just how hard that is to do

Jesus, thats frightening. Hope it all works out for the best in the end and the husband doesn’t just find a new victim.

Plibbert,

Sadly he’s a police officer in America. So best case he get fired and gets a new job at a department a stone toss away. Most likely nothing happens.

Unfortunately true, probably comes with a raise too.

Little8Lost, in I’m considering leaving my wife because of her weight

that is a very nice read and i dislike all the jerks who belived that he did not love her. And yes, it sometimes needs a harsh wake up call to be better in staying alive

ramsgrl909, in I’m considering leaving my wife because of her weight

Communication!

JohnDClay, in AITA for walking out of the Airport when I saw my husband's mom standing there with her luggage?

Yta for reposting these. These are very not useful to repost since the interesting bits are usually in the replies. Maybe post the subreddit drama version with the overview and follow up if you must.

deconstruct,

I’m reposting some of the most interesting and popular ones. Who knows when the next reddit meltdown will happen and sub disappears for a month?

I don’t see the harm, there’s not much activity in his community anyway.

clay_spine,

I’m glad you’re reposting. I’m here for the stories.

Leax,

Don’t worry, thanks for sharing!

traches, (edited )

Lemmy needs content dude, stop gatekeeping.

JohnDClay,

I haven’t seen any of these aita reposts that have any interaction, bearly any have upvotes. Aita posts just seem like the least valuable type of post to repost

vivavideri,

Well, I miiight just have to go comment and upvote all of them now. :)

If I were to tell you that the first was a joke, the second sarcasm, and the third a genuine question, how would you differentiate them?

Remember that text is lifeless. There’s nothing there except the markings on the page.

Thus, you should never fault the reader for not getting your intention. It’s on you to make that clear.

nei7jc,

I’m aware, I should have used a tone indicator.

Why post another person’s story, our advice won’t help the original poster.

What’s the point?

Bestupdates is an archival community bringing together all the parts of a posted saga into one post. It’s not for giving advice to the original OP. To do that you should follow the info at the post start and link at the bottom to track down the original posts from the original OP.

tl;dr- this is a voyeur community, not an advice community

Aw shit, I apologize, I didn’t read the community, I thought I was on relationship advise or something.

Not my cup of tea but I appreciate what you’re trying to do here. Sorry others don’t get it. I understood what’s going on right away.

Buuuuut

I especially don’t understand why she did this. If finances were actually that dire, then surely OOP would have know about it and mentioned it. With OOP working out of state, you’d also hope that this job is worth the time…

deconstruct,

I don’t get it either. Guessing it’s a small thrill from scamming people or she needs money for drugs.

BURN,

The worst petty shoplifters are upper-middle class teenagers (generally girls)

It’s not out of need. It’s out of a sense of entitlement that they can get out of any consequences.

Pieisawesome,

It’s not a sense of entitlement. It’s the adrenaline rush of stealing
