Highly highly recommended that all Linux enjoyer’s look into his work. Its truly remarkable, he wrote EVERYTHING from scratch, he even made his own language variant based off of C called HolyC. He made the kenel from scratch, the drivers, the compiller, the man was a savant. Very very sadly, also suffered from paranoid schizophrenia, and died relating to it. He had mini games in his TempleOS that he made with just text files and sprites. Truly one of the most talented devs of all time.

If you are good with a slightly more complicated install process and don’t need access to Windows tools (like Outlook, Teams, Word, PowerPoint, etc), you can run Linux on bare metal to access the full potential of your hardware without any overhead from virtualization or emulation.
They know they cannot stop those determined. So they worded some parts to try to make it sound like “it will inconvenience you and Linux is hard” so that people are like “Ok, I will not do it if it is hard”.
I remember Team Fortress 2 has a console command where you could set your voice gain stupidly high and blow out people’s ears by just being in voice chat.
Seriously, this should be illegal. Every game blasts you with full volume and no way to turn it down until later. Then the reasonable setting is like 10%. I’m in the habit of taking my headphones off when I start a new game.
Don’t get me wrong, there’s plenty to gripe about with apple, just like every tech company, but I swear half the complaints I hear about Apple products on lemmy are either outdated or just plain wrong

The XDG Base Directory Specification is a set of guidelines to tell application developers where they should store their application’s config files, cache, etc.
There are many applications that don’t follow the guidelines and put their files in a hidden folder directly in your home directory, which is what the guidelines are trying to combat.
