QuazarOmega, in what's your ubuntu?

Fuck zodiac signs

What’s your Ubuntu flavor?

eager_eagle, in Stability
@eager_eagle@lemmy.world avatar

i ain’t a horse to want a stable distro

lemmesay,
@lemmesay@discuss.tchncs.de avatar

and I don’t want an operating system that makes me feel its presence.

MTK, in Text editor war

The only editor I need:

Create: printf “TEXT” > FILE

Add: printf “TEXT” >> FILE

No room for mistakes.

Gallardo994,

Should both be the same commands. Adding should be done by remembering previous contents, no other way is allowed.

sanosuke001, in Everyone loves snaps

I can’t even use my smart card because Ubuntu keeps trying to install the snap version of Firefox which can’t access the hardware. Why does it keep swapping out every time I update releases? Why won’t it let me be happy?! /cry

TooLazyDidntName,

This is exactly why I’m switching to fedora. Just installed 23.10 and Firefox became a snap again. Ive been with ubuntu for over 10 years now, but I’m done.

DAMunzy,

You could use Arch, btw. 😜🤣

I don’t understand. I read this on edge.exe.

Gentoo would be the materials to make your own tool

grue,

Gentoo is the How To Make Everything Youtube channel.

Linux from Scratch is Primitive Technology.

badbytes,

Yeah just some steel, a welder, and a grinder

merc,

Some iron ore, a ton of clay, and instructions on how to make a furnace.

therafal,

Wouldn’t that be LFS tho? With Gentoo, you should at least get a furnace and mold.

merc,

Probably. Maybe Gentoo is the one where you get the furnace and various molds for various tools, but you have to cast the tools yourself.

PlasticExistence,

The important thing is that Linux users are finally getting some outside time and fresh air.

_cnt0,

I don’t know what I’m looking at here. I also don’t know if I want to know.

GregorGizeh,

Seems to be an asshole-mounted taco holder.

therafal,

A brass knuckle, asshole-mounted taco holder. With Jesus, so that you won’t forget about praying before eating.

rtxn,

I know that it’s Jesus.

But I really REALLY want it to be Moses parting the sea.

_cnt0,

Ooooh, intriguing …

hexabs,

You’re forgetting Jesus

Zehzin,
@Zehzin@lemmy.world avatar

So did the person who made it

TheFerrango,

Always thank the Lord before eating

grue,

A kinky trailer hitch?

qyron,

Brass knuckles… with a jesus figure… and side bars… with an embossed “have a taco”…

so… BDSM “furniture” tool? Perhaps maid?

therafal,

There are taco holders on the side bars too.

qyron,

And that.

BlinkerFluid, in An unbiased comparison of linux distributions' setup
@BlinkerFluid@lemmy.one avatar

I quit using Arch after about ten years of using it because Team Fortress 2 quit working and none of the resolutions on protondb fixed my issue.

Priorities, people.

@Confetti_Camouflage@pawb.social avatar

The 32bit libtcmalloc_minimal.so.4 that all Source 1 games ship with needs to be updated. You can symlink it to your system’s version to get TF2 running again. It’s usually only a matter of time before it starts to effect more downstream distros.

The other problem I have with TF2 is queueing for casual just stops for no discernable reason or error every time, even if I’m not the party host. But then I come back later and it works again? Only real solution I’ve found is to have my friends queue without me and then join after they’ve found a match.

BlinkerFluid, (edited )
@BlinkerFluid@lemmy.one avatar

See, I did all that… and then audio broke. So, I couldn’t anymore, man. I probably could’ve copied the install, kept it updated and held it for a resolution but I just don’t demand that much from my builds anymore really. I went with Mint with XFCE and haven’t had a single issue since install. I’m good. If it comes down to Ubuntu’s base, a lot more eyes will be on the problem and I’ll sort it out then.

That was a joke. Every community can be salty ime.

droans,

I had a problem with some software I was using a few weeks back. I googled the error and the one result was a closed GitHub issue matching it exactly.

The sole reply just said that the poster should stop being lazy because the problem has been discussed in other issue reports.

Except that was the very first issue created for that repository.

My Boomer dad got taken in by one of these scams. They didn’t manage to do much damage, thankfully.

Vqhm,

Yea l knew someone that gave remote access out to one of these scams. Couldn’t be sure they didn’t leave a reverse shell so we just formated the drive and reinstalled windblows.

naun,

Intentional trolling. My mom is sharp and well aware of internet scams. (Well, she was 15ish years ago, when she did this. She’s slowed down a bit of late, but she’s careful to check with one of us to make sure things are on the up-and-up.) She had a blast messing with him.

ledtasso,

Is it used for any serious apps? I saw they released the “cosmos” which is very impressive but mostly seemed like basic utils that were already available in Linux/Mac?
