Its not the wrong unit, we just forgot how to update it and its working well enough. Also bite me I dont want to deal with decimals to know the tempeture on a more accurate level.
I also realized my american appliance do this same when I try to set them to celsius (nest etc). I guess that is where this unfortunate misconception comes from.
Various groups in the US have tried to convert and it failed because… There’s absolutely nothing wrong with the current system and very, very little to be gained by switching.
Also if the US actually switched, what would all the people who comment and complain about it on the Internet do with all of that free time? Get a hobby? Or start lobbying the whole world to switch to Kelvin?
I know this kind of post is not supposed to be taken seriously, but they’re so haphazard and forced that I don’t find them funny. I’m getting sick of these billions of poorly-thought-out “moral + lawful alignment” charts for things that have little to no morality or lawfulness attached, trying to tell us what kind of person we are if we do what, and being wildly off-the-mark. For this one and most others, most of the entries are “lawful good/neutral”, because they are valid and effective ways to protect your fucking bread, done by someone who sees it important to do so. If you really want to start categorizing the way tons of different people do shit, find a more appropriate format.
I was speaking to someone at a party and for some reasons the topic of 9/11 came up and they mentioned they weren’t born when it happened so I just stopped talking to them.
I’ve got a really personal connection to 9/11 so the memories surrounding it are really vivid for me. Was talking to a buddy the other day about it and he started laughing and I asked why. He said “You were playing with a pocket knife and I was shitting in my diapers.” It was at that moment I remembered he was born in 2000. My joints immediately were filled with sand.
