I remember some video. It was a joke about IT remoting in to fix a computer. The icons on the desktop were shaped like a dick. Then it guy took a screenshot and was like Iām definitely sending this to HR as he sorted them alphabetically. Then the other dude was like āno put it back, infant find anything!ā And the line that sticks with me, the IT guy says āthereās no sort by dickā.
I think a lot of Eastern European socialist states had ton of bribes (or sometimes āgiftsā) to get anything done, including in some places āgiftsā to your doctor.
Unfortunately Marx didnāt eliminate all the micro transactions
They are famously embargoed by America, except for food and medicine. Which is a pretty big deal, considering how important the US market is for any state in the American continents.
Or you had a friend who worked at the store or the factory and could get you stuff because they liked you. A hundred friends could get you further than a hundred roubles.
Itās a lot of fun. I remember taping it on VHS back when it was still airing on t.v. I would pause the VCR when commercials started so that it recorded episodes mostly unbroken.
Undoubtedly, had seen a few episodes on scifi back in the day and loved it, glad they made the series the universe has so much fun lore to explore, do any streaming services have it?
I tend to consider him right in basically all his criticisms, misguided in formulating the solutions.
Presumably he ran into the trouble a lot of generous, intelligent, and honest people have, they assume everyone is basically like them other than circumstance and stress.
And, obviously you can trust a fellow socialist to run the vanguard states, right?
They get it. Heirarchy bad, racism bad, sexism bad, heās been over this!
Or perhaps he was simply, like everyone, merely a product of his time. The workers of his day were barely literate, every state other than America and France (depending on what exact year weāre talking) were absolute monarchies, etc etc etc.
I am not American so I never understood that phrase. A stateās rights? Who gives a shit about a state? Isnāt everything about human rights like it always have been?
It's the 10th amendment. All other 9 amendments and many thereafter are in relation to human rights.
And states rights and human rights can actually go hand in hand, as seen by state legislatures that have passed assisted suicide, same-sex marriage, and legal cannabis laws. It has also been used to ensure electors cast their vote for the nominee or candidate who received the most votes from the people.
Unfortunately it's also been co-opted as a racist, misogynist dog whistle.
IMHO the bigger gotcha on the āstatesā rightsā lie is that the Confederate constitution gave states no more rights than the US constitution, while specifically denying one: the right to abolish slavery within their borders.
Interesting to hear that trying to annex places against the will of the people there is bad. Donāt think everyone claiming to follow Marx followed that rule lol
