JoMiran, in How to save kindle unlimited books after subscription ended
@JoMiran@lemmy.ml avatar

This might not be a very pirate thing to do but I cancelled my Kindle Unlimited when I found out I could get all of them, for free, delivered to my Kindle app, from my city’s library via Libby. Books, graphic novels, audiobooks, manga, and more, just there for the taking.

Here is how record companies have treated their own precious assets: en.m.wikipedia.org/…/2008_Universal_Studios_fire

10s of thousands of original master recordings lost forever. They should fucking be paying archive.org for preserving these artists’ works

*Edit: and of course Universal is one of the plaintiffs. I hate these fuckers so much

Ah Sony Music is involved.

Remember the time Sony Music installed a rootkit on peoples' computers via commercially purchased CDs because hacking paying customers' computers seemed like a good way to combat piracy?

Likely a combination of the community having more tech savvy individuals + realising Reddit would fuck over r/Piracy eventually, making more of them follow dbzer0 here when they were overthrown.

biddy,

Also r/piracy stayed shut for a while with a direct and easy link to this community. That’s how I found it.

Zeku, in How to automate windscribes ephemeral port update in qbittorrent?

If you happen to use gluetun (great project btw) you can use the environment property VPN_PORT_FORWARDING=on and a volume mapping to /tmp/gluetun/forwarded_port to obtain the port number from the container. Then with the bittorrent-port-forward-file container (Link) you can automatically set the port from the file to qbittorrent.
I use this with ProtonVPN and it works like a charm.

Here the relevant parts of my docker compose file:

<span style="color:#323232;"> gluetun:
</span><span style="color:#323232;"> image: qmcgaw/gluetun
</span><span style="color:#323232;"> &lt;...>

</span><span style="color:#323232;"> &lt;...>
</span><span style="color:#323232;"> - ./port-forwarding/forwarded_port:/tmp/gluetun/forwarded_port:rw
</span><span style="color:#323232;"> environment:
</span><span style="color:#323232;"> # See https://github.com/qdm12/gluetun/wiki
</span><span style="color:#323232;"> &lt;...>
</span><span style="color:#323232;"> - VPN_PORT_FORWARDING=on
</span><span style="color:#323232;"> - VPN_PORT_FORWARDING_PROVIDER=protonvpn
</span><span style="color:#323232;">
</span><span style="color:#323232;"> qbittorrent-port-forward-file:
</span><span style="color:#323232;"> platform: linux/amd64 #needed for raspi
</span><span style="color:#323232;"> image: charlocharlie/qbittorrent-port-forward-file
</span><span style="color:#323232;"> container_name: port-forward-file
</span><span style="color:#323232;"> depends_on:
</span><span style="color:#323232;"> - qbittorrent
</span><span style="color:#323232;"> - gluetun
</span><span style="color:#323232;"> restart: unless-stopped
</span><span style="color:#323232;"> volumes:
</span><span style="color:#323232;"> - ./port-forwarding:/config:ro
</span><span style="color:#323232;"> environment:
</span><span style="color:#323232;"> - QBT_USERNAME=
</span><span style="color:#323232;"> - QBT_PASSWORD=
</span><span style="color:#323232;"> - QBT_ADDR=gluetun:9092
</span><span style="color:#323232;"> - PORT_FILE=/config/forwarded_port
</span>

The file containing the port number sits at ./port-forwarding/forwarded_port on the host (you may need to create the empty file before first usage).

Android TV, I have the Shield Pro and nothing can’t beat:

  • TiVimate, IPTV
  • Kodi, best video player.

ffmpeg

Nimous,

It’s a very old tool. Is the quality decent?

beto,
@beto@lemmy.studio avatar

ffmpeg is written by Fabrice Bellard, who’s one of the most underrated programmers in the world (he also wrote QEMU). It’s probably the best tool out there, still actively maintained, and most commercial apps are probably using it under the hood for any kind of conversion.

Nimous,

Is qemu better than virtualbox and vmware workstation?

It depends on what you mean by better. Faster? More user friendly? More versatile?

retro, in Apple TV vs Firestick for pirated movies and series?

An Nvidia Shield Pro is hands down the best but it is much more expensive. Slap a third party launcher over the top and use it for streaming Jellyfin or Stremio or Kodi or whatever floats your boat. Super responsive and is android-based so you can sideload whatever you want. It also has the most compatibility with most codecs so you’ll be able to direct play more through Jellyfin rather than transcode.

From where I’m sitting it looks like classic overconfidence. I would say keep your eyes open in the future but don’t pick up the pitchforks just yet.

FeelzGoodMan420,

Thanks. This community needed your logical input. I’ve been following this over the past few days and it seems like a blatent Reddit-type pitchfork situation. Based on the mods response and the absolute lack of proof surrounding the mods profiting from the crypto miner (honestly who the actual fuck even came up with this?), I think we need to all take a beat.

Also I don’t follow cracked games but this Emperess person seems like a fucking psychopath and the fact that literally anyone here believes a word she says is absolutely astonishing.

I am asking this community to PLEASE STOP REPOSTING THIS. Don’t let this community follow the ways of Reddit, please. We are better than that.

I agree, this entire thing looks very blown out of proportion to me. It’s not the first time and not the last time there will be malware in a brand new game torrent on 1337x.

This exact situation has happened before with a new game torrent that had malware, torrent eventually got taken down, and nobody raised a huge fuss other than not to download that torrent.
