Buddahriffic,

Had about as much teeth as a jack-o’-lantern.

Buddahriffic,

Yeah, I came here to ask if the window falls out if you accidentally turn the handle while it’s open from the 2 to the 3.

Buddahriffic,

But… what if they evolve the ability to survive purges and then put the skill points into bursting out via abs?

Buddahriffic,

Why are you randomly bringing up not being a racist? Only a racist would say that!

-your logic

Buddahriffic,

Ok, then add that circuitry to the battery package.

Buddahriffic,

It’s all a spectrum. Our minds, in some ways, are brute forcing ways to approach survival. Each individual’s brain settles on some patterns that they determine work for them, and when you look at the collective, we can end up with very different ways of thinking but they are all based on balancing the number of neurons devoted to various tasks like visual processing, audio processing, social skills, various physical skills, etc. ADHD is based on how attention is tuned, both how long you can pay attention to something you might not want to and also how your attention is divided between tasks you’re focusing on vs other things going on around you.

Personally, I don’t really give that much attention to things going on around me. I’m usually either actively doing something or lost in my thoughts. This has the advantage of being able to think through things, but at the cost of missing things around me, which can include someone addressing me. It’s pretty much an always on thing. I do hear it and my brain can often process it after I realize I’ve been addressed. But I’d guess that most people are like that when they are actively concentrating their full attention on a task. Or thinking, I’m sure non-ADHD people do that, too, but the balance between time spent focusing on thoughts vs processing general surroundings might be different.

Though tbh I have no real idea. My entire experience is inside my own head and I can only guess at how different things are from brain to brain (and to what level other organs contribute to that, since they’ve all got neurons, and chemistry that they all play a role in can have huge effects, too).

Buddahriffic,

It’s not the legal status (fraud is already illegal), it’s proving that it is indeed a scam rather than some dumb shit they actually believed, as well as knowing that it’s more likely to trigger a persecution complex and doubling down than improve the lives of the victims (because if it’s a plot to harm their religion, they don’t have to feel like idiots for giving the scammer money).

It’s a different story if the religious scammer openly admits that it was always a scam and just doesn’t care what anyone thought of it. Easier to prove and the victims are already angry and feeling like idiots for falling for it.

Buddahriffic,

Yeah, I’d be all like, “wtf happened to my ad blocker!?”

Speaking of which, if you talk about ad blockers in your living room, do you get ads for those?

Buddahriffic,

Knife works better, since it’s a flat surface. A spoon would push it to the side instead of crushing evenly. Mortar and pestle is overkill unless you’ve got a lot of garlic to press.

Buddahriffic,

Or have 0 patience and gets frustrated easily and gives in to the monkey brain solution then eventually calms down and swallows their pride and brings it in to get fixed.

Buddahriffic,

I choose my parking spot knowing I’ll have a cart to return. Though around here, places with cart corals have a bunch throughout the parking lot.

Buddahriffic,

I wouldn’t say either are ruined. They just attract some fucked up people. I don’t think any media should be judged based on what kind of person obsesses with it and how they express that obsession.

With those two, you can even laugh knowing the people who make/made those shows don’t think highly of those fans.

I got that sense from the new Star Wars trilogy, too, especially ep 7 where Kylo is an obsessive Darth Vader fan who wore a helmet for no reason and wasn’t nearly as effective as his hero was (he loses a lightsaber duel to someone who hadn’t ever used a lightsaber before and his most destructive action in that movie is throwing a temper tantrum and destroying one of his own rooms).

Buddahriffic,

Yeah, I enjoyed this also and have written ray tracers for fun and for grades. And you’re right, this isn’t intro to algebra level stuff, I was just trying to capture the way learning can sometimes be simple and straightforward and then you suddenly hit a wall of unexpected complexity you don’t feel ready for.

Buddahriffic,

I’d love to help you with your question, but I have no idea.

Buddahriffic,

If the meme quota is not met, we might see crisis #4 start.

Buddahriffic, (edited )

Hmm it’s possible but I’d think a cat would easily be able to stay on its feet if the top was pushed off. But losing its balance and ending up like that also doesn’t make sense to me.

My guess is the picture taker gave the cat some kind of jump scare (which tbf could involve pushing on the top) and had the camera ready.

Though if that is the case, the joke might be on them because that cat might look for new places to do its business now that the litter box isn’t safe.

Edit: looked again at the pic and I see that this might be a box where the cat stands on top of the part that fell rather than that being like the top of a “cave” like I had at first assumed. That makes both the cases I didn’t think very likely much more likely and my own guess less likely.

Buddahriffic,

Semirhage from the Wheel of Time. She was a torture specialist who would use the one power and her knowledge as a top healer of the body and mind to use both pain and pleasure to turn her victims to the dark or send them to attack their loved ones. She was effective enough that they tended to either succeed or fail because they were found out, rather than the person deciding against it once they were free. Even those who had turned and were restored using age of Legends mind restoration techniques lived in constant fear of ever being in her hands again. They had to take special precautions to prevent prisoners from committing suicide after finding out they were being put in her charge. She was a sadist who would cause unnecessary levels of pain during her healing even before the bore was drilled and joined the dark because she was caught and offered the choice of oath rod vs violence or being severed from the source.

Though some of the other Forsaken give her a run for her money.

Graendal with her mind slaves that she would use for pleasure or just furniture.

Sammael who, when told that he was giving his prisoners of war half the food they needed to survive, immediately ordered half to be executed (and generally just fed them to the trollocs even when they had enough food).

Aginor who joined the shadow because they wouldn’t let him do the experimentation on animals and people that he wanted to. He then created the trollocs and other shadowspawn and took 10k people per day for experiments and fodder from the start of the war power to the end of it, potentially doubling that number in the last 5 years of it.

Moghedian who ran evil schools that had children at first informing on their loved ones and later carrying out their executions themselves. During the breaking of the world, these children caused chaos that seemed like they were racing against male channellers going mad to break the world.

Balthamel established breeding camps for humans to be fed to trollocs. He also had a temper that almost got him oath rodded before the war of power.

Plus just general genocide, terror, manipulation, war, and oppression by all 13 of them. These ones stand out a bit more in their cruelty. Ishamael ultimately didn’t want to be reborn anymore, Lanfear was obsessed with Lews Therin, Asmodean wanted to live forever and be a well known composer. Demandred, Be’lal, and Rhavin were jealous of Lews Therin’s success. Mesaana wanted to be a researcher. They all did evil shit and didn’t care about the people they hurt, but the ones in paragraphs above seemed to do it as the ends, rather than a means to an end.

Buddahriffic,

For me it was pretty much meat cuts like steak or pork chops. My parents erred on the side of making sure it was safe, so the steak was medium well or even well done and the pork chops would have little internal moisture left. I grew up thinking I just didn’t like those meats. I’m still not a big fan but I do understand that they can be cooked better now.

Though to balance it out, my mom was Italian and we had enough good pasta that I took pasta being good for granted.

Though to balance the balance, her tortiere was also very dry and she’d get offended if we wanted to add any sauces.

I miss her risotto with turkey giblets. Thanks to that (and maybe a lack of having it in other forms), I grew up liking organ meat.

Buddahriffic,

Yeah, there’s a kinda cheeky tone to :p and ;p that none of the graphical ones I’ve seen have captured. :S is another one, where I see it as half smile, half frown/sad. Like “this is amusing but also horrible” or “putting on a smile despite everything being awful”. Any of the smileys on my phone that have more than one curve for the mouth look either crazy or sick.

Buddahriffic,

I’ve had to re-disable auto correct options multiple times in outlook. I’m perfectly fine capitalizing my own letters because sometimes I type code snippets in emails and don’t want those being treated as if they are sentences that need grammar and spelling corrections. I don’t need your fucking angled quotes either.

Red or green underlines to say you think there’s a problem are ok. Changing what I’m typing without me telling you to is not.

Buddahriffic,

That knife game where you stab the table between your fingers as fast as you can.

This fast food order kiosk accepts cash (mander.xyz)

All the McD*nalds in my area have been upgraded with order kiosks. Regardless of all the controversy around self-checkout, and minimum wage, and automation taking our jobs, I personally love them. I can take my sweet time composing my order, I can see the full selection (such as it is), I can see pictures and prices clearly...

Buddahriffic,

Yeah, I’m in the drive thru and about to order when suddenly the list of items is replaced by a fucking ad. I’m already here and ordering, calm down with the fucking marketing.

Buddahriffic,

I had periods when I was younger where I’d be congested for months at a time.

Buddahriffic,

The Renaissance was fueled in part by the fall of Constantinople and all of the Greek texts that came with those who fled to Italy.
