That’s why it doesn’t make sense arguing about it with Wayland fans. They always find this one obscure feature that X is missing and then claim it’s absolutely essential for everyone to have it. Most people have just one monitor, two equal/similar monitors, a handheld device with one screen or (and that’s the vast majority) simply don’t give a fuck that one of their monitors is working on a lower refresh rate. I’m glad Wayland finally found some traction with gamers obsessed with those things and is being adopted but the constant BS about everyone needing it is getting boring.

I just use Super+p to run commands. Awesome and custom keybidings are to easily move between tags, windows and monitors, not to launch programs. I use nvim for coding and this combined with awesome means I can do a lot without touching my mouse. At work I use Cinnamon and IntelliJ tools and it’s just less ergonomic. Not a huge difference but I definitely prefer my home setup. In general all Linux WM I used over the years were easy to configure and get good experience. The worst environment I had to ever use was OS X. I just hated all their weir solutions like the launch bar and the common menu bar on top. On Linux I never had any issues.

I’m actually using nvim for rust development and it’s really fucking great but I’ve been using vi for like 25 years so for me the only issue was configuration, the editor is just natural for me. If you also have to learn the editor I don’t know what your experience will be.

As for configuring it for development I started with spacevim and managed with half the functionality normal IDE provides for quite some time. The experience was still good. About 6 months ago I set up nvim and now I have everything I need. I think setting up nvim for rust was as complicated as setting up spacevim. Spacevim provides way more out of the box but changing configuration is not easy at all.

I don’t worry about vim/nvim “schism”. The support is still great.

I would say just go with nvim, spend a week to set it up and don’t get too obsessive if small things don’t work. Enjoy the amazing responsiveness and great editor and you will figure out everything eventually. And if you have any questions just ask. I can share my config.

How do you know? What if the guy running the simulation actually monitors what we think and reacts to it? What if the personally decides to give people cancer or cure it? What if he copies our minds to simulation of hell after we die? What if 2000 years ago he copied himself into the simulation to get crucified?

Dental is tricky in many countries. It’s delicate, easy to go wrong and very often painful. In Poland I used to do simple things like fillings using public insurance and I’ve heard many times that I’m crazy and for sure they will fuck it up. I think it’s simply because it’s it expensive and will go wrong people will think it was inevitable. But if it’s free and goes wrong people will say it’s because it was free. So in my experience even if public insurance covers dental people tend to avoid it.

My take is that they don’t track you for fun. They track you to sell you shit. Most people buy what they see in ads and believe fake promotions so this is a good business model.

Best way to stay out is not to hide absolutely everything. It’s to block ads and don’t buy so much stuff. Obviously don’t give out data you don’t have to, block trackers, use privacy tools. But don’t feel bad if some data gets out. You will never block everything and a lot of it is not that important if you’re not playing the game.

Maybe they want to start pushing ads harder and are afraid that more people will discover ad blockers? Once people switch it may be harder to bring them back. So you first close all the exists and than start increasing ads per minute. Because where will everyone go? There’s no where else. Ad blockers are the only option really.
