Depends where you live and if there’s a minimum of labor laws. With the minimum wage around here I could easily afford a one bedroom apartment in the town I live in and I probably wouldn’t have any reason to work minimum wage since there’s an industrial sector in the town with businesses looking for staff. 7k in population, so services available including an hospital…
There’s a pretty fucking big difference between saying “I hope they got a Toyota because it’s the most reliable.” and “I hope they got a Toyota because otherwise they threw their money away.”
Your can get a Honda or Mazda and it will be just behind Toyota in reliability or it will be even more reliable than the equivalent Toyota depending on what kind of vehicle you want (Toyota has had some failures too in case you only look at what consumer report says but actually don’t know anything about cars) or you could get a Maserati and it will spend its time at the dealership.
Also, guess you should have kept your money instead of throwing it away?
There’s only five true public holidays applied throughout the whole of Canada
Quebec has their National holiday but no civic holiday. Only four provinces out of ten (two of those only for government employees), the territories and jobs under federal jurisdiction have the truth and remembrance day.
Even counting all of them there’s a big hole after the new year and the next one is… Good Friday which is 100% religious…
But at the federal level that’s 12 holidays that could be separated to get rid of religious holidays and to give everyone one long weekend every month!
80m premium subscribers, 2.7b monthly users… Do you really think that’s sustainable without having a secondary source of revenue? Because I don’t know that many businesses that survive from 3% paying customers…
That’s just for YouTube, but there are other websites that host content that wouldn’t be sustainable without ads and that would need to switch to a paid subscription format.
Is it so hard to admit that there’s something unusual about expecting websites to run out of the pocket of the owners/employees when we don’t expect real world businesses to do so?
I never said to do it while it’s in the middle of changing stuff, but if you just booted you can turn it off and nothing will happen because worst case it will just be downloading without installing, as someone else mentioned, once updates are installed you can even turn off without applying updates if you want and you can also tell it to only download and not install unless you tell it to or not download at all.
There’s a lot of issues that are a direct consequence of a high proportion of the population having a single family house though, let’s not forget that.
Urban sprawl which leads to over reliance on cars which leads to emissions… And with the hatred towards HOAs I don’t think people want to be told “Sure your can become an owner… as long as it’s a condo or a terraced house or another form of high density housing.”
There’s only so many single family houses you can build before it becomes a nightmare and since population is going up instead of staying the same or going down, well… Choices will need to be made…
What’s funny is that when you talk about illegal firearms in other countries, they must likely came from the USA (or in Canada’s case, they definitely came from there).
