I’m just a weird, furry, pan guy (cis he/him). I also have a big, blue username.

Currently on Earth for 8 years ensuring steps to unite humanity and usher us into the galactic civilization just so I can see my boyfriend again.

We were shown an A&E biography episode on Ray Crock my freshman year of high school for career class and they quoted the dude as saying

If my competitors were drowning in a sea of gasoline, I would throw in a lit match.

Milkshake man was ice fuckin’ cold!

The inability to play most games.

The first time I used Linux, I couldn’t get it to work with my NIC so I couldn’t play Counter-Strike. Big nope.

The second time, it wouldn’t work with my GPU properly so anything that used 3D graphics either didn’t run at all, or gave single digit frame rates.

The last time I tried, Wine just wouldn’t work with anything or would constantly crash.

Until Linux is just super easy, plug’n’play, “it just works” like Windows, it will never become my daily use OS. The only thing I would run Linux on currently are purpose specific machines using a raspberry pi or similar computer, a server, or my phone.

According to Steam, Arma 3. But I know for a fact that a lot of those hours were not technically in game because I would spent hours upon hours in Notepad++ scripting for my modules while I had the in-game editor running in the background to alt-tab in an test things every now and then.

TF2 is second, and that’s all actual play time, baby.

However, in Ultima Online I spent a good 8+ hours a day, every day, from 1997 to 2003. So probably that; I just have no actual counter for the time put in.

I was a new dog owner, went to /r/Dogs to ask about a particular behavior my dog was exhibiting I’d never seen or read about before (turned out to be normal tho) and every reply I got basically told me I don’t know how to care for an animal and that I should give him to someone else.

It was then I realized that it wasn’t just /r/RelationshipAdvice that was full of bitter, jealous losers whose advice is always “dump them.” It applied to literally every single subreddit dedicated to advice. They may have started with good intentions and knowledgeable people, but over time filled up with people who had no business giving anyone advice.

I’m a real big fan of grunge. All my discovery feeds are based off nothing but 90’s grunge.

Just look up “The Game of Life.” It’s not really a spread sheet, that’s simply how it’s displayed (grids of pixels that are either living, dead, or food) and it just kinda simulates an ecosystem in the most very, very basic of ways. All you can do to influence the game is change what a grid contains, with the goal (if you can say it has any) of keeping a sustainable system going.

Up = I like this

Down = I hate this

If you have more ups than downs: The viewers commonly liked it.

If you have more downs than ups: The viewers commonly hated it.

It’s simple and it’s how it’s always worked, and likely will continue to work, regardless of any deeper sentiments some people may have about it.

I wish there was a new button that simply meant “I have no opinion on this one way or another.” But I guess that’s simply non-engagement.

I agree with that last part; but why would someone be trying to get my text messages in the first place? There’s nothing there. I’m not holding any secrets of value to anyone for any reason. So there’s no reason for me to have crazy levels of security.

I’ve been on curated internet too long. Randomly stumbling into CP wasn’t something I expected to see outside of the dark web since the main Internet got so tame during the late 2000’s through the 2010’s.

Even if someone got into my messages, I wouldn’t be hurt by it. Not like I’m trying to overthrow a government or do crime or anything. They might see my butthole. Good for them, I say. More people should be looking at my butthole.

Do you guys also get super paranoid about being recorded when out in public? “We can’t talk here! They have eyes and ears everywhere!” Just what are you talking about where you need everything to be encrypted? 🤨

Kolanaki,

I’ve looked at Matrix and it’s exactly like Discord except it uses encryption on everything.

It also is filled with super shady rooms. You can very easily run into CP if you’re not careful.

When I figure it out, I’ll let you know. It’ll have been literally 20 years this August since I graduated and I still don’t know what job I want. Got a big long list of jobs I’ve tried that I don’t want tho.

For Android I’m finding Liftoff to be the best comparison to RIF so far.

However, I I am waiting to check out Boost. But for now, I’ve stopped using the other 2 big ones (Connect and Jerboa) altogether in favor of Liftoff.

Until Jon Stewart’s rant about Chicago Style deep dish, I had always thought I had Chicago style. But it’s actually Detroit style that I’ve had.

Personally, I prefer New York style, tho.

The only time I ever would’ve preferred silence to some background noise was when I was at a scout camp along the banks of a river and the cacophony of frogs and crickets at night was super fucking loud. I barely slept the whole time I was there.

Other than that, I always put on some kind of ambient sounds or yoga music.

Kolanaki,
@Kolanaki@yiffit.net avatar

I like headphones but if the music isn’t taking advantage of the left/right channels, it doesn’t matter if I listen on my big ass stereo. My only issue with headphones is after a while, my ears start to ache (the outside part I mean) and/or get uncomfortably hot. Even with my large monitors that go completely around and don’t actually touch my ears, I start to feel like they’re being squeezed.

IKR? You can have any alcohol but our choices of soda are just coke and orange fanta? 😩

I feel like /c/memes has taught us a valuable lesson today: Would it make sense to develop a feature to block a comm from our feed for a selectable unit of time (1 hour, 1 day, etc.)?

Even if we’re subscribed to them? Could a temp block exist in conjunction with a subscription? I love c/memes but holy shit no matter which sort I select by they’ve managed to overwhelm my feed.

Kolanaki,
@Kolanaki@yiffit.net avatar

I just prefer sorting options that don’t weigh posts. Like New or New Comments. I don’t have nearly as many similar posts appearing on the front page sorting by New Comments, and only posts with high levels of discussion stay on the FP.

If you’re going to sort by things that count all metrics to determine what’s “popular,” it’s always going to be memes and low effort bullshit.

They already have chocolate 3D printers, and lab meat is almost or already at market somewhere and would also actually make someone money in our largely capitalist dominated world, so I’m gonna go with that.

Kolanaki,

I’m just thinking that having food safe printing stuff makes it slightly closer to reality than the other option, even if the medium would require reengineering some of the internal parts.
