I don’t think I could ever go back to an off the shelf router anymore. Years ago I set up a pc with pfsense, hooked that up to a switch for my wired devices plus one to the wireless access point I bought from ubiquiti. Almost zero issues after setting it up, plus it’s much more flexible in that if my wireless dies, my wired devices still work. Or a component in the PC dies, I can just replace the part instead of the whole router. Takes some networking knowledge but really nothing you can’t learn from googling.
Vinny from Vinesauce on twitch will often play the most horrible mobile games/ads on Sunday streams and him and chat are always just absolutely shitting on them. It’s a great laugh, I highly recommend.
I’m not even a sysadmin, just a power user and this infuriates me to no end. I gave up on a search just a couple days ago because I kept getting bottom tier answers. Like thanks but I already know how to use my computer, now tell me how to fix this problem.

Had a similar experience. Toxic company that was awarded a contract hired in a bunch of people, gave us starting dates then a week before we were supposed to start they delayed our start data by 4 months. It only got worse and worse from there. I eventually quit when I was doing 4 other jobs, like with different pay scales and supervisors and everything, by myself. Killed any chances I had with IT since every other company around here doesn’t want to risk yet another burnout from that place. I had the same place interview me twice 6 months apart and both times as soon as they saw that company on my resume they frowned and kind of cut it short.
Dude I’m trying to learn how to program. Some days I can’t even get started until midnight when tired brain is kicking in. There’s just not enough time in the day.
Had a bad situation with an employer that claimed to support people with mental health issues right in their job posting. They gave me more work by putting everybody else they wanted to get rid of on weekends and cut the amount of staff and made us all cover each other’s jobs. In a call center where each job took at least a month of training. We were given a day’s worth for each. Well I finally snapped after 6 weeks when I got literally yelled at by some vip for not knowing how to do a job where I wasn’t trained in. And it wasn’t like they weren’t given warning. I had been talking to them trying to tell them I’m too stressed out to do this. My punishment for trying to reach out for support was for them to cut my pay but not the additional tasks they forced upon me. I walked out on them immediately after they punished me. This was a place that was toying around with not paying us for bathroom breaks. And I’m pretty sure working here hurt my chances at other job offers because I’ve had several interviewers see that company in my resume and roll their eyes when they ask about it because they’ve seen so many burnouts from that place they didnt want to risk another one.
Fuck this stupid fucking world. Fuck everything. I’m ready to just quit. There’s nothing I can do to make my life enjoyable anymore. The game is rigged and they’re not even trying to pretend it’s not anymore.

Seriously. What is it going to take to get people to cancel? Stop paying overpriced fees until they bring them back down to cost that’s worth it. Otherwise they’ll just keep getting scammed and never stop. I just don’t get it. Don’t they understand how economics work or something? Or do they feel like they HAVE to have it?
Hey Google, maybe you assholes should realize that if people are willing to jump through this many hoops to not watch ads then maybe you should realize that ads are the problem, not users. Nobody wants ads shoved down their throat so kindly go fuck yourselves. Advertising is a cancer. I’ve been trying to convince people how dangerous attention grabbing billboards are but nobody seems to care.
I use both. I’ve tried using Linux on desktop and there’s always been a few handfuls of minor but annoying enough issues that make just want to go back to windows on my main computer. For my laptop that I don’t use often, Linux is fine. For hosting services on my local network, Linux is fine. Neither are prefect but Linux definitely has come a long ways.
