No it’s not.

What makes 0°F (-17,7°C) special for a human body? Is it the limit after which we don’t feel any colder? No.

And what makes 100°F (37,7°C) special? Maybe we can’t feel any hotter? No, we can. Is it the body temperature? No. What is it?

Maybe 50°F (10°C) is perfect? Nah, cold!

If we change 0°F to, say, 0°C and 100°F to 40°C, does it change the notion that 0°F is very cold for a human body and that 100°F is very hot? No, and as a bonus you get 50°F equaling that perfect 20°C.

Fahrenheit scale is super arbitrary and it’s hilarious when it is posed as a “human-centric” scale. At the same time, the concept of Fahrenheit scale is unnecessarily complicated and the notion between Celsius is extremely clear - you can easily calibrate Celsius thermometer with nothing but kettle and freezer, right at home, right now.

Also,

  • Sub-zero Celsius = very cold, snow doesn’t melt, ice doesn’t melt
  • 0 Celsius = cold, ice gets slippery
  • 10 Celsius = jacket weather
  • 20 Celsius = comfy
  • 30 Celsius = hot
  • 40 Celsius = scorching
  • Above 40 Celsius = deadly, leave the area ASAP (short exposures like sauna don’t count). Also, fans stop cooling you down and now heat you up instead.

Simple enough.

Debian uses its own version of the Linux kernel with proprietary parts removed; however, if you want to install it on a machine that does have hardware for which there are no free drivers (which is to say almost any machine out there in the market), you’ll have to install proprietary parts; in the last version, Debian 12, system does that by default.

Intel Management Engine is a CPU-level microprogram that runs with highest priority and does not have open code, so essentially every PC with Intel CPU runs some arbitrary code we cannot verify. Same for AMD Platform Security Processor by the way, so there is no simple escape.

Oh and BIOS is proprietary too, and only a few select machines can have a fully libre BIOS successfully installed on them.

Thereby even if you go to essentially libre version of Linux, there will, almost universally, be pieces of obfuscated code with no disclosure on what they’re doing there.

I just don’t bother going for archinstall when regular installation “from scratch” takes 5 minutes (or 15, if you do it the first time). It is not scary and extremely simple, contrary to memes. Besides, it makes you understand the processes involved.

Archinstall is just a little, nice helper to shorten and simplify installation even more.

I’d argue you still have one skeleton if you lose limbs or teeth.

Amount of skeletons is an integer representing the anount of bone structures holding and protecting human body (or whatever’s left of it).

The real question is, how much of which parts of skeleton can we lose with it still being skeleton instead of a set of bones?

Besides what another commenter noted about indistrialization being product of capitalism and then fierce competition, here’s one more thing:

Do you see all those green activists buying reusable bags? Taking their bottles, recycling everything? Well, this has already been there in the past, and most notably - in socialist countries. Pretty much till its death USSR, for example, heavily favored reusable things, there just weren’t plastic bags and plastic bottles and all that waste, and recycling, especially of glass and metal and paper, was a super normal thing and people got money/trade-in for that.

Most people have extremely weird ideas of what’s considered piracy and what isn’t. Downloading a video game rom is piracy, but if you pay money to some Chinese retailer for an SD card containing the roms, that’s somehow not piracy. I think the post is not quite about that.

Anti-semitism exists, absolutely yes. But condemning the state of Israel of war crimes is not example of one, no matter how Israeli government tries to twist it.

If you support the action of Israel against the civilians of Palestine, it doesn’t matter if you’re a Jew or not - you deserve the scorn you get.

If you’re a Jew and you do not support this hell, I’m very sorry if you get any hostility directed to you, you’re a victim too. You deserve love and safety. Condemnation of the actions of Israel is in no way directed at you.

But Israeli military generals and government should face international trial for what they’ve done. It is crazy somebody in their right mind dares to support them in the 21st century.

Arch is easy to install; it’s a headache to manage.

If you want a stable Arch, you need to check the updates and take very granular control over packages and versioning.

While some nerds may like tinkering with their system in all those ways, for regular user Arch is simply too much effort to maintain.
