Title pretty much. Some days ago I noticed several of the frequent posters that made this community so enjoyable and lively have left and stopped posting here, supposedly due to some behind the scenes drama....
Oh I got a notification anyway from some random bot saying that my comment had been linked to so even if you didn’t tag me I would have known. That being said, I didn’t feel that was impolite at all. Totally makes sense that you would and I’d have done the same. I only deleted the comment because It was less polite than I’d have liked it to be and something that made more sense as a private message to someone than an open comment. That plus the fact that I wasn’t trying to start shit with the comment.
Can you please edit your comment to reflect your source on this? For the record, I know the source and it’s just straight up factual with Israel outright confirming it happened, but yeah. Just to help prevent some reports. Thanks <3
On version 0.19 you can block instances so that you don’t see any posts from that instance, instead of having to block communities one by one, you still see comments from users of that instance in other posts so it isn’t completely blocking the instance.
Heavily considering blocking sh.itjust.works to be honest. That instance now has admins that care but for a very long time they didn’t. Led to a lot of bad actors making accounts on that instance because they knew they could get away with more. Most trolls I’ve seen lately are from that instance and its getting a little exhausting.
I cannot tell you how much I need this on my wall. Desperately. I want a nice resolution one just on a canvas on my wall… fuck. Who do I have who I can annoy a Christmas gift out of…
I’ll go first. Mine is that I can’t stand the Deadpool movies. They are self aware and self referential to an obnoxious degree. It’s like being continually reminded that I am in a movie. I swear the success of that movie has directly lead to every blockbuster having to have a joke every 30 seconds
Okay. Rise of Skywalker is a walking pile of dog shit that has a wildly inconsistent take on everything. However. I have never had a single problem with that line and I am stunned so many people did. That was a rebel talking to other rebels. Why, exactly, would they know anything about how Palpatine returned? Dude was on a planet out in the middle of uncharted space. I literally cannot think of another way for them to tell each other that Palpatine returned without evoking vague imagery like that. They literally do not know what happened.
Not asking anyone to say anything positive about anything. I’m just asking people to be positive. Something that a lot of people seem to be utterly incapable of.
It’s DSC. Not STD. Calling it STD has never made sense and is just a flagrant insult to the show. No other shows acronym starts with ST. Stop being so disrespectful. You can share your opinion without mocking stuff, especially given the description.

And there’s plenty to like as well. But once again, thanks for looking at this posts description about positivity and flagrantly ignore it to give throwaway negative comments. You did the same thing over on another post earlier of someone saying they like Discovery. I’m so tired of this hatefilled focus on Discovery. So many people here are able to share their opinions about not liking Discovery respectfully and without randomly throwing it in everyones faces. Why do people like you have to always double down and drill in that hatred everytime it’s even mentioned? You’re just… exhausting.

I see it in Star Trek all the time too. My namesake, Stamets, is a character in Star Trek: Discovery who is gay. He’s the first gay main Trek character in the entire history of the series. Honestly it is the only real depiction of homosexuality across all of Star Trek in general. When he was introduced as a character, he was just the science guy. Then two or three episodes in, he breaks his nose and goes to sickbay to get it treated. A Doc, Culber, treats him and is snarky to him. At the end of that episode, you see Culber and Stamets brushing their teeth together in the same bathroom and you realize they’re actually a couple and together. That Culber was being snarky and bitchy because the man he loves injured himself and is being a dick, not because he’s just a dick character himself.
That was in 2016 and the backlash was white hot and while it’s died down a bit, it’s still there. I constantly see people saying that “Oh why does he need to be gay?” or “Being gay doesn’t add anything to his character” as if being straight does. It always just boils down to “I don’t want to see that because I am made uncomfortable by gay people” 100% of the time.
Getting real sick of flagrant homophobes trying to pretend that they give a shit about the quality of a TV show and whether something is shoved in or not when there are more unsightly straight romances than there are stars in the sky and no one seems to give a flying fuck.
To help contribute, here’s the only meme I’ve ever done, which I did in response to news that Abrams was working on a new ST movie. And after seeing how well the franchise is going with SNW and LD, I feel it’s even more appropriate.
Oh absolutely. Visually those movies are stunning. Like yeah, you can argue about plot and what not all you want but the shots of Into Darkness of the Vengeance sliding across San Francisco? Absolutely fucking amazing. And that shot of the Enterprise on a death spiral through the sky before the camera stops and you see the Enterprise slowly rise through the clouds? I have goosebumps thinking about it. I’m gonna need to rewatch that scene again.
Beyond has one of my favorite ship destruction sequences in all of Star Trek. Just the glory of the Enterprise cruising through space before having its throat unceremoniously slit was… Honestly it was a gut punch. Then seeing the saucer section bashing through mountains before crashing to a stop? FUCK! Not to mention the follow-up scene of reactivating the thrusters and causing the saucer to flip over.
Honestly the visuals are a huge reason as to why I enjoy the movie so much.
Yes, and blasting it on speaker mode is a whole different problem. One that mainly ends with that person being an inconsiderate asshole and forcing everyone in the vicinity to listen to their conversation.
It’s just ‘Main Character Syndrome’ energy and needs to fuck off.
But it is tho. Being an actual adult is taking care of yourself and maximizing what you can do and how to do it. How best to support onesself. Not suffering for the sake of suffering and then insisting everyone else suffer as well.
