Indomie. This stuff cooks up more like a lo mein than the normal instant ramen (noodles floating in broth), but if you want to try something different:
Barbeque Chicken is the good one (it’s like Korean BBQ)
Comes with 3 separate sauce packs, dry seasoning, and fried onion - boil the noodles, strain all the water out, mix all the packets together except the onion, then add them to the noodles. Mix the onion in right before serving (it’ll get squishy otherwise).
Solids vs liquids - could you elaborate on that? Soap seems like an obvious example, and a couple specific food items like broth vs powder… but that’s all I can think of off the top of my head.
I’ve saved literally a couple thousand+ dollars and a shit load of time by cutting my own hair.
Buzzed is easy mode if you’ve got the head for it (definitely NOT a good look for everyone, so proceed with caution).
Actual styles are doable by feel / with a double mirror setup, but that ofc comes with a learning curve, and it WILL look janky until you get a feel for it.
I spent $30 on an electric clipper over 15 years ago - paid for three haircuts since then, which were all mandatory purchases in basic training. Easily the best $30 I’ve ever spent.
Also, super short hair takes like two drops of shampoo per shower, so if you go the buzzed route, you’ll save a lot on hair products too.
You ever see a dog that’s got its leash tangled the long way round a table leg, and it just cannot grasp what the problem is or how to fix it? It can see all the components laid out in front of it, but it’s never going to make the connection....
I just drop a mph every couple seconds until they fuck off. Don’t break check, as that’s super dangerous for you and everyone around you; don’t change lanes to accommodate them (unless you’re the source of the bottleneck and camping in the fast lane, in which case GTFO), since transitions are when accidents tend to happen; but you can absolutely slowly annoy a tailgater until they leave your bubble.
Immediate concern is difference in scale - we’re a drop compared to Meta’s ocean, and I don’t see how we can have any shred of hope moderating the tsunami of content that’ll be heading our way.
Long term is EEE. I have zero expectation that Meta would handle a union with the fediverse ethically, and that’s their ticket to killing it off before it has the chance to grow into any kind of real competition.
The conversations about Threads has me nervous about that bit. If “because it’s fucking Meta!” isn’t reason enough to defederate with them by default, we’re looking at getting hit with a tsunami of content that will be impossible to moderate. Guess we’ll see.
Most comfortable watch I’ve had was a cheap $5 Casio. The comfort came in the form of the mental game of not giving a damn any time I whacked or scuffed it on something.
Wore a ‘nice’ watch (gift, no idea how much it cost) for a bit, and had a mini-heart-attack every time it faced any potential damage.
Oh, I’m sure the official recipe has a whole laboratory worth of goodies in it - but the one you can make in your own kitchen: shortening to volume, powdered sugar to taste/texture.
Goya. It’s easy to forget amidst the tsunami of far more severe bullshit between 2016 and 2020, but when Trump abused his authority to hawk a fucking bean advertisement in the oval office instead of leading the country during a pandemic… yeah, decided I’d never buy a Goya product again, ever.
I played WoW a bit after its initial release through the first couple xpacs. Getting the MMO itch again, but I know the WoW I grew up with doesn’t really exist anymore, so now I’m pretty out of touch....
I’ve never really paid any attention to Warframe, but just youtubed it. Kinda intrigued. How’s the co-op? One of the reasons I wanted an MMO is that a friend of mine is in the same boat looking for something new. We tried Elden Ring hearing that it was co-op, but ER’s co-op is little temporary instances of pulling another player into your world - you can’t actually progress together. The content I’ve seen so far on Warframe looks very single-player oriented, and ER has given me trust issues with things like that, lol.
RvR is realm vs realm. Sometimes it’s called WvW for World vs World. Basically it’s large scale siege style combat - you and like 50 other players from your server are attacking or defending objectives sought by another server, so you get 100+ players clashing in pure chaos. It’s a good time when it’s done right.
And yea RvR wouldn’t mesh well with a shooter. Guild Wars 2 had it, I think Elder Scrolls Online had it, but that game didn’t hold my attention very long, so might be thinking of something else. Anywho, it’s more a traditional-style MMO thing, and not super common even among them.
I got pics of my foot during surgery and pics of it a week after the operation. I’d love to share it with people and discuss how neat the human body is. I don’t want to subject people to it who aren’t interested in it, though.
My surgeon seemed super pumped that I got this type of fracture. Apparently you have to twist your ankle in a very specific way to get a fracture like this. He told me all about it and he was so enthusiastic. He got even more excited when I asked him to take pics of the inside of my foot because I wanted to see it.
His enthusiasm has made the experience less terrible lol.
Surgical tech, here - those types of surgeons are an absolute blast to work with, and tend to be the most skilled.
What are some small things we should change about the human body?
Ripping off a post I just saw in the Isaac Arthur subreddit. Imagining we work out the technical ability. Examples they suggested were:...

Are there any communities here where I can share NSFW medical images?
