Awesome! I got a tortilla press too!

TheGiantKorean,
@TheGiantKorean@lemmy.world avatar

Absolutely it counts! I think you’ll def notice a difference.

Fuscia Dunlop is awesome! Dan dan noodles are delicious (I think they’re in that book, if you’re looking for a recipe to try our first).

Lol, yeah we had some Mexican food in Seattle. It was… ok. Glad you got a tortilla press!

Very nice gifts. I bet your starter is loving its new home.

Looks fantastic! Interesting additions to the sauce, I bet that was really good. I’ll have to try adding a splash of soy sauce to my sauce sometime. I’ll often throw in a stock cube.

[QUESTION] Do you have any favorite quick broth recipes for homemade instant ramen?

I picked up a bunch of unflavored instant ramen packets with the intention of making my own. I’m a big fan of Korean Ramyun packs and make them often, but they are getting pricy nowadays. Does anyone else in c/cooking do this as well? What are your favorite quick broth recipes?

TheGiantKorean,
@TheGiantKorean@lemmy.world avatar

Sure! Sometimes I throw other stuff in there, too. Sichuan peppercorn is nice.

I’ve never been, but I’ve heard great things.

(Discussion) 2 day cold ferment, underproofed, underbaked, Tomato and Olive Bread (sh.itjust.works)

I cut 2 slices off, and they were terrible, as the title says. Gummy, flavor not fully developed. Exactly what I want. This is what I want from a sandwich bread. I will slice and toast this for the next few days. Toasting will firm it up, develop Maillard reactions, and allow any liquid to be sponged up. Marinated Pork Belly,...

Cool, thanks! I have some plants that I brought indoors that are under a grow light. I can try putting some garlic in a pot and see how it goes.

TheGiantKorean,
@TheGiantKorean@lemmy.world avatar

We’re not removing them. We’d just like to encourage people to use them.

TheGiantKorean,
@TheGiantKorean@lemmy.world avatar

Oh yeah, good call. That would be delicious.

TheGiantKorean,

Thanks man! One day we should split one 😂

I’m thinking about getting metal legs. It’s a risky operation, but it’ll be worth it.

[Question] Are you cooking something other than turkey for Thanksgiving?

My wife and I rarely cook turkey for Thanksgiving. This year we’re coming Cornish hens. In previous years we’ve cooked duck, leg of lamb, and rib roast. It’s not that we don’t like turkey, but there are lots of other things that I think I’d prefer eating....

Love how it looks. It looks like Christmas!

TheGiantKorean,
@TheGiantKorean@lemmy.world avatar

Thanks for pointing that out!

TheGiantKorean,
@TheGiantKorean@lemmy.world avatar

That sounds fantastic! I’m a big proponent of cooking the white and dark meat separately.

TheGiantKorean,
@TheGiantKorean@lemmy.world avatar

Yes, that I’d be down for!

TheGiantKorean,
@TheGiantKorean@lemmy.world avatar

We switched to these also, and they work great. We also tried this with dishwasher detergent, though, and didn’t have as much luck. Maybe it was the brand we chose.

TheGiantKorean,
@TheGiantKorean@lemmy.world avatar

This would be fantastic! I’ll look around in my area.

I made a tool to make it trivial to time your turkey thawing. (turkeythaw.com)

I whipped this up today because I am always having to look it up and figure out when I am supposed to put my turkey from the Freezer to the Fridge. I plan to pretty it up over the next few days but hopefully this will be helpful to others (me too since I am cooking a turkey for Thanksgiving and Christmas this year). I am open to...

These look nice, thanks for the links! Some reviews say the coating comes off after a bit, but I guess that’ll happen with anything. These don’t look like teflon - any idea what the coating is made of?

TheGiantKorean,
@TheGiantKorean@lemmy.world avatar

Cooking time, maybe? I’ve had some dry bakes before when I’ve cooked for too long. Adding butter is never a bad idea, though 🤤
