What is good to eat when you have no appetite?

I am super sick right now and haven’t eaten much in a few days. It’s getting to the point where I am gonna need to force myself to eat something to keep my strength up but everything just sounds terrible to me right now. I have been subsisting mostly on small glasses of milk and the occasional packet of instant oatmeal....

TheGreenGolem,

Chicken broth, yes! I tend to cure my hungover with it. Works wonders.

When one head is cut off, Hydra’s grow back 2. Check out the Hercules animated movie, it’s really good and has this scenario.

Edit: Anyone who attempted to behead the Hydra found that as soon as one head was cut off, two more heads would emerge from the fresh wound. www.britannica.com/topic/Hydra-Greek-mythology

TheGreenGolem,

As the old saying goes: being poor is expensive.

TheGreenGolem, (edited )

I don’t get what the fuck is the problem with Ubuntu anyway.

Edit: I mean I heard the reasons many times but they are completely non-issues for me.

TheGreenGolem,

That’s true! But I think more than one “front” can be open in this battle. And we also need the ones that can be won quicker or easier. Or at least start those too.

TheGreenGolem,

Exactly, you are going to lower and lower powers. (Is power the word in English here?)

ax², bx¹, cx⁰

TheGreenGolem,

It’s so strange that it was always taught me as a²+b²+2ab. Of course I know it doesn’t matter, but still strange to see it this way.

TheGreenGolem,

On a similar vein, my first car was an Opel Astra G (2004) (Vauxhall for UK people.) I loved it. It was incredibly reliable. I knew when we went onto a 4000 km roadtrip that all I will have to do is pumping gas into it.

TheGreenGolem,

Italy. From Hungary. We were there for about a week going through major cities, like Rome, Naples etc. It was a very intense week. I never walked and drove so much before or even since then.

Seeing read-posts despite "show read posts" being un checked

I have “show read posts” unchecked, so I shouldn’t see them. I can still see them. I didn’t see them yesterday, when lemm.ee was 0.18. I do see them today after 0.19 update. I’ve toggled it on, saved, then off, saved. Still seeing read posts.

TheGreenGolem,

It’s the same for me. I’ve already cleared the cache in FF and for Jerboa too. Tried to log out and log in. Tried to turn off and on the feature again to no avail. It’s the same on all of the instances where I have registration and migrated to 0.19.

TheGreenGolem,

In my country you can set an upper limit to the automatic payments. (It’s mandatory for the banks to implement.) So I just put in like plus 3-4 dollars as the max they can withdraw above my average bill and I’ll just get a notification if they try to withdraw above that limit (and they would be refused to do so). Fortunately it never happened.

TheGreenGolem,

Hungary.

TheGreenGolem,

I read this story in Barney Stinson’s voice.

TheGreenGolem,

Actually it was my second.

Naaah, it was the first.

TheGreenGolem,

There is an episode of HIMYM where they are in a similar situation. Before the smart phones they would argue over some things for days, now they just check it in 10 seconds. No fun.

TheGreenGolem,

Not even 20 years ago smart phones and the internet weren’t ubiquitous. I’m only 35 but even I remember personal stories about bar disagreements where we just simply couldn’t use our phones to search the net. Because all they were capable of is dialing a number and Snake.

TheGreenGolem,

Exactly. Our legal drinking age is 18, but we were binge drinking every Friday from the age of 15. Not one bartender gives a shit here. At least back in the day. That’s 2003-2004.

TheGreenGolem,

Me too. I just hate everything that should be on my wrist or neck. They are just really not comfortable for me.

TheGreenGolem,

OpenTofu. What the hell were they thinking?

TheGreenGolem,

Don’t get me started on that! My wife is the same. I recommend a show, multiple times. Nope, not interested. But as soon as one of her girlfriends even mentions it that she should check it out “Okay, we should start watching that show!” THAT’S WHAT I RECOMMENDED FOR YEARS NOW!

TheGreenGolem,

I don’t really hate them. I have a Pixel, I use almost all of their consumer products and mostly I really like them. They are mature products with a lot of features and mostly reliable. Heck I even have Location History always turned on. It’s good on Saturday afternoons to see where the hell I was blackout drunk on Friday. Jokes aside I like to see in what countries or cities I was in 15 years ago. One exception is Chrome, which got way too big and needs some serious competition.

What bothers me is *mostly *on app level, not on corporate Google level. What I do not like on corporate level though is:

  • they kill everything I start to like (Inbox, Google Reader)
  • they cannot create a single unified message service right (see also point 1)
  • they don’t have an ad-free paid tier for Google One. Like one where you don’t see any ads in any of their products (not even sponsored links on search, no promotion in gmail, no YT ads, no nothing). I would pay serious money for it.
