last time I checked Windows was the dominant player

Huh? I am confused now. Has the cycle come back around again because in the late 90s/early 2000s last I checked when I was into this stuff, Apple was king with Pro Tools. It's been a while, I used to mess around with FL Studio 20 years ago.

I ONLY EDIT TEXT BY TOGGLING OUT ASCII CODES ON A ROW OF SWITCHES DIRECTLY CONNECTED TO MY PARALLEL PORT\n

I COULD ONLY AFFORD SIX SWITCHES. BIT 5 HAS A PULLDOWN RESISTOR ON IT\n

I find it interesting that the machines of Zero One decided to use Brainfuck as their language.

And both of them are just remixes of Debian. So why not just use the base distro for all of them?

Whoa there, Satan.

I still install the MatrixGL screensaver every once in a while for shits and giggles on a new install until the gimmick wears out.

It's a matter of perspective. To me, an Apple II is ancient. This is last month.

From the atomic age into the information age. That date is a good marker.

It's been in the space dock getting built for the past 30 years tho...

I for one am glad something I started learning 30 years ago is still in widespread use. It's both an ugly and a beautiful language at the same time.

I'm an electronics hobbyist. This triggers a panicked sequence of shutting off every power switch and yanking every cord within reach.

I once had some lipo battery leads accidentally touch and weld themselves together, and the second I saw that glow and smoke, ripped the wires apart with full force.

Those transmission gears would probably work way better without those teeth on 'em.

"Culture war" = "issues that don't affect me personally".

When your program dereferences dangling pointers and throws exceptions and runs out of stack space due to fragmentation and leaks.

I thought we ditched Windows because we were tired of doing that?

balance power away from the 1% and back to the masses

By installing a dictator...every time it's attempted...

Maybe not do that next time and try doing it from the bottom up instead of top-down🏴. It's much more work to convince people that this is a solution and have them help willingly instead of forcing them to go along with it. We tried the Marxist-Leninist way dozens of times, let's try the anarchist way. A capitalist boot or a communist boot on my neck makes no difference to me, it's still a boot on my neck.

Rojava is doing exactly as I suggested. Spreading the power out. It's a rare bird among the many communist attempts. I was actually going to offer it up as an example.

That's one way to deal with software fragmentation I suppose.

You have to wait until 930am Monday morning to do that. Everybody will appreciate it more.

"Fuck. Well, guess I better save for retirement."

Am a 41 year old dad who grew up with Quake, Doom, and Unreal Tournament, and now have a 12 year old son who is also growing up on games. The boomers who didn't have a clue are dying. Those were OUR parents who didn't know diddly squat about gaming, not this generation's parents.
