This isn’t Linux, but Linux-like. Its a microkernel built from the rust programming language. Its still experimental, but I think it has great potential. It has a GUI desktop, but the compiler isn’t quite fully working yet....
I do use python quite a bit for scripting and backend, app, and I’ve used MicroPython a little bit, preferring C, C++ for embedded. It’s pretty great for what I need.
I might mess around with Rust out of curiosity anyway, though the downsides you mention make it less compelling for me, personally. I’m not a big fan of verbose languages (e.g., Java, though I have used it for some apps).
Trying to repair a Hyperkin Duke Xbox controller where the left trigger doesn’t respond. Found that the resistance of this potentiometer doesn’t change when it’s moved, so I’m looking to replace it. I’m a novice with this stuff though and I’m having trouble identifying it. Any help is appreciated.
I stuck with Mint for about a decade but switched to Nobara for gfx drivers. Now that Mint is on a newer kernel I’m seriously thinking of going back because my current distro is just not as stable as Mint was. And I like Cinnamon better than Gnome. I miss my Mint.
What killed it, well after reviewing some PS4 gameplay I noticed that it was having audio issues, like it would allow some sounds but not all. It was almost as if it was receiving a 5.1 audio output but was missing the centre channel. Even though the PS4 was set to stereo....
I need to look into foraging. I am sure there are tons of things even in landlocked Colo. I was surprised to find weeds in my yard that are an ancient grain, for example.
I have noticed that I interact a lot more in Lemmy than I ever did in any social media. Let it be Reddit, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter… I am used to be the lurker, but here for some reason things are different. Wonder if more people feel like I do.
I also have found the discussions more mature, usually, even in some cases where the other person is to my right or left on the political spectrum (I am in the progressive / social democrat range). Of course there are always some that post in bad faith but it seems like the ratio of those to others is lower here, thankfully.
