What are the best steps to reduce the wealth of billionaires?

There are a myriad of news articles here on Lemmy that display the abhorrent influence billionaires have on our society (especially the US, where I reside). I consistently read comments where the posters appear hopeless and despondent of the situation, while others jokingly refer to the guillotine....

foggy,

I’m not sure, I kinda feel like we could use GUILLOTINES the way GUILLOTINES have been used historically, to spread that happiness around.

foggy,

The craziest part to me is that it wasn’t until they started forcing them to be stuck inside phones all the time that they started exploding. And yet the FTC still doesn’t give a shit

foggy,

I’d straight up tell a boss that asked for unpaid overtime that their failure to allocate resources is money out of my pocket if and only if you want to hear from the DoL.

foggy,

Vendors fulfil through Amazon because they handle returns.

Even big stores utilize them for this.

Suffice to say, it is difficult unless you’re outside the US.

Played fine for me, sound and all.

She has the same cadence and accent as my therapist lol.

If only her advice was this hilarious

I think you’re mistaking how little would need to be invested.

I think my dad would start listening to his god-omen stock predicting son after a few missed billions.

“Dad listen, my college tuition? Fuck it. Put it down on Bitcoin in Jan of 2009 and sell on November 9th 2021 for ~$25T.”

I’d have over 10 trillion cash after taxes. Literally would have more cash than anyone on earth.

  1. Edibles
  2. You can take nips of liquor through security.

I respect an appreciate your effort.

I will someday inherit my parents nonsense and find the VHS amongst the masses and update this post (This is a lie).

If it helps, a place the frog takes Howard is a famous theater in NYC. that’s like a quarter of the whole short film.

I know this doesn’t help, but throughout this movie the sound effect of the ducks flying is just a person breathing with a small open mouth, swiping their tongue left to right. Do it, and you’ll get it.

foggy,

Well yeah.

Jesse Pinkman’s life was only spared on Walter’s word, yo.

foggy,

My first job, I worked at a big box retail store. The guys that worked there forever and full time were still on 100% commission. Us kids/part timers made like $8/hr and also meager amounts of commission that would total anywhere between $2/hr and $12/hr during the holidays and stuff. This was back in like the mid 2000s, so it paid very well for a no-skills job! These stores phased commission out shortly after my time.

When it was slow, and Id go on break, the old guys would usually tell me to just come back to close up and punch out. I was like 17, so giving up $2/hr was not a big deal, I had like no expenses in my life but gas. Old guys made a little more on the slow days. I walked around a mall.

It was great.

My gf feeds her cats leafy greens whenever they go after her plants.

It’s not a perfect solution but it works-ish

foggy,

It is so close to accurate to say “they accept you at your worst,” but we all know the toxic “if you can’t accept me at my worst…” Kinda people.

Id say it’s more like

  1. History of self advocacy and/or intolerance for their own mistreatment
  2. They accept or at least make an effort to understand you when you’re at your low points.

These two together kind of ensure no issues fester or arise in a manner such that they’re not dealt with.

What is good to eat when you have no appetite?

I am super sick right now and haven’t eaten much in a few days. It’s getting to the point where I am gonna need to force myself to eat something to keep my strength up but everything just sounds terrible to me right now. I have been subsisting mostly on small glasses of milk and the occasional packet of instant oatmeal....

foggy,

I find greasy umami stuff in small quantities gets me from “hunger nausea” to “hunger”

E.g buttered toast.

foggy,

It’s ok to kiss your mom, just like, not on the lips.

foggy,

My coworker has notifications on on his phone and I hate him for it.

Put it on vibrate and keep it in your pocket, or keep it silent and just check it religiously like the rest of us addicts. Ugh. The nerve.

But seriously it’s annoying af.

foggy,

They said “obscure little”, not “the most popular and hyped metal act currently, with sold out shows worldwide”

foggy,

I looked at a 400k home that literally had standing water in the basement at the time of the showing.

That would cost me and my gf a solid ~4k/month for 30 years with a 20% down payment.

Bank profits over $1M

foggy,

The American Dream is dead.

The American Caste System is based on land ownership.

What are some easy ways that you can improve energy efficiency and be more eco-friendly in your rental apartment?

For starters, you can add weather stripping to outside-facing doors and windows. If your landlord doesn’t want to pay for it, then it can be found cheaply on aliexpress. Also, add insulation outside-facing switch covers and outlet plates.

foggy,

The old orphan crushing machine.

“Every heartwarming human interest story in America is like ‘he raised $20,000 to keep 200 orphans from being crushed in the orphan-crushing machine.’ And then never asks why there is an orphan-crushing machine or why you’d need to pay to prevent it from being used.”

foggy,

It’s a slow grind, but I suggest consulting. It sounds like you have a diverse set of skills that could be of use to some companies.

My method is to apply to jobs that I can tell barely need to hire someone. A small juice company hiring a full time web developer? lol, no. A shoe store that needs a network admin for 50k??! bro.

I apply to these jobs and instead of applying, I sell. I have a website setup that has projects, certs, resume, git, art projects (digital). It all shows I can do a lot of different stuff. I talk to them about their actual need, and suggest that an ad hoc relationship should work (if it could)

I have some clients at $150 a month and 2 hrs per month, plus $75/hr after 2 hrs. I have some clients at $1500 a month, and 20 hrs per month. More like $200/hr beyond agreement. I assess on case by case basis.

I have 12 clients. I have a guaranteed $5000+ a month. I don’t work that much. Sometimes I have to cancel plans to work an emergency all nighter (if I fucked up…)

I have outsourced work before as well.

It’s taken me since 2019 to get here. I’ve tended a lot of bar since then to make ends meet, but it’s working now.

foggy,

Just call your credit card company and say that you do not authorize any further transactions with them, and any that are attempted are illegitimate.

That’s what creditors are literally for.
