lud,

Yeah, just took at his more recent thumbnails and titles. It feels like just ragebait. He is just angry at everything.

I stopped watching his videos when he started to put some effort into making clickbait thumbnails, because I felt the videos became much worse.

lud,

Would you really want to live that long?

Let’s say I was 40, no fucking way would I reset and reset and reset.

I assume that you have to reach the same age you first got the pills at. So just 3 resets would be 160 years (+ around 40 more if you stop resetting and die at the average age of death in western countries)

Personally that sounds like torture. Sure groundhog day was fun the first few times but 160 years? No thanks.

lud,

It makes sense that they do that since the media and randoms on the internet think everything chatGPT and Bing chat say is as valid as info from OpenAI and MS official spokespersons.

lud,

You could probably only find CAMS for in theater movies anyways.

And a CAM is arguably worse than nothing

lud,

Probably very low due to the DRM. Cinema leaks are extremely rare since they are encrypted and all that.

Me vs my ISP

So I was looking into getting port forwarding set up and I realized just how closed-off the internet has gotten since the early days. It’s concerning. It used to be you would buy your own router and connect it to the internet, and that router would control port-forwarding and what-have-you....

lud,

Why use your ISPs router then? Just buy your own.

And a webserver is probably the safest thing to put online.

You can also put the server in a DMZ and or use reverse proxy’s and a bunch of other stuff.

lud,

encryption will be cracked

We don’t know that yet.

lud,

2 alternatives could be to follow an RSS feeds for trailers or turn on notifications for a movie trailer or review YouTube channel.

lud,

Or yourself! You are the worst offender at stealing your own personalities!

lud,

I came because they removed third party apps.

I still use old.reddit.com because the content is still better than on here.

The memes here are pretty terrible. Many of the communities that i follow haven’t migrated. There simply isn’t enough content and a sizable portion of the content that exists is very annoying compared to on Reddit.

Still, I probably use Lemmy more than Reddit due to the apps.

I occasionally use reddit in the browser on mobile but the experience is terrible so I pretty much only check out r/sysadmin (yes I know that there is a similar sub on here, but it’s very small)

I personally don’t really have much against Reddit except the apps issue. They have done a lot of stupid stuff, but meh.

Or no compass at all.

Compasses are useless in daily life unless you are orienteering every day or are on a boat or something.

But if we have to find workarounds, you can just use your preferred map app which almost always has a compass integrated.

lud,

According to previous comments they seem to live in Ecuador.

Xbox Game Bar for Linux? (scontent-yyz1-1.xx.fbcdn.net)

I was a windows user back in 2019 - 2020, and moved over to Linux in 2021. I honestly forgot how i found Linux, and when I was using Windows, I remember using this feature “Game Bar”, which I used to make game clips on my PC. Although, when I got my NVIDIA Card the Game Bar Stopped working because of the HDMI cord that...

lud,

They probably just took the first good image from an image search and that image happen to come from facebook.

lud,

Actually tough jeans that need to be broken in and last a while

Doesn’t that have to do with the fact that modern jeans have some stretchy materials added in which makes them more comfortable?

Surely one could buy old type jeans if one really wanted too.

lud,

That’s not really that odd though, since laptops are gigantic compared to phones.

But I guess, iPads should also include them.

lud,

Go to another instance then. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

lud,

Yes, the subscription would only apply to Windows IOT.

Win IOT is for embedded systems, so pretty much only corporate customers would be affected.

lud, (edited )

I also find those constant Linux comments annoying but one should really avoid using Windows 7. Win 7 has been out of support for a long time, either update to Win 10 (if possible), air gap it, install some other OS like Linux, or consider replacing the computer.

lud,

I highly recommend his other videos.

Especially the longer ones like “POLYBIUS - The Video Game That Doesn’t Exist”, “Nuclear Fruit: How the Cold War Shaped Video Games”, and “The First Video Game”. His iconic arms series is also, well, iconic.

He is amazing at graphics.

lud,

This is probably my favorite tracker track: Strobe(.it)

lud,

Anti-woke is bullshit but anti-anti-woke is also bullshit.

Here is their justification:

In order to maintain security for our users, the Authy application does not allow importing or exporting 2FA account tokens.

Users who want to import or export their tokens can follow this process:

  1. Login to the desired online account with your existing 2FA token.
  1. Disable 2FA in the app’s site.
  2. Re-enable 2FA again in the app’s site.
  3. Scan the QR code, optionally write the Authentication Key, this time on the desired 2FA App.

It's funny how google pretends the music on YouTube isn't straight up piracy and everyone just goes along with it

Most people have extremely weird ideas of what’s considered piracy and what isn’t. Downloading a video game rom is piracy, but if you pay money to some Chinese retailer for an SD card containing the roms, that’s somehow not piracy. Exploiting the free trial on a streaming site by using prepaid visa cards is somehow not...

lud,

If I recall correctly, the copyright holders can decide what they want to happen automatically.

The automatic options are something like:

  • Disable all ads.
  • Enable ads (if disabled) and take all (?) money.
  • Mute/remove the infringing content.

They can also do stuff like issue copyright strikes but I believe that those have to be done manually since they can be so destructive to creators.

Tom Scott made a really good video about how copyright works in general and how it works on YouTube, I highly recommend it. youtu.be/1Jwo5qc78QU
