pearsaltchocolatebar,

Just look at the GOP. They repeat garbage until their pawns believe it.

pearsaltchocolatebar,

Would this technically be anti-capitalistic? They’re refusing to charge what the market will bear.

pearsaltchocolatebar,

I don’t really care about airlines, but AA is the only airliner that flies out of the local regional airport (only flies to a bigger airport a few hours away), and I’ve never had any issues with them.

The worst I’ve had was having to listen to a flight attendent talk about God because I was on the last row.

Wow, Sounds like you really need to work on your time management skills.

pearsaltchocolatebar,

Unfortunately, many jobs that do this are salaried exempt.

Now, whether they are miss categorized is a different story. That’s why my wife’s old workplace is going to get some attention from the IRS and DOL when she finishes her month’s notice.

pearsaltchocolatebar,

You’re more than welcome to downvote and move on.

pearsaltchocolatebar, (edited )

Well, it’s hard not to beat zero effort.

pearsaltchocolatebar,

Did you not read the letter you posted? It said a call with the IoT department.

pearsaltchocolatebar,

I misread the comment, for sure. I thought they were talking about the call the letter referenced.

pearsaltchocolatebar,

Because you run the risk of corrupting files.

pearsaltchocolatebar,

You can make a thermostat with a raspberry pi, a few sensors, and a relay board. They’re pretty simple devices.

Really, you don’t even need a pi. An ESP8266 would be more than sufficient.

Source: I made my own thermostat from an esp8266, some sensors, and a relay board.

pearsaltchocolatebar,

I have a diy thermostat project (really a multi-zone hvac setup) that I might pick back up given what’s going on.

It kinda fell by the way side after my 3D printer started having issues.

pearsaltchocolatebar,

The problem with a product like that is that there’s nothing stopping them from locking down their API to only work with their app.

pearsaltchocolatebar,

That ended up being a router error. It was actually something like 1mb.

pearsaltchocolatebar,

Not too bad. We had a tiny bit of snow and some ice, but didn’t lose power which was nice since we have reptiles and I was not looking forward to trying to keep them alive.

I also got to stress test my Freeze Meisters (exterior faucet attachment that drips water), and thankfully they worked.

pearsaltchocolatebar,

Yes, and yes. Some people treat texts like instant messaging.

pearsaltchocolatebar,

Really? 'Cause you never think of those other two as having their shit together.

pearsaltchocolatebar,

Same, but I keep upgrading my gaming rig and buying games on sale.

I guess tens of millions of people count as nobody.

Unless they don’t mean American football. That Jacks the number up to probably over 1b

pearsaltchocolatebar,

That’s because actual hacking is actually pretty boring, from an external viewpoint at least.

pearsaltchocolatebar,

I mean, it’s 98.6F on average. If it’s freezing that quickly then you’re looking at some extreme temperatures.

pearsaltchocolatebar,

Standing on the bumper might be enough, especially if it’s the first piss of the day.

pearsaltchocolatebar,

They’re just children who expect everything to be hand fed to them by the government and have no sense of nuance. They look at the utopia that communism promises without realizing that humans are selfish and greedy animals, so it’ll never work.

These people are a good example of why echo chambers are a bad thing. They don’t stop to think about why their beliefs might be wrong.
