I’m from the other side, though. I’m a developer and systems administrator on Kubuntu and I live by the command line. I use yakuake, which is totally awesome, and have about 50 or so shells open pretty much permanently, all nicely tucked away in tabs and sub sections in a programmable drop down that automatically starts all those command line shells when my computer boots. It’s pure awesomeness, Linus os pure awesomeness!
photo enforcement sucks and doesn’t really work and is just used as tax revenue for cities
meanwhile speeding continues as normal with all the casualties that come with it
Cities, however, do need this revenue to not go bankrupt because they’re all designed wrong and can barely get any tax revenued while still affording details like infrastructure maintenance
Cities should redesign their rod infrastructure instead. Where you still need car roads, design the roads for the speed you want. If you put a highway in front of a school, people will drive a 100 miles per hour because that is what the road was dest for.
Cities should start changing laws to push for livable designs focused on humans beings instead of cars everywhere. You’ll need less cars, have less accidents, get more tax revenue from more local businesses
Timothée Besset, a software engineer who works on the Steam client for Valve, took to Mastodon this week to reveal: “Valve is seeing an increasing number of bug reports for issues caused by Canonical’s repackaging of the Steam client through snap”....
Meanwhile the KDE settings panel has been designed and redesigned like 20 times in the past 20 years. Much better, but also… Dude, please focus more on stability and less on “let’s redo this from scratch again!”
That leaves for an interesting question: why is most writing these days so god awful? There are great writers out there. Hollywood isn’t stupid (is it?) and wants money. Why do they put shit writers on so many projects that then flop like the shit that it is?
In all honesty, most people that hate current trek don’t hate it because it’s too woke, they hate it because it’s just generic trash. Classic trek didn’t care much about big space battles, loads of pew pew and great action shots. Classic trek cared about great stories. The ships were places where people actually worked and lived together.
Current trek (anything after enterprise) has horrible story lines, horrible dialogue, is mostly about dump action pew pew and CGI, ignores 50 years of history, is all about fuck this, fuck that and fucking fuck you and honestly: it isn’t woke: it’s only virtue signalling.
Classic trek was woke by making great stories about real issues in society. New trek is just a sad shadow of what it used to be.
I was never bothered by new trek being too woke because it isn’t.
To quote a really shitty show: sheer fucking hubris.
This would be so much fun to watch. They wouldn’t be able to take the US army with them, US army bases would be dismantled, nukes would be removed, Mexico would be like “fuck no” and have no trade with them, and the US, being their former Union, would also give them the finger. Thousands, plug not millions of people would cross borders there to either leave or join the shit hole (because fuck the liberal US government!) causing a huge outflux of knowledge and competence and a huge influx of rednecks.
Let me be clear though: this will never happen, because the politicians calling for this know damn well that they’d be fucked. They’re just riling their base with dumb but popular rhetoric.
That was me about 22 years ago already. I’ve had a Linux desktop for 22 years and anytime I see a windows desktop I’m just wondering why anyone would accept such trash…
This is what Republicans love, hence all the rheeeeeeing about it.
Transgenders in bathrooms? OMG OMG, RIOT! Forget that we’re robbing you blind, making everyone poor and ruining the Country, focus on the next tiny insignificant issue that no one really cares about!
Even the illegal immigration thing is nothing but a diversion. There are issues die to immigration in the US being handled horrible, but that is by design, they want something to point at.
