runner_g,

Seems like a niche initiative to use right wing, working class idols to promote socialist ideals. My guess is the intent is the target market is more likely to read the meme and view it in a positive manner when paired with someone they respect instead of, say, Einstein or MLK Jr.

Israel out here breeding the next generation of Hamas recruits.

runner_g,

If you are in the US, gift cards are required to be valid for at least 5 years (federal rule) and many states have longer rules. Also some states require unspent money to be paid back to the card holder as cash. There was a thread a couple of days ago on Lemmy all about gift cards and relevant consumer protections.

runner_g,

Beef/chicken/vegi stock, totally. I have to drive 65 miles to the closest store that sells pork stock, but I can get pork bones from my local butcher, so it’s absolutely worth it to make my own pork stock for home made hot and sour soup.

runner_g,

Baklava is my answer here. That shit is so good but i don’t have the patience to make it at home.

runner_g,

There was a Chinese restaurant in town when I was growing up that used pork stock and I’ve never had hot and sour soup as good as his. Sadly he retired in 2015 and shut down the restaurant.

runner_g,

That’s how I’ve been consuming the marvel TV shows, it’s so much nicer to be able to binge the series.

runner_g,

Living in Colorado, I absolutely have one of these for my special boy.

I chime in with a “haven’t you people ever heard of… DDMMMYYY?”

runner_g,

The 3k publication fee per article. Plus selling print copies to tenured profs.

runner_g, (edited )

Yeah it’s nuts. However there are a huge number of open-access journals, and they are becoming more common. BMC/PLOS are the big ones in my field (biology/genetics).

PLOS still charges a fee if your institution is not part of their “network”, and it’s not cheap, but their articles are free for all to access.
