RampantParanoia2365, (edited ) to risa in I love DS9

Took me a moment to realize you didn’t mean Nana Visitor.

It’s like a TARDIS inside, you can pack in a ton of losers

So many losers, it’ll collapse into a loser black hole

LongbottomLeaf, to risa in I heard we were posting pictures of Mudd now.

Aloysius Devadander Abercrombie?

That’s long for Mudd… Or so I’m told.

MataVatnik, to risa in Harry Mudd does not represent the best of humanity
@MataVatnik@lemmy.world avatar

I’ve been begging for sex robots for years now. I’ve been to conferences where scientists were able to film protein conformations using cryoEM, and I saw another scientist genetically modify E Coli to produce a rare natural product in abundant quantities. So where the fuck are my sex robots?

CalamityJoe, to risa in Totally not listening to it right now....

I definitely had the Enterprise/Faith of the Heart intro as the most discordant and off-putting combination I’ve been subjected too…

Until I started trying to watch Britannia. You’d be watching ancient Roman soldiers talking or swording it out with Celtic Britons and scarified druids against backdrops of mud daubed huts, thick untouched forests, primitive villages etc, and suddenly…you’d be hearing this upbeat folksy 1960s Beatles-like The Hurdy Gurdy Man.

And then you’d go straight back to the ancient Roman soldiers, druids, swords and Celtic style clothing and background.

This is a good example of that discordant transition youtube.com/watch?v=GNG9EU8eZj0

shiveyarbles, to risa in Just a couple of smugglers carpooling on their way to work.

Yes I love this scene, and also the controversy over who shot first… Harry Mudd or cy snoodles

If I learned anything from Mads Mikkelsen:

  1. Come clean on debts w/ Rihanna
  2. The answer to all life’s problems seem clearer through a layer of aspic

I think they had it off to the side, no?

interolivary, to risa in Twaining, you say? That just brings us full circle.
@interolivary@beehaw.org avatar

This is hilarious, but… is it just me or is Rom’s face a bit of a nightmare fuel scenario? 😅

The_Picard_Maneuver,
@The_Picard_Maneuver@startrek.website avatar

Ferengi faces would be terrifying if it wasn’t for their personalities. And put on a human body? Shivers.

interolivary,
@interolivary@beehaw.org avatar

Yeah the term “shrieking heebie jeebies” springs to mind.

Good point about the personality though, somehow the hyperlibertarian scammer thing they have going on makes them feel less threatening, although I guess that should probably make them even more horrifying?

The_Picard_Maneuver,
@The_Picard_Maneuver@startrek.website avatar

Lol, absolutely.

I think the story is that they intended the Ferengi to be more intimidating in TNG, but they just weren’t, so they moved on.

tigeruppercut, (edited ) to risa in Twaining, you say? That just brings us full circle.

I love how contentious Twaining is on the Greatest Trek podcast

Krauerking, to comicstrips in Twinkle twinkle little douche [Extra Fabulous]
