The ships computer, Eddie, becomes unable to accept new processing requests because it is running at full capacity after being told to make “Tea, with Data’s breast milk” by William Riker.

Why are you not including the whole comic?

Stamets,
@Stamets@startrek.website avatar

Because I genuinely didn’t know there was more to the comic. Holy shit. I’ve only ever seen the top half.

Fixing the post now. My apologies.

No worries mate.

Oh God I try super hard not to do this at work with phrases like “it’s my understanding that” and “it appears that”. It’s such a cop out on something that I’m supposed to be authoritative about. It’s really tempting though.

charonn0, to risa in Based Lucille Ball
@charonn0@startrek.website avatar

For the unfamiliar: As the head of Desilu Productions, she was the one responsible for giving TOS a second pilot.

Stamets,
@Stamets@startrek.website avatar

Vigorously defended by Solow, and despite the fact that Star Trek series was already ordered by NBC, after the second pilot episode, “Where No Man Has Gone Before”, had been produced, virtually the entire Desilu Board of Directors voted to cancel Star Trek in February 1966 nevertheless, board member Bernard Weitzman being the sole exception. Yet, as Chairwoman of the Board, Lucille Ball had the power to override her board, and this she did with a mere nod of her head towards Solow. “That was all Star Trek needed,” as author Marc Cushman had succinctly put it, “A nod of Lucille Ball.” One of the nay-sayers on the board, studio accountant Edwin “Ed” Holly, later conceded, “If it were not for Lucy, there would be no ‘Star Trek’ today.”

They should name entire systems and fleets of ships to her name in the Trek universe

Not only that, unless my memory fails me, it was Lucy who basically funded both pilots with little to no external financial assistance.

I’ve always seen it that way too. It’s a surprisingly festive design for the Klingons*.

lolcatnip,

It’s a Klingon ship.

Just use 24h like an adult, bro.

GhostMatter,

A decade and a half ago, I couldn’t even find a 24h alarm clock in Québec, Canada. I had to order one online. Even though I’d been using 24h time all my life. Thank you, anglophone neighbours.
