Similarly, “presently” originally meant “soon”, but now people use it to mean “at this time”. Like “I will be leaving presently” could mean two different things depending on who’s saying it
Some say he is held against his will in The European Organization for Nuclear Research in Switzerland, commonly known as CERN. Apparently, his sacrifice made a a giant leap in the field of Condensed Dark Matter.
Human Right activists are fighting for his immediate release, both from the imprisonment and for his bowels.
Memes are of interest NOW? To each their own but it’s the internet, gonna be tough not to see a meme.
But I agree with some of the other commenters. Customize your experience to suit your needs by carefully subscribing to only the communities you wish to engage with, then in your settings, choose to show only what you’ve subscribed to.
If I want an article to be read by others, I give an upvote. I’ll downvote if I don’t want it. It has nothing to do with my side of the idea or the event. For example, a rape news was shared. My upvoting does not mean that I support the incident, it just means that it will come to the fore so others can see it.
Yep. I’ll up vote news of a hate crime or something, but downvote things that are directly hateful.
Context always matters and a lot of the big sites fail to understand the difference between talking about things like racism, sexism, homophobia, and transphobia and somone being those things.
Mumford and Sons. Their first few albums were unique, and a nice change from everything else. Then they turned around and shit on everyone that liked their music before turning into Coldplay
Their first few albums were already just generic folk pop but if they were your first generic folk pop band I can see it being a pretty novel sound. And I’ll agree that their earlier stuff was better than their later stuff, but it still wasn’t very good or very original
You know something about them that fucks with me? They’re British, not American. It’s not that I care that much, but considering the image of the band is based in American country makes it feel odd lol.
“It’s not the first thought that comes to mind that matters, what’s important is what you after that”
This was in the context of racism. I was raised in an racist environment, and I was struggling with the awful thoughts that had been indoctrinated in to me bubbling up when I encountered folk that were the target of that racism.
That quote helped me not be hung up on guilt and self flagellation, and instead to focus on being the person I want to be, rather than the person I was taught to be.
My mum wasn’t racist. She’s the one who helped me see that racism isn’t just the way things are. But everyone else in my family, in my town, in the media… It was everywhere…
Fully recommend the psychedelics BUT it’s not for everyone.
Practice mindfulness through meditation.
Psychedelics do what that does but does so through explosive force, lol.
Mindfulness is so fundamentally critical to feeling alive again. That breeze still exists. The sound of the cicadas buzzing away is still there. The scent of rain still permeates.
Meditation isn’t going “ohmmmmm🧘”. It’s a practice of clearing your mind, and living through your senses. Discerning your existence through means other than thought.
When you were a kid, you didn’t have the capacity to only think like you do now. You were jumping between thought and raw sensory analysis. You were both free and grounded through your senses.
It’s about finding a balance that as a kid you couldn’t obtain, and that as an adult you have forsaken.
Good luck friend. Just know that you can get back to that.
Edit: I’d like to add that you practice until it’s second nature, and you become much more aware as a result. You won’t need to stop to smell those roses - they will grab your attention.
Oh, yeah, I googled, sorry, not a native English speaker. Yeah, we call it differently, but most definitely yes. I don’t even wear jeans cloth at all, I almost exclusevly wear baggy pants from twill… or linen ones in the summer.
I had a pair of relaxed fit jeans that also had polyester in the material. They were the best jeans I’ve ever owned. I got skinnier and under grew them, which was sad. The stretch on them only comes into play when sitting/squatting and it was well received. That said, I wear baggy, oversized sweatpants 90% of the time I’m not in jeans. Comfort > style
The environment I work in doesn’t require polished attire. I now switch between two pairs of jeans as needed. If they appear clean and don’t stink, I’ll roll with them. I’m not customer facing and I don’t need to impress anyone. Really I have one pair that are comfy, and another pair for wash day.
Also, washed jeans take a minute to break back in, and id rather not. I don’t even have to re loop my belt each day, it’s just there for me to click and go.
