wizzor, in I'm being harassed by mosquitoes, how do i kill them all?

Here is what we have done

  • A three piece mosquito net AND a cloth hanging at the door. The combination of two barriers is very effective
  • Stainless steel mosquito netting in a removable frame on all windows (no maintenance abd easy to remove)
  • Same net for all ventilation holes
  • A mosquito magnet CO2 attractor outside
  • A UV bug zapper inside (I don’t like them outside, as they will mostly kill butterflies and other non-annoying insects)
Boolean, in What exercises can I do to strengthen my willpower?

Dr K at Healthy Gamer has a tonne of really great advice for dealing with this and especially for ADHD sufferers. He talks about urge-surfing and how to develop and strengthen the parts of your brain that end up giving you back control in terms of decision making, willpower and responding to habits. Here’s a short on urge-surfing but have a dig thru the rest of the channel youtube.com/shorts/SUgJdsTCs0E?feature=share

eckte, in What is the craziest thing that's ever happened in your life?

I’ve taking a shit and it was clean wipe. Good old times.

giant_smeeg,

Even better if it’s a ghost shit too. Straight round the u bend.

Wonder if I ever even shit

Ricaz,

This happened to me once. Definitely a big highlight of my pooping career.

frizzle, in What is the best anonymous image hosting site?

I was trying out PixelFed, which seems like the best solution so far. I was able to direct link to a file quite easily. (Slime)

The only thing I am worried about is that they might not approve of direct linking. I checked the Terms of Use page, I couldn’t find anything that said not to direct link. Do you think it is allowed? or should I look for a different service?

Chozo,

The issue I take with this is that PixelFed is meant to be a community. I feel like using their resources for image hosting, for a platform that PixelFed users may not ever even interact with, is a bad move.

frizzle,

Yeah, it feels like instagram. Each time I upload an image, I have to remember to turn off comments and select unlisted.

TrenchcoatFullofBats,

You can actually self-host Pixelfed pretty easily

Trebach,

That's because it's the Fediverse equivalent of Instagram.

Vidar, in What is the best anonymous image hosting site?

Been using this German site called Abload

Anonymous upload but needs an user account for deletion feature. Direct links are available and allowed.

frizzle,

Good find!

Wow, that is a classic looking site. It looks really close to what I am looking for.

Section 3-4 of the Terms of Use seems a little strict, but shouldn’t be a problem for me since I don’t upload memes and copyright content.

The 20 megabyte file limit is very generous!

Vidar,

That’s true, they’re strict but I guess that’s because of the German law they’re having to obey. They’ve been around for ages and I respect them for switching to donation based back in 2012 and being kept alive by the community ever since.

Kolanaki, in Does anyone else struggle with silence, particularly when trying to sleep?
@Kolanaki@yiffit.net avatar

The only time I ever would’ve preferred silence to some background noise was when I was at a scout camp along the banks of a river and the cacophony of frogs and crickets at night was super fucking loud. I barely slept the whole time I was there.

Other than that, I always put on some kind of ambient sounds or yoga music.

Tom_bishop, in What password manager do you recommend?

Used to love LastPass, then it charge expansive for pc and android multi device. I’m too looking for better pm.

snor10, in Does anyone else struggle with silence, particularly when trying to sleep?

I must have earplugs and an eyemask to sleep. Always wanted pitch black and complete silence since I was a child.

LachlanUnchained,

My wife is the same.

Cosmocrat, in What genres of music do Lemmites enjoy?

Retrowave // synthwave

stealth_cookies, in How do you enjoy listening to digital content? Speakers? Headphones? Earbuds?

Depends on where I am and what time it is.

At home during the day: Paradigm SE3 speakers

At home early or late: Focal Elear headphones

On the go: Etymotic ER3XR IEMs

I’m a real big fan of grunge. All my discovery feeds are based off nothing but 90’s grunge.

Munkisquisher, in Does anyone actually enjoy working out?

I do classes, 1hr of body combat to go hard and then it’s done. The music, instructors and feeding off the energy of the ppl around you make it enjoyable.

Lockenbert, (edited )

Classes are the best. Loud music, workout to the beat with other people there. I tried lifting, but was so bored between sets that i just went home halfway through a workout. Than i started Body pump, and there is no time to get bored.

Tom_bishop, in What's the point of buying new phones every years?

I follow my life rule of changing phone every 5 years. But my phone broke and become unusable after 4 years. Was xiaomi user for yrs, i bought s23 ultra now as xiaomi prices became expansive. Buy good phone mainly for the picture quality.

VioletteRei,
@VioletteRei@lemmy.world avatar

Also have a S23 Ultra because my old one died, the picture quality is incredible. I know i’ll keep this phone for at least 5 years too
