I’ve tried to err on the side of caution on that myself, because it’s pretty embarrassing to act like someone is trying to hit on you when they’re not, on either side. I’ve had people act like they think I’m flirting with them when I’m not also which is awkward.
That’s because human beings in western society are wierdly messed up over sex.
Though in my case I figured out the consistent common beats of flirting / courting in my late twenties and realized when I was sixteen my aunt was totally hitting on me.
So a combination of societal sexual hang ups, neurodivergence and family social dysfunctiob kept me celibate until 26.
My dental hygienist told me not to rinse. “You’re paying for the fluoride, why wash it away?” Makes sense. The dentist told me not to use mouthwash, because it upsets the mouth’s natural pH.
My biggest find lately is silicon toothpick thingies - interdental brushes. They get to crevices floss can’t reach.
Oh, it gives some physical shudders and looks terrifying to me :-). That felt pretty strong so I had thought that it might be a reaction most folk have.
Step one: instead of “Ass,” say “Buns” Like “Kiss my buns” or “You’re a buns hole” Step two: instead of “Shit,” say “Poo” As in “Bull-poo,” “Poo-head,” and “This poo is cold” Step three: with bitch, drop the ‘T’ 'Cause “Bich” is Latin for generosity! Step four: don’t say “Fuck” anymore 'Cause “Fuck” is the worst word that you can say So just use the word, “M’kay!”
Make a New Year’s Theme instead - CGP grey had a video on this. Then, when the first things you try related to the theme fail (or feel bad, or don’t make sense anymore), pick something else in the theme and try that instead.
Productivity themed year got me to:
Learn AutoHotkey
Setup a central collection of notes
Use a calendar app properly
Finish several (profession related) books
Track my internet time
and more! And, for maybe the first time, I finally feel like I did something with this whole resolution thing.
For me, actually put things in it, setup notifications for the day before (and on a device I actually see), add family, and check it before scheduling (some) things.
I kept mine by following this advice before I watched the video. The general idea was i wanted to have my week off in the holidays with my family and not be worried about the future, kinda evolved to a “how I view myself” theme would be the best way to describe it. Went hard at gym for 6 months before long term injury came up again, so focused on work and uni instead. Dropped one uni paper but got a- in the other, and turned my company around from 20% monthly loss to 10% profit.
Ha, I was going to say jerboa is my favorite so far.
I’m having a different experience, haven’t had any bugs and the updates seem to add features/stability without introducing any bugs on my device, I’m also on Android.
What kind of things are making it unusable for you?
I’m considering switching too. When my instance updated to .19 or whatever Jerboa would crash if I tried to log in. It sorted itself out after a few days, but it was still a bummer that I couldn’t upvote or save anything for three days.
It also randomly crashes on some posts. I’ve never been able to see a pattern because I am just instantly back at my phone’s home screen. Once every two or three days there is a post that throws it off.
It also doesn’t seem to handle network issues well. If my Internet goes out or my wifi is acting up my screen gets flooded with json errors.
Nothing major, but enough to make me interested in alternatives.
This song I downloaded from a file sharing application in the early 2000s. I’ve been searching for the artist for about two decades, nothing (the forum posts that come up when you search for it are also me).
It sounds like Christian music to me. Idk if that’s true but growing up in that religion I get that vibe from the song. Might be worthwhile to try to find some small time bands from around the years you initially found it. Good luck on your search.
It was originally labeled as Jars of Clay, and it certainly fits the genre, but the lead singer isn’t the same. There were a ton of smaller bands from those years with pretty much the exact same sound, I never managed to find a match.
At this point, I’m guessing it was an unreleased demo or something. In which case, unless the original artist finds it, I doubt we’ll ever know.
It does have ads, but with a one time purchase you can get rid of them. I’ve paid that and then I also plan on getting the subscription in the future for additional features.
The price is definitely a bit on the higher side, but I’m happy to support the development of the app I left Reddit for.
If you are able to, please support the apps and Lemmy instances you use.
Sync is the reason I’m here. For me, Sync was Reddit, and now, Sync is Lemmy.
Much like with Reddit years ago, with great apps like BaconReader and RIF, Lemmy is benefiting from having a huge choice of apps. Definitely try them all, and support the ones you like.
