GTA IV Pakistan edition

Basically, just a GTA4 pirate rip and modded and sold on actual disks.

There are several, and they are hard to find online because any uploads of it probably don’t exist anywhere anymore, and were already rare due to aforementioned disks.

Some of them are so regional and probably made by one person, the only way to find one is to get a computer HDD with it installed.

Daxtron2,

What differences does it have from the original?

mlg,
@mlg@lemmy.world avatar

Pakistani flags everywhere, reskinned character and NPCs, Pakistani songs, story characters replaced by famous IRL people, including some known mafia lol. Some original missions and reduxed interactions and updated story. Also lots of military additions.

Some were also themed after a specific city like Karachi or Lahore.

I’m sure Pakistan wasn’t the only country since I’ve heard there were hilarious and great modded bootlegs in other countries as well.

stackPeek,
@stackPeek@lemmy.world avatar

Funny, there is also a mod for GTA SA like this except it’s for my country haha

stackPeek, (edited ) in What is an obscure piece of media or videogame that you think nobody else here has heard of?

A-Train DS, or A列車で行こう DS, a Japanese game about managing trains. Basically like Transport Tycoon/OpenTTD, but focuses on Japanese train. It was actually really good, it actually made me obsessed with Japanese trains. Coolest thing about this game is, you can actually “ride” the train you built. It was like a dream come true for childhood me.

Yet, I rarely heard anyone online talks about this game. I really recommend others to play this game… If you can read Japanese as I am not sure that there is English translation for this game…

MiDaBa,

This was released on the original PlayStation and definitely available in English. I remember it being a very cool game.

stackPeek,
@stackPeek@lemmy.world avatar

I know right? There is also the sequel on 3DS and now it’s also on Switch.

There’s also a PC version too

flooppoolf, in If you could only listen to someone talk about one topic for the rest of your life, what would it be, and why?

Medicine

otter,

Any particular areas of medicine?

Also I haven’t been promoting the communities well enough but we’ve got some on Lemmy that could use more activity. I was planning to get them going more in the new year

!medicine for r/medicine

!medicine for the hub to other stuff

  • !health isn’t listed there yet but will be soon
flooppoolf,

Right now I’m a big nerd for infectious disease but tbh that changes every other three months. :)

itchick2014, in What are your best air fryer/oven recipes?

Reheating fried food in the air fryer changed how I view leftovers. Also, love roasted veggies or air fryer whole chicken. I use my air fryer a lot more than I thought I would.

LaunchesKayaks,
@LaunchesKayaks@lemmy.world avatar

How do you usually make your chickens? Like spices and stuff. Idk how to cook a chicken lol

itchick2014,

therecipecritic.com/air-fryer-whole-chicken/ is the last recipe I used. I recommend it!

Rhynoplaz, in Lottery winner

$500 Million? How long can you rent a Supreme Court Justice for that much? That might be your best chance at positive change.

Now, if we’re looking for Quantity of change over quality of change, you could actually cause the MOST CHANGE by putting that money towards a drone strike on the Capital while Congress is in session.

Just hypothetical answers to a hypothetical question. I’m not advocating anything. No need to put me on any more lists.

ivanafterall,
@ivanafterall@kbin.social avatar

Before we get violent, can we at least try LSD in the Congressional water supply to see if that does it in a positive way? ALSO TOTALLY THEORETICAL, FUN CHRISTMAS TALK!

Rhynoplaz,

Definitely this one first, but if it doesn’t work out, mine can be a back up.

Infynis, (edited ) in What's your automatic vacuum's name?

We call ours Chumley, after the robot vacuum from Better Off Ted. My parents call theirs Rosie after the maid robot from the Jetsons

Rosie is what I wanted to name ours but I was overridden by our kid.

athos77, in What are your best flight tips and tricks?

Wear a good-fitting N95 mask from before you enter your departure airport until after you leave your destination airport. Covid sucks, flu sucks, rsv sucks - just wear a mask, ffs. And get vaccinated.

Potatos_are_not_friends,

Especially in America where vaccination was a political thing. There’s still a huge chunk of Americans who get covid.

freeindv,

There’s still a huge chunk of Americans who get covid.

Yeah and most of them got the shots

freeindv,

Lol down votes don’t change the fact that everyone who got those shots still got covid

SatanicNotMessianic, in When you go home for the holidays, do you ever stop feeling like a kid?

Sure. The first time your racist uncle drops an n-bomb or comes out with some LGBT-phobic statement and everyone just goes along with it, you can check your watch, say something about having another engagement, and walk out the door to go home.

LinkOpensChest_wav,

For me it’s my brother, but he was the same as a kid too, so I guess it does bring me back, but not in a good way.

itsnicodegallo, in If You Had to Worship or be the Champion of an Ancient Greek God/Goddess Which One Would You Pick?

Helios. The personification of the Sun. One of the few Titans the Gods didn’t even bother trying to wrest power from, and he’s also the guardian of oaths and sight. He was so powerful that driving his chariot wrong could destroy the earth by freezing or burning it simply by driving too closely to or too far away from the ground.

A loving father too. In the most prominent myth that features Helios, his son Phaëthon (the umlaut just means to pronounce the E) made a pilgrimage all the way East to confirm that Helios was actually his father. Phaëthon was extremely brave, but also boastful, to the point that somebody finally said something along the lines of, “Oh, whatever! I bet the sun god isn’t even your real father.” Cause he was a mortal, even if your mother and sisters are nymphs, hearing that your dad was the fucking sun is still a bit of a stretch enough for Phaëthon to have some doubt.

Helios confirmed Phaëthon’s parentage, and to dispel any leftover doubt, made an oath to his son that he would grant him a favor as long as it was within his power. Unfortunately, Eos the dawn had just pulled up with Helios’ glorious, gold and silver chariot pulled by 4 flaming horses so dude could make his daily run. At that moment, Phaëthon decided on the favor. his son asked to drive his father’s chariot. Helios, being the god of oaths, begged his son to reconsider but ultimately had to keep the oath he swore.

Being a mortal who also had no idea how to drive the chariot of the sun, Phaëthon lost control. At some points, he went so high he was almost stung by the constellation Scorpio, and those places became irreversibly frozen into tundras. At some points, the chariot drew so close to the earth that some places turned into deserts. Zeus saw what was happening, and to protect the rest of the world, shot Phaëthon down with a lightning bolt.

Phaëthon’s body fell into the river Eridanos, and his sisters who went to find his body mourned so intensely that either as a mercy killing from the gods or because magical biology just kinda works this way in Greek mythology, they turned into poplar trees and their tears became amber.

BigBrainBrett2517,

👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Great read. I’ll have a link to more stories/legends like this please. Or a book recommendation?

TomAwsm,

I can wholeheartedly recommend Stephen Fry’s books on Greek Mythology (Mythos, Heroes and Troy).

BigBrainBrett2517,

Party time, Excellent! Reurreurreurreur! Definitely going to get that book. Thank you.

itsnicodegallo, (edited )

I wish I had a link, but I just wrote that on the fly when the coffee kicked in. It’s one of my favorite Greek myths, so I know it off the top of my head.

A really good book if you could get through all that would be Edith Hamilton’s Mythology. It’s a huge compilation of myths, primarily Greek with the tail end being Norse, and it’s a staple! Any library is bound to have it, but it’s well worth owning.

Just did a quick Google search, and a website called thriftbooks.com has it for as cheap as $3.59!!

EDIT: Also, thank you.

Grayox,
@Grayox@lemmy.ml avatar

Off the top of your head, the way the information had been passed down for hundreds of years, love to see it!

BigBrainBrett2517,

That is super brill! I’ll be purchasing that for sure. Less than $4 is ridiculous - but I love in Aus so I’ll probably have to spend more than $20 for a really good book 😩😂 Also: Thank you!

makeshiftreaper, in What's a food you love, that isn't worth making from scratch?

Halal Chicken and Lamb over rice. I’ve made my own at home before and after all the effort that goes into making the sauces, the meats, the rice, and veggies, I somehow end up with a dish that cost at least twice what street carts sell, at 5 times the length to make it and isn’t as good. I wouldn’t make it at home unless I lived somewhere where that was the only way I could get it

RBWells,

Even more so, bo kho.

I just want to express my appreciation for this phrase.

I also do agree that homemade broth is worth making, but it is more a byproduct of having made something else for me. And it’s not difficult just takes a long time. Chuck everything in the slow cooker overnight, in the morning there is stock. Then from the bones of that stock you can make the bone broth, again overnight will work.

Dangdoggo, in So, who or what ruined Christmas this year?
@Dangdoggo@kbin.social avatar

I have enough self awareness these days to know that it's usually me, and also enough to know that I didn't this year. Getting better!

Agrivar,

Same here, friendo, same here! Happy holidays!

sab,
@sab@kbin.social avatar

That's fucking great! Keep it up!

RedditRefugeeTom, in So, who or what ruined Christmas this year?

My Wife’s Father. I don’t care for him even if he has changed following a letter she wrote to him saying she’d be out of his life if he didn’t. In the past he beat her Mom and put my Wife through constant guilt trips. He honestly has changed a lot since the letter and he does very well with his grand daughter, but I just wanted to be home with my wife and daughter after working 70 hours out of state on a retrofit job. My Wife’s mother and step father will be visiting new years weekend. I just want it to be my family, but my Wife needs the help watching our daughter while I’m gone for work, so I just put up with it like any decent human would.

sab,
@sab@kbin.social avatar

It's like a trope. Old men who used to be really shitty fathers and now desperately try to cling on to the image of themselves as the heads of the family even though they will never truly be forgiven for who they used to be, and everyone are kind of afraid that they still are.

It's sad, it's painful, and it's fucking impossible to deal with in a good way.

assembly, in Lottery winner

Since there no other comments yet, I’ve always had the idea to pick anyone running across any race in the US under the democratic socialist party and donate the max amount to each of them individually. I think all the max values are under $2,500 per individual but so many races are in small towns and whatnot where that could go a long way. I mean folk like Bernie Sanders would also get the max value per individual but it will go further for the downstream races. I have zero background or knowledge in this area so maybe that is just super naive.

Rhynoplaz,

It could probably make a big difference in key areas.

You probably couldn’t effect enough small towns to turn Texas blue, but if you could saturate some rural PA counties and shift them slightly less red, it could lock down a swing state when it really counts.
