Yup, the radicalized ones became radicalized through the Internet - there is no specific place in the country that is “safe” because literally anywhere may house a zealous believer ready to get pushed over the line.
Like tens of thousands of little terrorist sleeper cells.
Because a lot of German humor is pun based and when the translated into English, the joke doesn’t land and so the English started this farce that the Germans ain’t funny
Germans are plenty funny, the English are the problem
The Germans? Jealous isn’t the right word, but I do enjoy it. I like the joke about the vampire on the Tandem bike.
The English? Ahahaha hell no, but the pathetic englishman is a funny character for sure. The English lost their knack for comedy some decades ago and many of the modern ones are kinda just relying on shock humor that isn’t really funny and kinda just makes em seem like bigoted geriatrics yearning for glory days when they were relevant.
Being german, I’ve already heard this joke a thousand times, but it’s so true that it makes me laugh every time. I think many germans are big on sarcasm, where arguably the main part of the joke is the complete seriousness of whoever makes the joke.
I got totally fed up with all the shit, content being spread everywhere and not knowing where to go to watch the things i wanted to watch, prices constantly going up all the time, quality dropping like a lead weight.
So switched to iptv. All the channels from uk, us, and a handful of other countries in europe including ppv sports etc. Also has a stack of disney, hulu, netflix and apple+ bundled in. 14usd a month. Installed on a firestick 4k max pro extreme limited edition. Has an epg, biggest pain is waiting for the epg to load the initial startup each day. Takes a couple of minutes. That being said, you can skip the epg if you want to skip straight to a channel.
Pirates ruled the 00’s until streaming services cracked down on axxo and the gang, then spent the next 15 years or so destroying media amd convenience. Piracy will have amother day again soon, i can feel it in my wooden leg
I use EPG dot best. They’re an EPG provider who give you lots of detailed information about each channel and show/movie and nice clean logos and everything.
You can filter large EPG files from your IPTV provider into much smaller ones that only include the channels you actually watch. The smaller EPG file means that the app uses less RAM on my Nvidia Shield too
It’s not free and it’s kinda finicky to set up, with a weird workflow, but it works well once that’s done
Actual aliens will land and just be like “y’all need to chill the fuck out.” And then quarantine the whole planet so we don’t fuck up the rest of the galaxy until we get our collective shit together.
I feel like if aliens rolled in it’d be violent somehow. Either some QAnon type schizoid takes shots at Intergalactic Franz Ferdinand and we get absolutely fucked in the war, or they land solely to tell us they’re taking over.
But maybe I’m just looking at Earth’s history of colonization of the various countries a bit too closely.
You might be joking but a lot of indications are pointing at this. There has been a lot of buzz in the UAP community for the past three or four years and even some members of Congress are now starting to ask questions.
A congressman was interviewed a couple of days back and he was talking about a debriefing that he got from two Air force pilots that were flying just off the coast of Florida. They recently upgraded their radar systems and they’ve been detecting a lot of anomalies and have encountered craft that are behaving in ways that as of now we don’t consider possible. He said with no quibble in the interview that the US or other foreign Nations have no equivalents of these crafts.
Now whether we’re talking aliens, extra dimensional beings or non-human intelligence is anyone’s guess but something is coming down the pipeline.
Yeah they shot down like 3 UFOs and a Chinese spy balloon. One of the UFOs was likely a hobby craft (the one in Alaska was likely a middle school science project). But the other two remain to be explained.
A year later and we’re back to just not talking about any of this, like usual.
They flew across the boundary between parallel universes, and if you can’t think of a reason to visit another civilization I hope you never get put in charge of planning the family vacation.
Now whether we’re talking aliens, extra dimensional beings or non-human intelligence is anyone’s guess but something is coming down the pipeline.
With how, just… Uncool everything turns out once it’s scientifically explained, that thing is probably nothing more than sasquatch. Instead of something that would change our very perceptions of reality, we just get a new species of primate that has somehow eluded capture for a long time.
None, I refuse to sign up for any subscription, unless it can be done through gift cards, so I know that I will only spend a static ammount of money when I can afford it.
Have you heard of Privacy? It’s an app that sets up virtual credit card numbers and you can specify how much or how many or how often that number can be charged. I mainly use it for “free” trials that want a credit card to bill if you don’t cancel after the trial period. I set a $1 limit so the company thinks it’s a real card when they do the small feeler charge. Saves me the hassle of remembering to cancel.
You can obviously use it for other purposes, like when you might be dealing with an iffy vendor.
It really depends on the job, I guess. I wore the Danner Reckonings for about 2 years straight and they were a little rough looking but still in great shape. The tip of the boot where the sole curves up the front was starting to peel. The worst I did with them was mountain climbing and some very wet environments.
Some of the dudes I worked with were sent to an area with a lot of lava rock, which absolutely shreds boots.
My opinion is they were garbage in the 80s/90s too. I would wear the soles down like an eraser in a matter of months. Warranty or not, that’s not bifl to me.
I have that problem with all kinds of shoes and trainers, regardless of the price tag. I bought a pair of Adidas Men’s Hoops 3.0 a few months back and to my surprise, the soles haven’t worn down on them yet.
But I feel like it’s only a matter of time until a hole starts developing in the soles, which means they’re gonna be waterlogged in any kind of wet weather.
That’s kind of the nature of the soles they use, but there’s not really such thing as a sole that won’t wear (and if there were, it probably wouldn’t be comfortable to walk on). Instead high quality boots are made to have the sole be easily replaceable using constructions like Goodyear welt, stitchdown, and Blake.
Doc Martens got sold and moved the production to Asia. The dip in quality is very noticeable.
The people who used to produce Doc Martens now work for the company called Solovair. I haven’t tried their stuff butt apparently they’re as good as Doc Martens used to be.
Having worn Doc Martens most of my life i’ve now switched to Solivair, last pair of ‘Docs’ i bought wore through the upper in 6 months and ripped my feet to shreds, the Solovair i replaced them with are still like new after a year and are the comfiest boots i’ve ever worn.
The only downside is explaining why you’re wearing ‘knock off Docs’ to hipsters, but i generally go with ‘They’re Doc Martens with all the Vietnamese Child Labour taken out (allegedly)’
i would loooove to get a pair of solovairs, but i can’t get over the slight silhouette change where the “ceiling” part of the boot (i know nothing about shoe anatomy terms) has a slight bend inwards as it reaches down and connects with the “floor” :(
I’m not sure what bit you mean, I have the classic 8 hole boots and the shape is the same from my perspective?
There are differences as i went Matte finish for the Solovairs and obviously the stiching is a different colour (smooth sided sole too) but i’m more concerned about the quality/fit/longevity of my boots than the Docs aethetic anyway.
Same thing happened with Blundtstone. Production moved from Tasmania to Vietnam. They swear everything is the same, but I’m looking at these two different pairs of boots …
You’re probably better off wearing something like Red Wing’s Iron Rangers, though there’s multiple brands that are pretty good. Meermin comes to mind for Europeans. Solovair if you’re really into the Dr Martens look.
/r/goodyearwelt used to be a good resource for shoe stuff, not really sure if there’s something comparable on Lemmy yet.
I’ve kept a pair of Docs around because I still think they make a great fashion staple, but having a pair that could actually be comfortable/good again would be amazing
Yes, they got rid of the lifetime warranty and I personally haven’t worn them, but people tell me their old ones work well and have a similar opinion as yours.
I pay for Apple Music which I use for 10+ hours a day, and YouTube premium through a family plan which I also heavily use. I refuse to pay for anything else beyond one music source and one video source.
The UI is what I dislike most, but Itàlia not awful. I’m guessing that lossless music has better quality? Deezer offered something similar and I didn’t get what was the pro. I don’t think my ear is trained enough to notice a difference (until I listen them both b2b, maybe then I will).
