If recent history is any indication (it’s not, but it’s fun to think about), the craziness won’t even start for a few weeks/months:
March 2014: MH370 disappeared. March 2015: Germanwings Flight 4U 9525 is intentionally crashed in the Alps. April 2016: The Panama Papers are leaked/published. February 2017: The Oscars’ presenters forget how to read. February 2018: Parkland, Florida school shooting. March 2019: The Boeing 737 Max is effectively banned from flights after a string of crashes. March 2020: Covid doesn’t start, but finally comes to a breaking point and restrictions are implemented across the US. March 2021: The container ship Ever Given ran aground in the Suez Canal. February 2022: Russia invades Ukraine. February 2023: US Air Force shot down a Chinese spy balloon.
The lack of snowpack in the US plus ocean temps that are already 6σ over historical averages are probably going to make for an “interesting” summer. As a result, I suspect crop failures are going to get a lot more coverage this year.
This is the real scenario, right here. Everyone is so focused on increased disaster occurrences that it feels like this is invisible - until its not. Last summer Alberta was under drought conditions, and overall crop yields were 67% of the 5-yr average.
Less and less snowpack means less and less water to deal with worse and worse drought conditions.
That’s something I never even thought of, but damn that’s accurate. Living in a big ol city, sometimes use public transit - yeah this is totally the case
For me, German humour is at its best when it's using subtitles in the German language - not really through puns, but by using language to highlight contradictions and absurdities. Obviously, this humour does not translate well at all.
After learning German and re-reading some Kafka stories I was struck by how stories I had read as somewhat somber in English were actually full of a weird sense of humour in the original German. It's still absurd and unsettling, but somehow Kafka is also funny.
As it says in descriptions. Go to reddit.com/subreddits, you will find “multireddit of your subscriptions” on top of right sidebar. Right click and copy it and paste to Voyager.
It is not automattic tho. You’ll need to manually subscribe communities.
JanSport backpacks. My wife had the zipper wear out on the backpack she has had for ~20 years. She contacted the manufacturer. They don’t make that particular bag anymore so they just sent her a comparable equivalent with almost no questions asked.
Yup they will just send you a new one. I’ve been using the same black jansport bag for > 5 years. As far as I can see the new ones they sent has the same quality as more than 5 years ago.
I love it. It’s my go to if I’m bored sitting on the couch. They’ve got a lot of great shows like Game Changer, Make Some Noise, and this new one called Very Important People. If you’re into D&D, there’s Dimension 20. I’m not a big fan of it, but it’s one of, if not the, most popular shows on there.
For those curious, it does appear that megatokyo may be getting updates but they’re infrequent, a few a month and not on a set schedule. There are like 9 chapters out now though.
AliExpress screwed me recently. A vendor sent me the wrong items. I mean, they weren’t even the same kind of items. I disputed it with the vendor and they said they’d sent the right things, so there.
I opened a case with AliExpress. They asked me for a whole lot of information, some of which didn’t make any sense, along with some pictures. I sent them everything. They sided with the vendor.
Fortunately, I had paid with PayPal. PayPal looked over the information from both sides and promptly refunded my money.
I don’t expect to be doing business with AliExpress again any time soon.
Ordering from AliExpress is a risk but factoring in the times you get screwed over it’s usually still worth it over buying 1.5 times the price to get it from Amazon (and possibly still get screwed by Amazon).
I have ordered so many things over the past 8 years on AliExpress and the only issues I had was shops not delivering the right amount. Disputing that was never an issue. I wonder why so many other people have serious issues with it.
You’re being down voted, but now you’ve got me legitimately curious…
Would anyone out there be able to explain what sort of additional features Sync has they makes it worth the price? I’ve been a Voyager (formerly weed) user practically since it was created and I think it’s a great experience.
Prime because it’s bundled with free shipping, I can’t remember the last time I opened up the app though.
I recently dropped Disney+ because I wasn’t watching enough to warrant the money. I’m burned out on Marvel and Star Wars.
A video platform for a very specific niche sport that is tough to find in the US. I keep the $5/month subscription year round, even out of season, because I actively want this group to succeed.
I pay $5 a year for dropout even though I don’t watch all of their content enough to probably warrant it some months. I tend to binge D20 and Um, actually mostly. But they’re a good company, making good content, and trying not to exploit anyone in the process. We need more of that and I’ve been lucky enough I can afford the $5 a month sub.
