vivavideri, in Lemmings without bidet: how do you deal with your period?

Well, firstly, you don’t need a lot of time between tampons, technically – so long as the absorption size isn’t too crazy and you’re changing them frequently enough. Secondly, fuck tampons, get a menstrual cup. For the uninitiated, it’s a silicone doohickey essentially shaped like a bell that fits around the cervix. Learning curve? Yes. Squick factor? Probably. tons of sizes. Safer than tampons (see Toxic Shock Syndrome).

Pays for itself in a few months if you have heavy flow.

Bidet would be a little less necessary but still, if heated, v nice.

If I’ve had a rough second day I’ll half-shower rinse, sure, but the merula xl is just about big enough to handle it otherwise.

I_Fart_Glitter,

I switch between those and Period Panties. Sometimes anything internal makes cramps worse, and honestly, I really dread rummaging around in there to drag it out while covering my hand in blood. It’s just not practical to empty/rinse at work and I do 16 hour shifts, so it’s not possible to just pop it in for the work day either. I use the cup when I’m not at work and it’s past the crampy days. Sometimes tampons + period panties are the only solution for me.

Ataraxia,

I tried the cup. I have several sizes. They just got stuck in there and never popped open and almost ended up going to the ER to have it removed.

vivavideri,

My condolences.

My super jenny isn’t firm at all and I don’t have trouble maneuvering it but the merula xl is very firm and that fucker hurts if it pops too soon ☠️

Replaceable battery, micro SD card slots are hard to come by these days, too.

bitwaba, in Mayo, mustard or ketchup?

Not Or. And.

Fries with a mustard mayo mix, or a mayo ketchup mix, or a ketchup mustard mix, or a mix of all 3, are all fantastic.

When I do burgers at home, I do a mustard mayo mix on the bottom bun (followed by lettuce and tomato slices), and a ketchup on the top bun.

All 3 three bring something to the table. It the variety and proportions that give you so much flexibility in creating amazing food.

fsr1967, in I am concerned about my cars extended warranty. I've tried to call a bunch of places but they all laugh and hang up. How can I get someone to call me about ny cars extended warranty?

Drive out into the desert and find a phone booth. Park next to it. The phone will ring. Pick it up. 50/50 shot it’s them or your student loan officer.

thrawn, in What if reddit joins race of services joing fediverse?

I think it’d be great to be able to see Reddit content if I wanted, and ignore it if not. I left because I’m a mobile user, not because I dislike Reddit content. It would also significantly lower the barrier of entry to Lemmy, so they’ll never do it.

jennwiththesea, in Mayo, mustard or ketchup?
@jennwiththesea@lemmy.world avatar

Mustard. It’s more versatile. Besides the obvious condiment uses, it’s also a useful ingredient in cooking, can alleviate muscle cramps (eaten), helps with bee or wasp stings (topical), and can be used as a dye.

captainlezbian, in How to respond to gf saying "I'm fat"

“I want you to be happy with your body, if you need me to reassure you about how attractive you are I can, or if you want me to support you with changing your weight I can. I love you and your body”

At least that’s basically where I go as a woman with a healthy weight but body image issues for not being underweight and a wife who gained a lot of weight over the pandemic and a girlfriend who is in the “needs to lose weight for her health” range.

What happened to the notification light?

My Orbic Myra 5G has one, and I got it for free.

blazeknave,

Late nineties ,early aughts… Did you used to mod Nokia bricks and early Motorola flip phones? (Razr iirc) Used to get blinking LEDs, replace the antennas with them, clear batteries that had flashing lights. Pretty much the OG RGB

lone_faerie,

They were replaced by “always on” OLED displays. When I turn my phone off, the screen still displays the time and notifications. The beauty of OLED is that each pixel is its own LED, so only a portion of the screen needs to be powered. Essentially, the whole display is the new notification light.

Is there any issue with burn-in?

lone_faerie,

None that I’ve noticed. The elements occasionally move around to help prevent burn-in

I miss tether points. We have these super expensive, slippery devices and we have to stick something like a pop socket onto them to be able to get a good grip on them. I used to have these little dangly thumb loops that if I dropped my phone, it would just dangle there instead of slamming into the ground. It’s very minor, but I don’t understand why they don’t have them anymore.

WetBeardHairs,

Oh damn I want one now. I’ve gone caseless since my last case disintegrated and I really prefer it this way now. But a tether would be a welcome addition.

SnipingNinja,

I am sure it’s because phone companies don’t want to deal with designing, manufacturing, design defects, warranty claims if it fails, etc.

I do wonder if it can’t be done better with programmable magnets, locking one of those in place from the bottom of the device might be interesting.

Natanael,

You you mean electropermanent magnets?

SnipingNinja,

Idk if that’s another name for them, but what I meant was polymagnets

Natanael,

Those use arrays of electropermanent magnets

SnipingNinja, (edited )

Aah cool, interesting

Edit: let me pick your brain regarding them as it seems you know more about them, is it feasible? What I described that is

Natanael,

A lot of cases have those still, plus industrial some phones have it built in

Donebrach,
@Donebrach@lemmy.world avatar

That just triggered a memory of my old dumb phone and its little dangly “hello kitty in samurai armor riding a tiger” charm. I don’t really care that current mobile devices don’t have those tie off points because as others have stated you can get cases that include them but thanks for reminding me of that old bauble.

burliman, in Should I wait for the "Snyder cut" (director's cut) of Rebel Moon?

I don’t think another cut will help things.

spirinolas, in What has been the best thing that has happened to you so far?

Had both my lungs collapsed. Forced me to quit pot which made my life take a 180 degree turn.

victorz,

Ah man, happy to hear that for you dude. Much love.

MossyFeathers, in What has been the best thing that has happened to you so far?

I got a steam deck recently. I can’t decide if this is one of the best or one of the worst decisions I’ve ever made. I love it to death and I’ve been playing stuff with retrodeck almost non-stop since I got it, however, I’ve been playing stuff with retrodeck almost non-stop since I got it.

TheHowTM, (edited ) in What is your earliest memory?
@TheHowTM@lemmings.world avatar

1992; I’m two years old, and having an absolute blast running through the sheets my mom had put up out on the clothesline.

About a decade ago my mom and I were talking about early memories. It turns out she happened to have a disposable camera on her at the time, and there’s pictures of me, joyfully forming my earliest memory as a toddler.

Tar_alcaran, in What hobby do you have that no one else in your family shares?

LARP, and costuming/crafting for it. Amusingly, even among larpers I get a few weird looks when I explain my husband made my clothing, and I made his crossbow.

DharmaCurious,
@DharmaCurious@startrek.website avatar

I met a woman on FB years ago. She’s super effeminate, and tiny, and no one would ever guess that she forges swords in her backyard on the weekends, and I absolute love her.
