Oh I know. What I want is to be able to have Karlach toss my halfling and the game transition to my halfling’s turn where I’m hacking and slashing on the way down. A man can dream.
I’ve been seeing it. Worse since the patch, but it happened every once in a while before. Major desync between the audio and animation; sometimes cutting each other off.
Now I’ve just restarted and it hasn’t been any worse than before, so I feel like maybe the problem had to do with continuing games started before the patch.
Hmm, just tried restarting my PC, no dice. It’s 100% percent of dialogue for me, not just some of the time. Guess I’ll try the old uninstall/reinstall.
What I’ve found is that it tends to happen more on dialogs and cut scenes that are skipped through. If you press A or skip through a cutscene at the wrong time (no idea how to tell when a bad time is) it will de sync the entire dialog and from then out you just get characters bobbing their heads as if they were saying something but not actually speaking. Luckily it seems to stop happening for me on the next cutscene if I let it play through the entire way unskipped.
A bit late to this but can confirm sleeping with her and then killing her does not affect other romances. In my Dark Urge playthrough I did this and then got with Lae’zel later.
Bethesda games are buggy because Bethesda is lazy and just can’t be bothered to give a damn. Will tell you ‘it just works’. Loves DLC and microtransactions (that includes Starfield).
Larian made a massively intricate game. It has bugs. Actively works on the bugs, patch after patch. Sold you a complete game.
Gee I wonder why people give Bethesda crap and this game is game of the year…
You can use Halsten in your party? He came to my camp, hung around being useless, and then disappeared. I was never able to invite him to join my party, and there was no conversation about him leaving, he was just gone one day.
Yes, you have to do some quests first. I think it was around mid or late Act 2 when he got usable as a member. I am not sure which quest, likely the questline regarding the sick man in the Last Light Inn / little boy and his ghost.
I didn’t even know that you could do a quest for him the first time 'round, because the trigger to start it is so easy to miss. I only found out because a friend told me.
There is so much in this game you’ll continue to find stuff even on a 5th or 10th playthrough. I’ve played through it about 10 times now and I still find stuff.
While I do not know anything about your bg3 problem I think the reason that you can’t see your own posts might be that your settings are not to display read posts.
Thanks. That’s what someone else said awhile ago, so I turned it off and I still can’t see them. There should be an obvious exception on that setting to not hide your own posts.
It’s 100% accurate, that’s the insane thing. The fact it all happens so fucking casually too blows my damn mind. I might be misremembering it a bit but it really did feel like Gramps casually was like “Oh yeah by the way, here’s a remote control so you can control the bomb in your chest. Kill yourself and fix everything.”
Elminster got with Mystra first. Even wilder, Mystra magically changed Elminster’s gender as punishment (Elminster got his start as a thief) and made him serve as a female human cleric of Mystra for a while. Only when he was back in her good graces did she gender swap him back so she could bonk him.
All of this was before he was even a wizard. Elminster has seen some shit.
The game starts out hard and then gets easier as you get more tools, but there’s a low-level build that helps you even the odds until your other characters catch up…
Bring Karlach and have her throw things. She gets two attacks a turn at level 3 with the Berserker subclass and Enraged Throw (most other classes have to wait until at least level 5 for a second attack), an enormous boost to her damage and accuracy from Tavern Brawler at level 4, and then a third attack at level 5. Potions of Haste or Elixirs of Bloodlust give her even more attacks, and certain magic items boost throw damage significantly. You can buy a reusable throwing spear for her in the goblin camp, but even before that you will have lots of javelins, axes, and daggers to throw. You just need to pick them all back up after the fight.
(Some people say that throw barbarians make the game boring, but Karlach can pick up and throw small characters like goblins. This never gets old. Imagine that Karlach is about to win the NBA championship for you with a three-pointer, the basketball is a goblin, and the basket is another goblin.)
Nah, sounds pretty close to how I did on my first playtrough as well. All of those are among the hardest fights early on. In my experience it gets a little easier as you level up, but there are still a lot of fights that can absolutely wreck you if you’re not careful or not using all the tools you have available.
A few things that helped me:
pick and choose fights. Many of the harder fights you can skip and come back later
use line of sight (and elevation!) to your advantange. Enemies can’t use ranged attacks on you if they can’t see you, and if you’re above them they have penalty to hit and you get advantage!
use ground effects to create choke points/limit enemy movement. You have grease spell/bottles available early and you get a lot stronger stuff as you progress
use environmental effects when they’re available. There’s a ton of explosive barrels and other things to trigger that can be very helpful
There are certainly some play styles that are less risk averse. I found wizards to be difficult to play early on, sorcerers less so, but still swishy without the right multiclass.
A fighter or barbarian makes fights much easier. It’s not that you don’t have a good front line, but shadow does no damage, astarion can’t really do his thing as a rogue yet, and gale is just weak early on. Can’t say much about paladins, but kitted out right should get you somewhere.
Personally, I’d swap gale out for someone like laezel. Or get a hirling and spec them out.
Fun fact, you can change the difficulty to balanced, make your multiclass, and then change back to explorer if you want. It’ll keep.
I might try killing him tonight to see if that works. I found the gloves of hill giant strength, so I want to switch to strength based weapons, but I’m stuck with these finesse weapons.
