Cowboy Kent Rollins calls them “cackleberries”, which always makes me giggle for some reason

feralbobcat, in What's wrong with 'eggs'?

What’s wrong with butt nuggets?

JamesDebenture007,

How about the fact that they don’t come from the BUTT?

SendMePhotos,

They come out where babies come from. It’s the same thing, stupid.

As a developer I can only say: no matter how foolproof you make your product, you will always encounter that one special user.

ShieldsUp,

foolproof? There aren’t even any latches on this cover! Who wrote these requirements?!

baseless_discourse, (edited ) in What's wrong with 'eggs'?

I thought it is literally nugget made from chicken butt, which many people do eat BTW.

zh.m.wikipedia.org/zh-hant/雞屁股

bassomitron,

What is that wiki article supposed to be?

MrJameGumb,
@MrJameGumb@lemmy.world avatar

It’s about a street food whose comical name apparently translates to “chicken butts” in English

baseless_discourse, (edited )

Here is the google translate link: zh-m-wikipedia-org.translate.goog/zh-hant/雞屁股?

qilixiang (七里香) literally translate to: fragrance from seven miles (Chinese mile, which is half a km) away.

FlyingSquid,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

which many people do eat BTW.

Chinese people, apparently. And I have yet to hear a part of an animal, or, in fact, an animal at all, that Chinese people won’t eat.

baseless_discourse, (edited )

Chinese people are not big on deer, bear, or monkey; and of course many animals that are not native to China, like crocodiles, ostrich, etc.

Many deep water fish are also not traditionally popular, like tuna and salmon. Chinese do eat them now, but mostly because of japanese influence.

FlyingSquid,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar
Catoblepas,

No deer?? But venison tastes so good! This is honestly surprising to me, I would have thought anywhere deer were native they’d be a traditional food source.

LemmyKnowsBest, in What's wrong with 'eggs'?

“Cloaca” would be more accurate than “butt” if they really wanna get technical

seathru,

“Butt” is describing an area, not an orifice.

TotalFat,

You know what? Chicken butt!

mack7400,

But why?

Sway_Chameleon,
@Sway_Chameleon@lemmy.world avatar

Chicken thigh!

Viking_Hippie,

And also a former football player who played in the midfield for Manchester United and Newcastle United, amongst others.

Didn’t know about the novel one, but I already forgone NNN when doctors said it was bullshit.

CodexArcanum, (edited )

National Novel Writing Month, often abbreviated NaNoWriMo, is an annual event encouraging people to finally write that novel they’ve always said they would. The goal is to write 50K words during the month. There are usually meet ups, writing workshops, and other gatherings so participants can encourage each other, share ideas, and generally have fun being part of a thing.

Edit to add: The “nation” is the USA I’m assuming. I’m in the USA and have only heard of it being a US thing. Presumably if you live somewhere else and want to write a book in November, the various online communities would be glad to have you though.

worldsayshi,

Great now I have to write a 50k word novel in 82 minutes.

CodexArcanum,

You got this bro, I believe in you!

TheSanSabaSongbird,

Some ridiculous percentage of all currently publishing novelists in the US have an MFA in literature or creative writing or something similar. If this makes you feel a little suspicious about how the publishing industry actually works, it should. It’s very much a closed ecosystem that’s all about recycling the tried and true and that is highly risk averse in terms of straying from the norm. This is why it’s almost impossible for “regular” people to get a novel published unless they self-publish.

That litter box should have been changed a while ago. Poor cat

Aaroncvx,

Yeah unfortunately this post just makes me angry. That litter box is fucking disgusting.

rosymind,

As funny as this is, I concur. Also… why were they taking a picture? Kinda concerns me that they may have intentionally pushed the box top over to tip the cat

But maybe I’m just being paranoid. Idk.

Buddahriffic, (edited )

Hmm it’s possible but I’d think a cat would easily be able to stay on its feet if the top was pushed off. But losing its balance and ending up like that also doesn’t make sense to me.

My guess is the picture taker gave the cat some kind of jump scare (which tbf could involve pushing on the top) and had the camera ready.

Though if that is the case, the joke might be on them because that cat might look for new places to do its business now that the litter box isn’t safe.

Edit: looked again at the pic and I see that this might be a box where the cat stands on top of the part that fell rather than that being like the top of a “cave” like I had at first assumed. That makes both the cases I didn’t think very likely much more likely and my own guess less likely.

Also white; even though Europe and North America only have around 15% of the world population.

(I would try to find a better estimate of population of “white” people, which is not even a well-defined group, in the world; but I cannot find it.)

Siegfried, (edited )

Maybe you are actually looking for Indo-European or eurasians descendants that at least has some meaning outside of AmericaTM

Edit: expected to easily find some rough estimates but there is nothing at hand. Will dive later in academic publications

Honytawk, in subs > dubs

I watch anime for the beautiful animation (not necessary the “plot”)

Having text plastered all over it kinda takes away from it.

So I will watch Dub every time.

It is also a great way to check if an anime is good, since they don’t put so much effort in to dub something mediocre (usually)

stebo02,
@stebo02@sopuli.xyz avatar

if you don’t watch it for the plot then why don’t you watch it in Japanese without subtitles?

nossaquesapao,

“plot” = sensual or sexual content
