I’ve not played a Bethesda game in a few months (BG3 now, and about to check out phantom liberty after finishing my current replay of bg3). But I’ve gotten a really solid ‘base’ of Skyrim mods. From there I’ll usually just add or remove a few depending on what my vision is for the next replay XD. Took years, and is generally very stable.
Meh. It was a decent way to make nitroglycerin less unstable, but there are so many better, safer explosives. TNT, for example, is stable enough to be melted down and cast into shells. C4 burns like a candle and won’t detonate without a blasting cap.
Dynamite tends to “sweat” nitroglycerin over time, and then the slightest amount of heat, friction, or impact can cause it to detonate.
i guess, but only as much as any other oligarchy. you can have democracy where the only people who can vote are people with doctorates in stem fields, or who’re land owning white men, or who have their patents of nobility, or who have at least a million USD in their bank account. but really it’s not particularly in keeping with the ideal that people are usually talking about when they say ‘democracy’.
A technocrats actually makes sense. But that isn’t practical. People always at some point end up hiring their friends and putting people they know in positions of power. Nepotism and cronyism are just natural progressions, even when systems of governance start out with good intentions. Eventually someone always ruins it for everyone else.
Difference is we can all tell there’s a difference in graphics and can laugh about it. In 40 years who knows. Graphics already look so good now there’s only so much further they can go
I think “full-dive” VR (think the matrix or ready player one) in 40 years might be possible with the right breakthroughs in neuroscience. I hope I live to see the day, that tech will change the way we live big time…
We already achieved photorealistic rendering a decade ago, and we can do it in real time now. Graphics aren’t going to get much better any more. This is why 1) a wider variety of art styles has become popular, and 2) people clamor about VR being the “next step”.
No, we literally have photorealistic rendering. It might not look real at all times but the math is true to the real world physics. That’s literally what physically based rendering is.
The limitations in real time rendering are hardware limitations now, not software. But for regular applications, PBR literally simulates individual photons. It doesn’t have a ways to go. It is already true to life and physically accurate.
But of course, even the best tools in the world can be misused by a bad artist.
“Flavortown does not recognize this court and demands it’s sovereignty and recognition of its perverted, yes people do that and its “no it’s not physically comfortable or socially acceptable” ways of life! Now, the defense asks you, is chewbacca a wookie…?”
I mean it’s a boomer/genx post, it’s technically a meme from the format (image with impact font). But the focus is on what it’s saying, there’s no joke to it.
A lot of people in the comments can’t seem to make the distinction between what they have been fed since they were little and that they are used to, and what is good, or tastes good.
Most people who eat meat also eat some subset of vegetables and know they like/hate some other subset of vegetables.
The human body loves getting addicted to the unhealthy sugar carbs found in some plants, but our taste buds do tend to have a healthier long-term relationship with the umami balance you get more easily from meats and seafoods.
As a parent with three small children, this is not accurate. I feel alive and productive when I’m alone and feel like I’m getting my life back together again. Everything is finally getting back in order. It all comes crashing back down after everyone else gets back home.
