Honestly I wish the proud rigged market capitalists who don’t believe in progressive wealth redistribution, or a society with any equity, would stop calling themselves the “left.”
It’s nice that you support 2 homeless people being allowed to get married regardless of gender identity and live in the same refrigerator box in the same gutter, but the fact remains that no one should be homeless in a society that generates such wealth. This neoliberal mindset shouldn’t pass for left-wing. Our entire effective political spectrum has been reduced to “give rich people all the money and let people do what they want socially” and “give the rich people all the money and torture any non-white conservative Christians socially.”
And yes, i’m voting for Biden to stave off Jerry Lewis Hitler, just as I did last time and Clinton before, full well knowing it solves nothing and only slows the rate of descent into oligarchal madness and dystopia. It’s just voting to keep the water pumps running on the Titanic, it buys time, it is not a path to survival in itself.
USA is a multi-party democracy, and as such laws and programs need to be approved by representatives with opposing views. Currently, republican governors are refusing to accept free federal money to feed children. There is absolutely no way they care about giving the homeless homes. I absolutely agree with you that this is an “orphan crushing machine” issue but unless the GOP implodes we’re not going to have such progressive policies.
Then we will fall to fascism in the near future. Maybe not this election, but soon.
You can’t get people en masse to support you on the message of “Your tangible situation will continue to be horrible, but letting those guys win will cause unimaginably worse horror” cycle after cycle and continue to get them to care, and it is understandable to for them to eventually wash their hands of it, because at the end of the day, voting associates you with this system, and it feels dirty to participate because it makes it feel like you bear responsibility for what a Faustian bargain it is every cycle.
I will keep showing up with a funeral dirge in my heart to vote for the lesser evil and attempt to hold back the bloodthirsty fascist horde yet again without hope for things actually improving, but I’m not the norm. Most sane people will eventually just walk away from it sooner or later because the reality is too unpalatable.
Problem is with your 14 year old Hyundai, you probably don’t have full coverage, so your insurance is going to pay to fix his BMW, you are going to pay to replace your Hyundai, and your insurance rates are going up.
To be fair this is not the first infamous fascist with a bad hairdo, but this one certainly raised the bar. It looks like a bowl cut, but with different size bowls used…
This entirely not my fault incident, paid for entirely by the other party’s insurance, was rewarded with a thirty percent increase in insurance premiums come renewal time.
My brother’s car got sideswiped parked on the street, there was full CCTV footage of the vehicle registration which did it.
Although it was an open and closed case he was left without a car for 7 days, had to pay taxi to get to work, spent 2 months with a shitty courtesy car worth 20% of his actual car. Car finally returned and there are rattles and doors don’t close properly.
I’m not convinced this isn’t a nice wig being worn that was then absolutely butchered, right before this photo was taken. Really quick in the bathroom in a “oh fuck you bought a women’s wig?” Moment.
It’s because idiots that follow them don’t care, some undecided will check him out because of the haircut and listen to what he says, and everyone else is making fun of his haircut instead of commenting on the vile shit he spouts.
To make them stand out I guess so that you can identify with them easier. And all dear leaders or nazis had their special weird take on hair & mustaches.
the disparity between posters and subscribers is larger than expected.
in the community i moderate, there are just 2 consistent posters (including myself) and about 3000 subs, of which a good 150 seem to be active in total. that’s 0.05 of the aggregate subscribers.
Ugh seriously it’s so often these dipshits who think their race makes them special. Like I get that they probably are reaching deep into the barrel to find anything that makes them special it’s not like they can fall back on their personalities, intelligence, appearance, or achievement. So they’ve got to brag about not having much melanin when for other folks it’s just a physical feature we have that’s unfortunately got several centuries of baggage to it.

This one detail is responsible for the kernel of sadness I feel for many on the far right. These are despicable people who were once kids who just wanted to be grownups and do grownup things. And whether due to genetics or due to upbringing, anything else that might have given them a sense of pride and competence is not something they have. As you say - all they have left is trying to push others down, hoping this lands them on top. Damn it’s truly sad.
Exactly. Like I’m not going to pretend that racism isn’t a problem at all levels of society. But at a certain level of doing shit with my life worthy of pride people building their life around racism went from wrong and stupid to also being pathetic. Either your skin color is all you have going for you which is fucking pathetic or you’ve achieved something with your life and you still manage to think that your whiteness is one of your most important features which says something is seriously wrong with you. There’s no pride or specialness in being the cultural default.
Like my family immigrated to America recently enough that where we’re from is slightly relevant to my life experiences, and so it has some value to me. But how could I be such a delusional jackass that I can’t see that in others. If grandpa was an immigrant well then I oughta welcome folks here like he wished he’d been welcomed. I appreciated getting to celebrate grandpa’s culture, so maybe other people would like to too and maybe I’ll enjoy celebrating other people’s culture. If America is better for folks like my family being in it then who am I to say other families can’t make it better too.
Nail on the head. Racism now stems from people feeling like they’re no one, but they have an excuse to feel better than this person for an arbitrary reason so they take it.
There’s a reason most of the racists are poor uneducated white people
The thing is - I feel bad for them for feeling like they are no one, for feeling like this is all they have. I can pretty easily get myself into a mindset where I want to give some of these folks a hug, and tell them they matter. I think many of us have felt worthless at times, either due to circumstances, due to depression, whatever.
But then I see what their voting habits are doing to this country and to our governing bodies, and that gets buried under piles of anger.
Make sure you highlight this in your one on one discussions with your manager and get compensated. You’re doing two jobs- your employer should not be taking advantage of you. Get paid my friend.
I honestly work at a company that would fit most ideals for the average anti-work/work-reform subscriber.
Unlimited PTO, with minimum PTO usage requirements. Free medical. They pay for my gym membership. They pay for tampons for my household. Full time remote. I hold equity in the company. Annual performance bonuses. And they disclose the financials of just about everything to employees. It’s pretty wild
