I used to be with ‘it’, but then they changed what ‘it’ was.
Now, what I’m with isn’t ‘it’ anymore and what’s ‘it’ seems weird and scary.
It’ll happen to you!
Thought old people were some how different when I was a kid. Am old now and know it’s no different from being a kid only people somehow think they have permission to be way more fucked up.
In London, Ontario, the city gave the transit commission $350M to spend on a new transit overhaul called Bus Rapid Transit (BRT). It was the best plan possible for our city as our streets are too narrow to accommodate light rail and we sit on swampland at a low altitude above sea level which prevents a subway from being built. All the commission had to do was pour concrete for new bus pads and widen a couple of streets to add in a dedicated bus lane.
They blew half the money on consultations, construction fuck ups, and removal of fuck ups in 2022. They never finished BRT, bought themselves a brand new HQ at a cost of $120M, and now in 2023, they’re saying they’re $175M overbudget on BRT.
I found out because I was talking to my partner earlier “I don’t have work on Friday I’m not sure about Monday though I’ll need to check” “Monday is christmas I doubt you have work” “oh…”
Did they finally kill sobe? I used to chug that stuff as a kid, tried one a few years ago, not sure if it was always that sweet, or it went the way of most good indie (that was bought up by conglomerates) beverage distributors.
Sobe first came on my radar around 2000, imma look it up for it, because I feel you aren’t that old… Idk maybe you are old, founded in 96, bought by Pepsi in 2000.
It was always that sweet. Everything we drank as kids was SUPER sweet, mostly still is. Once you break the sugar addiction and try those things again later the sweetness is shocking.
I quit drinking pop in my late teens to early 20s. It is genuinely difficult for me to finish a single can of pop now, no idea how I drank 2 litres of it a day as a kid without getting fat or diabetic.
I’ve had truly instant ramen when my friend’s brother came back from Japan. Dude brought a bunch of cool shit back, including a few cases of self heating ramen and a carton of self lighting cigarettes. Japan is like 500 years in the future.
Ah I remember that scene-- I just didn’t think it was cheap enough to actually make sense to use in the real world. I wonder where they’re sold bc I don’t think I’ve run across one in the wild.
