TWeaK, in As of now I have approximately 1 user.

I think you should keep it to yourself. Far better to have complete control over it than have other people pulling child porn into your instance or whatever.

Zealousideal_Fox900,

If anyone tries that they will be banned so quick.

You are appreciated.

Thanks. :)

    Kelvin is an absolute temp scale, it equals °C + 273.15. So even a 20°C cup of coffee (68°F, colder than ambient…) is 293 kelvin. IQ only goes up to 200 so that coffee is smarter than Einstein…

    Also: Einstein’s IQ was estimated to be around 160 or 170 (he never took the test). 160 kelvin is -113°C… (-171°F… very very cold coffee).

    ColeSloth,

    Einstein never took an IQ test. The 160 to 170 thing is just a shot at a guess. Also, iq scores don’t cap out at 200.

    name_NULL111653, (edited )

    I’m aware the 160 is a guess, thanks for clarifying. I’ll edit. Also, because of the nature of normal distribution and standard deviation, IQ given the current world population can only go up to 194.8

    But you’re technically right (the best kind of right), it could go above 200 with a world population of 76 billion.

    ColeSloth,

    Your iq link is just some guy asking a question and saying he thinks statistically the highest can only be 194.8 and then people replying telling him how he’s wrong, fyi.

    suodrazah,

    Where in the meme does it mention temperature?

    GregorGizeh,

    Search for the word “kelvin”

    suodrazah, (edited )

    The meme doesn’t say anything about the coffees IQ being related to temperature.

    The person with the supposedly low IQ jumps to that conclusion in response to being insulted.

    We could be talking about the physical height of the placement of the cup, maybe it’s on a low shelf?

    It should read “Son, that cup of coffees temperature is higher than your IQ”.

    GregorGizeh,

    I mean, yeah if I tried hard not to understand this meme, I could. It’s not very good, but you are being very intentionally obtuse.

    Meowoem,

    It explicitly states the coffee has a higher IQ, not temperature.

    Normally I don’t care about sloppy use of English but when the meme is trying to be smarmy and act clever then yes I expect it to be correct.

    spittingimage,
    @spittingimage@lemmy.world avatar

    So even a 70°C cup of coffee (slightly warm, almost cold) is 343 kelvin.

    Not relevant to your point, but 60°C is hot enough to scald. If that cup of coffee was 70°C, I’d be careful about sipping it.

    name_NULL111653,

    Thanks. We’re stuck with Fahrenheit here in America, so I’m not used to °C for practical applications… Because America is too stupid to switch to SI and it’s impractical to not use the national standard (believe me I’ve tried)…

    kionay,

    ECMAScript spec says Math.random must be less than 1. I was about to stop there, but a thought occurred to me: could the multiply with a float make a number large enough to floor to a different value for large enough values? 🤔

    I imagine it’d have to be a ridiculously large number to amount enough floating point imprecision to matter, if so.

    yagurlreese,

    hmmm how do I follow that I’m using the boost app :) thanks!

    swab148,
    @swab148@startrek.website avatar

    Yeah, I’m using Boost too, and that’s the one PR I want merged, but I’m not a coder so I don’t know how hard it is to implement. The only other app I’ve used is Jerboa, so I know that the coding is there (I believe they’re called APIs) but I don’t know how I could personally help with this issue.

    TimewornTraveler, (edited )

    I’m not too sure about navigating that specific app, but on desktop you can just follow a link like this one: lemmy.world/c/egg_irl@lemmy.blahaj.zone and you’ll view the blahaj instance from the cozy view of your lemmy.world account. You can subscribe there and it should appear in your feeds.

    Alternatively, if you’re super into queer spaces you could just create an account on blahaj to make that like your “home” instance but that wont really affect your Lemmy viewing experience much. it’s akin to creating a yahoo email vs google email: you can still send and receive all the same stuff but you just log in somewhere else

    deweydecibel, (edited )

    I wouldn’t suggest using blahaj as a home instance. It’s one of the instances that pussyfoots around with defederating from hexbear, and I think it disables downvotes, which just means the content isn’t voted on democratically, which fucks up the aggregation and doesn’t give you an accurate view of Lemmy as a whole.

    Cool communities there, poor admins. Stick with lemmy.world or pick a different home.

    swab148,
    @swab148@startrek.website avatar

    🎶To be fair🎶 .world isn’t without it’s own problems, mostly getting DDOS’d all the time, so if you’re gonna look for an instance, I’d try to pick a lesser-known one than .world or the other big ones. Probably being a hypocrite here, since mine is arguably the biggest meme community on Lemmy right now, but I think that’ll change given time.
